Fun fact: They DID gimmick the glass for Shane/Kurt, but some tech realized the pyro would shatter the more flimsy glass, so they replaced it with real glass...and didn't tell anyone. I feel like the Bossman reveal was the last time Vince McMahon allowed a remotely subtle reveal to happen in a storyline. Because "people didn't get it," so therefore: bash them over the head with every single twist from then on.
@boyankovachev7982 Жыл бұрын
I think you are giving Vince too much credit with this take. Like, I'm not saying that he isn't, or at least wasn't, a great promoter, maybe the best one at the time, but unless I misremember, subtle reveals have never been his style. Which I'm not saying is always bad, but think that we can all agree that there are times when a subtle reveal would be far more impactful. One love ❤️

Yeah im one of those 97 is the Attitude Era guys. while there is small New Gen Era stuff in 1997. there more "attitude", Austin's rise up the card, Rock's heel turn, DX, Taker title run leading to Kane, Sable Terri and Sunny being the 1st "divas", ECW invasion, and Raw is War reband. So to me it's Mania 13-18 is the Attitude Era. With the night after being the start of Ruthless Aggression with Brock's debut and announcement of first Draft.
@KingCanada Жыл бұрын
And just to add to your argument, let's think about the build-up from SummerSlam to Survivor Series in 97. What do people more fondly remember: The Patriot's feud with the Hart Foundation, or HBK's feud with Undertaker? We all know the answer to that question.

Couldn't agree more. I got back into WWE with Raw 25 in 2018 after I stopped sometime in 2012. Subscribed to the Network and began watching the 1996 ppv's from King of the Ring on and then for the first time all of 1997 through the point I began watching Raw on TV in mid-1998. Of course, kid in a candy store being able to watch all of those ppv's that I was only able to listen too (the ppv channel, the picture was scrambled but you could hear it) because at 11 I could never convince my parents to purchase them for me. I count SummerSlam 1996 as the start of the Attitude Era since that's where it starts in WWE '13, and I guess people count the Invasion as the end of the Attitude Era, but I definitely see that as the start of the Ruthless Aggression era since the RA era was basically WWE fully incorporating ECW and WCW elements into their programming.

Attitude Era..in this mans opinion who was lucky enough that I was lucky enough as a wrestling fan for the periods I had watched WHEN I watched as my immaturity and growth out of it lined up pretty well as the product did also..I always thought in HINDSIGHT I believe that survivor series 96 - Until the "Ruthless Aggression slap heard round the world" episode of SmackDOWN! However I understand for those who just see survivor series 96 more as the primer or the pieces coming together organically and the pretty good argument i believe even myself that it wasnt done intentionally and was more of the ingredients/storm building before touching down survivor series 97'/Vince's "attitude promo" that proceeds it..i have a hard time justifying in my head that if you dont count survivor series 96' than you have no other chouce in terms of argument validity and consistency to use any date after that but before SS 97' the earliest or Vince's attitude promo..idk.. anyone get what i mean??

I dispute that 1997 is Attitude Era. But it's also not quite New Gen anymore. So I offer a third option: It's the transitional year. If you really look at it, there's always at least one transitional year between eras. Look at 1992, 1997, and 2001. You can't tell me with a straight face that they completely belong to one of the two eras they're sandwiched inbetween. Also btw. IYH after Mania 13 was Austin/Bret 3. Not 2. Don't you dare forget their Survivor Series 1996 match, it was great. Much better than their third.
@KingCanada Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I can understand that argument. And, like you alluded to, the time between the night after Wrestlemania X-Seven and King Of The Ring 2002 could be seen as a transition between the Attitude Era and the Ruthless Aggression Era.
