I guess at this point "Yearly Flow" would be a better name for this series, but what can you do? MONTHLY FLOW EPISODE 2. Enjoy my flight of the month! *Flown with the Protek35*

The really high uptilt kind of threw me off, I felt like I was constantly looking at the bottom part of the screen more so than the rest of it. Even the layout of your line could be different; going up the stairway without the subject walking up at the same time felt plain. And then just the color correcting at the very top would be the last part to try and work around. Other than that, pretty smooth video! More practice and more gigs will make yah better 🙌🏽

Hi Nainoa, thank you for giving your honest feedback. There is some great knowledge in there for all of us! Do u think your comment would feel less harsh if you said the nice things first instead of at the end? Could it make the receiver feel better and make you a bit more charming or am i completely wrong with these thoughts? Have a great day ❤️

@@tobiasmargreiter7877 no worries! I apologize if it came off strong, it was meant to be read as creative talking to a creative; unfiltered and just straight to the point. However, Matt’s gotten SOOOOO much better since this video and I’m incredibly stoked for him! The guy is really putting his all into these videos, and it shows. Oh! And I put the nice words last because it’s confirming that even though a lot needed improvement, he still had some skills that were on par with what we’d imagine in our creative brains. But das all, we all good! 😊🙌🏽

I think it turned out allright! I do a lot of commercial cinewhoop style FPV and I have definitely done my mistakes... HAHA! I fly mainly the Protek35 and I love it! The only thing I actually would consider for this exact shot was using horizon lock in Reelsteady, cause the point here isn´t to show like the flow style movements of a FPV drone, but present the coffee shop in a longer take. So I think people would have more time to focus on details if the horizon was locked! Just my opinion for this exact shot! Other than that, both grade and SFX is on point!

Never saw you in the clip even though I paused every few seconds and searched. The whole flight was smooth and I was not bothered by the camera angle until you mentioned it then I realized after watching it again it was certainly more of a tour of the ceiling, air ducts and lights than it was a view of the space where people exist such as the floor, chairs and tables. Nice flight. Much better than I could have done.

Amazing video, amazing approach showing it to us in that light of "what could I have done better?" and really cool idea to offer a shot for free to the bar to get it rolling. Here are my 2 cents - not knowing how much I'd screw up in that shot ;D + I love the guy walking into the bar and up to the balcony "with you" - this gives this shot an amzingly simple and interesting storyline to follow + I like how you bravely used that O to go through - certainly not the biggest gap in the world + The atmosphere with that gently filled bar is super inviting, great day, weather and light, too! + Gosh that bar looks amazing :P In addition to what you already mentioned (yeah, that angle XD): - In tight spaces you seem to struggle a bit in precisely positioning the drone left and right - so practising to roll just ever so slightly more and position your drone right in the center of a gap would be quite beneficial - a few times it looks like your props where only a hair away from hitting the wall/doorframe/firepyramid - At the end of the shot a jaw-spin would have been cool to see the guy's face directly (we got to know him for 2 mins already but mostly his back) and also once going backwards a bit more to see the whole bar/building from the outside... and just then turning down to the beach. - I think saturation and grading is a tad overdone - especially in contrast to your talking-head-video-style - You may try actual rates with super low center rates like 50 or even 40 if you use BF. This gives you an amazingly very fine control around the center position and makes those shots so smooth, you barely need real steady at all - so if worst comes worse you could just crop into the original instead Keep up that good work! And once you did this for a year... let's bring that vid up again and see how you improved. Or even better: Offer this bar a second video... and then compare the two... :) This could also be a super great base for a tutorial. And yeah, those shots/perspectives are so new, people are just being stunned by them... you can't go wrong even with firstie-tries in this area currently. Also I wanna offer cinematic drone shots to some local places now. Thanks. :P

You did a really good job! One thing I saw was that you were blowing up dirt when passing the entry / door mat, this distracted me for a moment. The drifts you mentioned weren't that noticeable as you (as creator) might think, the camera angle was off yes, but still nice result. 😁👍 But I had the same experience as you. I was shooting an concert which will be streamed this year. Mainly I filmed on my Sony A7III, but after we were done I asked them, if I can try one shot with my whoop - they watched on my (crappy analog screen) and were stunned already. When I showed them the edited video they were totally like "WOW! We have to try this on our next music video!". Funny thing about that - I messed up the shutter speed, I messed up the iso and I had bad motor vibrations, but nobody even noticed (even though I told them I wasn't happy with the outcome 😁👍)

Things I definitely noticed while watching : 1) too much uptilt on the recording camera , especially noticable at the part where they picked up their coffee from the table 2) Image over-sharpening, can sharpening artifacts throughout the video 3) Shutter speed may have been too fast for the style of flying and recording being used in this gig in particular. 4) Possibly wrong settings when using reelsteady go , could see face warping at the edges of the shot , particularly when the guy walked up the stairs . 5) White Balance mismatch after reaching the upper portion of the cafe (assuming it's a cafe) , but auto WB has its own flaws so I can't blame it either. 6) Too low of a shot and dirt flies up and disturbs your entry shot into the building. 7) Blown out highlights , should probably consider a CPL filter to handle it or a combination of a CPL + ND But great shot nonetheless, awesome work 👍🏻👍🏻

You are one of the most honest and down to earth youtubers I know of! Yeah, the camera didn’t work so well, but only fpv people will notice, as you yourself pointed out. Also, right there at the end, where the drone and the man get out, I would probably do one 360 around the man just to show the café from the outside and a hint of its placement and its surroundings, before diving down to the beach. I say this based on my eagerness to see this as I was watching your video for the first time, and my little disappointment when I did not see it. Nevertheless, superb video and the owners are lucky to have it for free. Customers and future customers will be blown away from it and think that they spent big cash to make it. 100% Question: did you use hero 9? Ps. I am jealous of you because you have open cafés where you live.

The video was great and I think you highlighted the main critiques in with the video being the speed and the camera tilt. To fix the speed, you could always film at 60 fps and possible slow it down to 30 fps in post, and that should still allow for a smooth video. Another critique I can mention is getting the altitude nice and steady. Definitely difficult to do, but the video was still sick!
@nickxc
@nickxc 3 жыл бұрын
Most noticable is definitely the high uptilt. When shooting an indoor space, my uptilt is typically under 5°. Flying FPV always feels slower in the goggles than it is, But I actually think your speed was good and easy to follow. The only other "mistake" would be the less than smooth beginning, getting to the front door.

First time through, I just wanted to visit which makes me think the story you tried to tell was spot on. Particularly liked the fly through the logo because you couldn't do that with anything but a drone. Fly over the cups was awesome, and good job actors for not looking at the quad. I actually didn't mind the speed change up the stairs because, who cares about seeing stairs?! Finally, the only gotcha I found was the zoom at the end out to the ocean didn't fit. As for the rest, I loved it!! I would have crashed twenty times going through there and probably have fewer friends now because of hitting them. Awesome job!

Definitely missed you the first time! I did notice the altitude changes though, coming inside through the door, you got low enough to blast dust up into the feed. Horizon lock could have been useful here as well. Also, maybe try 10 degree fpv tilt and 5-7 degree HD cam tilt - the cheers shot could have had better framing this way. Really nice work dude and I really appreciate you asking for feedback like this, it's just as helpful for me to try to critique it!

I think the main thing was the uptilt. I was looking primarily at the lower third of the screen, and I think that caused a lot of drifting/ wandering in your lines as you need to be more careful with your Yaw/ Roll mixing to turn smoothly and not drift off course.

It's was a very good clip and I didn't see where you were standing! but.. ok after you passed through the O you had some throttle control issues. I didn't really react to the sideways drift there. I was impressed how you handled the upstairs flying because for me... I have problems with stairs because you don't see any good references to keep you pitch. I did notice the high up-tilt though. But it is really difficult when you have limited time... i mean if you could sit in the cafe editing a little and then see some of the result and then fly again etc... it would be great. Conclusion is anyway pretty damn good! Well done!

Using a quad to capture footage of subjects on the ground is a whole different animal from typical FPV flight videos. To go slow, I have my FPV camera level, and the high res camera can even be tilted slightly down. To add value you need to get shots which could not have been done by someone just carrying a gimbal. But, you also don't want to make the footage about the flying and not about the subject. It's tricky.

Love this kind of video where we have the analysis and your thought process. I thought it was a great shot to showcase the cafe. The things that came to my mind were the angle of the shot being a tad too high, and the speed: not necessarily that it was too fast but more that you were having to slow it down at the start when following your subject, and then speed up again. To be honest, if you thought it was a little too fast you could always slow it down by a few percent in post (I've heard of other cinematographers using drones slowing down footage for more impact and a smoother look). Keep these videos coming!

Nice footage either way. And the wobble drives me nuts as well. Iv been lowering rates more and more. I'm in the 200s already and wanna go lower. But then again my wife can't notice a single thing I noticed either. Fpv is about polishing every aspect. And the less we see the better it looks to a non fpv eye. I wanna try a small 2 axis gimbal or even a single axis. Since I don't have a computer to use reelsteady. But I get pretty decent footage without it. Subbed ya as well. I thought I already was. Lol great content too.

The only thing I noticed was when you changed from ground floor to second. It kinda felt like you missed the glass and under shot and had to correct by stopping and just rising and then moving for word. But you could tell me that’s what you where going for and I would be fine with it.

Perhaps it was KZbin but fps gave it a less than smooth cinematic look. Still great though. Another area was once you went upstairs and past the two ladies., you do a quick turn to face them again before flying between them. Keeping them in frame as you went past (somewhat of an orbit) would have flowed better. As is, a drone shot is a dead giveaway to the audience. Last, when you follow the man through the door the fpv or angle is a little high. Not a mistake but caught my eye. Now I'll go back and see what you thought your mistake was. BTW. I didn't see you in the shot on the first pass. Overall, very well done. Better than I can do.

Firstly thanks again for another enjoyable vid :) I thought it was good and the speed change on the stairs wasn't offputting, I think you already knew the two frustrating points. The camera uptilt and final cropping were the two main things for me.

I think the mistakes were (besides that you made it in the shot🔥) probably having your camera tilt like 10° too high, and maybe that kinda hindered you from staying closer to the subjects or to keep that consistent speed? Otherwise a fricken dope video man and such an awesome opportunity!!

Great video, at the last door, a straiter pass would have given you a moore panoramic view of the beach. ( i think ). And camera angle as well as speed, couldnt you adjust the speed afterwards? But well done, pretty advanced flying, what would you do if you would have injured one of your friends?- do you have insurance aaaand first aid kit with you? Keep it up !

Hey Matt! Did you fly that in acro? Best tip for smooth indoor flights is to use ANGLE Mode and Angle limit 25%. Also, turn off air mode, that will prevent your drone from getting sucked into walls or other objects that you might get to close to. Also, your gopro settings could get some finetuning. try to keep a lower FPS, like 30 or 60 for smoother video. You should use ND filters and a 180* shutter angle, but that`s diffucult to use when flying outside to inside.
