Main thing that held Tweek back was somewhat lower attendance than the rest of 11-6, so even though his lows were the highest of that group they had more impact on his overall score than they did for the rest of 11-6 (he was the only player in that group for whom the algo gave more weight to their worst tournament than to their best)

Even tho Zackray wasn’t ranked, wins on him were still weighed basically the same as like a top 20 player. The algorithm takes that into account.

For spargo to reach Leo levels of unquestionable #1 status like he says he wants to, he needs to reach a higher level of gameplay coupled with consistency. Leo, even currently, has an ability to play in such an explosive manner at times (like game 4 vs spargo at Throne 2), it just makes his opponent look like a scrub.

100% agreed - Leo would very consistently get 1st or 2nd at every tournament while destroying everyone else (including the top players) and when he was down a game, then "Game 4 Leo" would come out and give him all the momentum to win the entire set. And obv there were sets in Top 8's where it would be close but he'd almost always prevail and his gameplay always looked so monstrous. If Spargo wants to reach Leo levels of dominance in Leo's peak era, then Spargo needs to start destroying everybody in his path without it being close except against a few players. It's gonna be really tough cause even though Spargo is winning these tournaments and vs players, there are still a lot of top players (Sonix, Miya, Light, etc) that are still pretty close to beating him so sometimes it just depends on the day.

This is the first ranking system since the 2022 all year Orionrank where the rank 1 player missed a top 8. And it's not like Sparg0 got 49th at anything again, he just got 9th at Lit 3, only losing to Tea and Miya, which is still great

Ngl Sonix Supernova run carried him so hard to the point that even though Raru could’ve been Top 5 over him Sonix had beaten HALF OF THE NEW TOP 10 in that run to the point that his record vs everyone except Sparg0 and Shuton he’s either even, winning, or one off losses (IE Onin and Shinymark) just saved his Top 5 status as it made up for his lack of attendance And with Sonix saying he’s attending more events I highkey can see him potentially being the main rival for that Number 1 spot this year

Sadly Sonix will need to get a secondary if he really wants to beat Sparg0, since he will be attending to most of the tourneys as well. It doesnt have to be a new official secondary, but a specific character that does well against his mains. But his poor mindset wont make him get to learn a new character, and this is why Sparg0 is his daddy

A 9th at Riptide isn’t even that bad plus he got a win on MIYA which is a huge win The 17th at Supernova wasn’t great but even then he’s attended enough and did spectacular so I believe he’s definitely above Sonix

Placements aren’t everything. Raru’s losers runs were often started with bad losses like Ocha the Rosalina. Light’s losses were significantly better and his wins were around as good

I think head to heads really matter on this rankings. Light not only has consistency, he pretty much has the skill to beat every top player rn. This is a type of “bonus” expierenced players have, just like Shuton, Light, Mkleo, Tweek, Gluto, etc. have, they have well practiced all matchups and doesnt matter how they perform or if they dont attend much tourneys, they have that raw skill and matchup memory to beat any kind of player. Thats why you can see new players like Raru, Snow, Doramigi, Tama P, etc. struggle on top 10 matchups, while expierenced players already know themselves. And the fact that this is a crucial point on their placement speaks for itself. Another reason why NA is the best region.

Placement avgs are flawed bc players are penalized for having higher attendance, to the point that they are ranked lower than players with fewer majors and supermajors under their belt. The entire season is a marathon, but we’re expected to treat it like a competition for the best sprinting average. H2hs are flawed bc it’s a small dataset, even going by the full pool of top players (which most fans completely forget to do lmao), and it relies on situational events (specific players attending the same tourneys). It also rewards character pool. The difference between playing a hard counter to what top players use, vs the opposite of that is enormous.

SparGoat! Man I followed ultimate for like 4 or 5 years pretty closely after the games release as a spectator and a casual cloud main. I remember his inkling and watching SpargO duke it out with Elegant in socal locals before the pandemic before the cloud buffs (which at the time a lot of people I listened to were saying probably weren't that big of a deal). Then the summit after the pandemic happened and Sparg0's cloud was like a divine revelation. I don't know if people would even consider cloud high tier let alone top tier if not for him. His Cloud is a thing of beauty and even though I don't watch as much now I'm still hella pumped for him to finally get number 1. Go off king 👑.

@Arctyx_Xo hurt only really consistently loses to spargo and miya and like that's it. his snake is by far the most versatile out of any others so his matchup spread isn't bad at all compared to most snakes

Even though Spargo never went to a game 5 this tournament, he didn't really "breeze" through this entire tournament if you actually watched every set from him. His games vs Loaf were close but Loaf SD'd a few times throughout the set. Also Spargo vs Zomba was both close and also very back-and-forth - Zomba actually got cheesed in a few of his games vs Spargo and Leo where he should've won. Spargo was technically close to possibly losing to Zomba in that set (Spargo made a crazy comeback 1 of the games, cheesed 1 other game, etc) so this tournament could've been very different if he actually did lose.
