Reviewing My First Anime: Mermaid Melody

i grew up with this , loved it , when everyone forgot about it i still remembered it's existence , in 2020 when the quarantine hit i sat down and rewatched and felt confused by the ending , so i promised myself to rewatch it someday to get a grasp of the events and that one final episode , turned out episode 39 of season 2 wasn't canon but instead a "Goodbye Special" as the cast and animators knew that as far there wouldn't be a future season so they decided to make an episode to just celebrate and say a huge goodbye to their audience , that had me emotional , in 2021 the manga author started what i call "the Third Season" (doubt it'll become an anime) , but after that , i could say the anime changed me a lot , i've come a long way , i have even made some of the characters on Character AI to chat and interact with , it made my love for the sea apparent as back then i was intersted in tales of creatures that lurked in the depths , with that aside , i hope i see a part two.

The last episode makes me so sad, since I loved the anime so much. It was the first anime I finised...

@@Saratheartist what's worse is that the "Third Season" Mermaid Melody Aqua is disappointing, a repeat of season 1 with new characters replacing the og ones, Seira becomes evil, Lucia's daughter repeats her mom's history etcetera etcetera, Mermaid Melody deserves a better "Third Season" than that

Oh man I remember watching this show as a kid, I was like 6 or 7, and something inside me CHANGED when they revealed Rina's (the green one) tragic backstory of how she had this childhood friend (also a mermaid) Noel and the evil guy attacked Noel's kingdom so she escaped to Rina's kingdom but then the evil guy moved on to Rina's kingdom and tried to kidnap her but Noel sacrificed herself so Rina could be safe and I was like "oh my god it's like with true love but it's her best friend who did it🥺" and years later I was like, huh, I'm into girls and in hindsight so much of season 1 is improved if you view Rina as lesbian

Season had a lot of Evangelion vibes , the casual nudity , the music , the intro specifically that sounded like Cruel Angel's Thesis (put them side by side , i have done that before) , the merging of entities and such , it was the most mature season of the two that did air.

Haha! I was in love with Hanon when I was little. I consider her my first waifu. Rina was also pretty cool, I also liked her a lot

This was also my first anime! Has anyone also watched mermaid melody pure? It's basically just the season two of this and I think it's actually really well written despite the small cringey moments. I love its soundtrack and the main villain. I know the villains are like edgy boo hoo but I love their little backstories and emotional moments in the anime and as funny as it sounds I think it definitely made me more empathetic as a five year old girl

The nostalgia!!!!! It's my favourite anime until this day Mermaid melody in my language (Hebre)got removed from youtube and i can't seen to find it anywhere!!!!! I need to find it in Hebrew again for my soul!!! It was my childhood so it whold mean the world for me so if you know where to watch it in Hebrew please tell me!!!!
