Reviewing my FIRST Egg Salad Sandwich!

I’m a black person who grew up eating egg salad sandwiches. With 8 children living on a farm, my parents served a lot of sandwiches like that. Mom knew how to hook it up right with the onion, celery, bell pepper & spices 😉 👍🏽

Born and raised black...lol...I grew up eating egg salad sandwiches! Eggs was the cheapest thing back in the day, and when we couldn't afford much of anything, my mother would whip up some egg salad and crackers, or toast, went to sleep full and happy😊

You need some home made egg salad with some small diced onion and celery. A little salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder Its a whole different experience. The onion and celery add a nice bit of texture

It's honestly a nostalgia thing for most of the creamy community. Anecdotally; growing up low income, if it's made well, egg salad sandwiches were a welcomed treat from fried bologna, goulash and Ramen noodles.

Please don't judge ALL egg salad sandwiches by what you got at a gas station! A gas station T-bone probably isn't too good either. Homemade egg salad is great! I like to add chopped banana pepper rings and Kalamata olives to mine. Oh, and mustard is essential. Please make more gas station food reviews.

I'm a black woman, and my mom made exceptional egg salad sandwiches, full of flavor, not heavy on the mayo, with celery and sweet onions for a mildly crunchy factor. Those sandwiches were devine. ✨️ This is not just my opinion. For every party, picnic or family gathering, she was asked to bring the egg salad sandwiches, or develed eggs. She'd make the sandwiches on toasted Brioche bread for a no-soggy factor. Folks I grew up with, including family members, still talk about her egg salad sandwiches and develed eggs to this day! 😋

I'm a pasty white dude and I'll absolutely destroy a good egg salad sandwich. Problem is sandwiches from places like gas stations and 7-11s always have underseasoned egg salad. Usually completely unseasoned. When I make it myself, I have to add a decent amount of salt and pepper. If it has no salt, then it will be completely bland. It won't taste bad but it certainly won't taste good.

I love egg salad sandwiches but I can tell that doesn’t have seasoning…. It’s supposed to be hard boiled eggs mashed up, salt, pepper, paprika, thinly sliced green onions. Then mix with miracle whip or mayo. Which ever you prefer ❤

We have those exact sandwiches in the Netherlands too. Different brand (I am specifically talking about the ones from Albert Heijn) and theirs has some floppy bacon on it, but similar pricing. About four or five euros. Egg salad is best made at home. You can do all kinds of stuff with it.

Big Daym, I live right up the road from a REAL ghetto gas station that makes this one look like the Galleria of truck stops. I’m talking ghetto to the point where it’s right next door to the projects. And it’s a spot that I frequent often because it’s got a good selection of items. Almost like a miniature grocery store. The GC Mart on the corner of Fairfield and Lafayette in Nashville, Tennessee. Come on by and get yourself some pizza, sammiches, drinks, ice cream and fresh meats and veggies. The staff is very friendly here too!

Egg and olive (boiled eggs, green olives with pimientos, chopped up, with mayo) is where it's at. That's what I grew up on (New Hampshire in the 60s) and I've always been shocked at how few people have ever had it. But I've never introduced anyone to it who didn't like it.

As a member of the creamy community, allow me to be that representative and say that even I don’t understand why egg salad is a thing for us Caucasians. It ain’t nothing special. I’ll take that sweet Southern soul food over egg salad any day of the week! Gimme dat fried chicken, bbq ribs, collard greens and mac’n’cheese and I am a happy man!
