Reviewing My Very First Roll Of Film | Voigtlander Bessamatic

Critiquing ALL of the photos I took on my first roll of film. All pictures were taken with the Voigtlander Bessamatic using the internal light meter and are unedited (aka exactly as I received them from the lab)

I could really recommend getting the horizon on either the top or bottom third, when using the rule of thirds. I really liked the picture with the storm brewing, but if you had placed the horizon in the bottom third line when composing, I'm sure it would've looked even more dramatic. Awesome to see your pictures and happy shooting! I also own the Bessamatic, i got it from my granddad and you're right! It's a tank

Welcome aboard to the film family. Beautiful camera and lens, this lens in particular is sought after by many due to its aesthetics and color. Pretty good shots for a first timer!

Hi. I just stumbled across this video tonight. I really appreciate and enjoy your enthusiasm regarding film and photography. About one year ago I purchased a film slr and I'm now addicted once again. Film has wrestled my heart from the grasp of digital and this love of film grows stronger with every frame on every new roll of film I try. It didn't take long to realise where this is going and how I'm going to get there. It's a joy to see someone discovering it as well. I'm looking forward to more in the future. Cheers from #7;-)

I use a Voigtländer Bessamatic too, thats the best camera i ever shot photos with. The Bessamtic had have a complete overhaul, including the replacemant of the Selen-Lightmeter, My preffered films Koda Portra 160, 400 Color Tetanal C41 Kit Ilford Delta 100,200,400 Ilford IHP 500+ Both Tetanal Ultrafine T-Plus , this is not a OneShot-Developer, You can, maybe 10-12 36/135 mm Negaticfilm develo with 1 Liter working solution, best developer I tried, also for Delta, Kodak T-Plus, Agfa APX and and My Bessamtic like ASA 100 a lot . I use , with other Bessamtic a Gossen ProfiSix external Lightmeter. The Voigtländer Bessamatic ist fantastic, in Black/White and in Color. Have a lot of fun with it, Enjoy! :-)

Thank you very much 😊 I wish you just as much joy, satisfaction and fun with the Bessamatic as I have it. I have, here in Germany the Bessamatic are still very cheap, meanwhile 3. 2 Bessamatic and 1 Bessamatic "Deluxe". But of which the Deluxe and the simple Bessamatic are now, finally, also in the general overhaul. One of them even had the focar lenses, all of them. This is the objective lens system for making macro shots with the Bessamatic. One more little thing, unfortunately the Voigtländer lens mechanisms also harden. I also had to give 3 lenses, 2xSepton and the 135 Tele for repairs. Fortunately, my "photo camera doctor" knows the camera inside out and can completely restore the Bessamatic. However, he no longer has a selenium light meter, his last light meter is now in my camera. However, when the camera and lenses are in good condition, there is so much joy :-) So, have fun and enjoy the Bessamatic!

@@firsttimewfilm Shooting film can be a lot of fun but it can also be very frustrating. This week I went out on the streets and shot the best pictures so far. When I got home I realized that the film didn't advance at all because I put it in the wrong way. Very frustrating but that makes me wanna go back out there and take even better pictures. How are you liking it?

You do get the idea of the gridlines, though, do you? They are supposed to help you set the important parts of a photo where the lines cross, not in the centre field.

Hahahahaha yea that’s why I threw them up there. I was a howing how poorly I did at varying my shots. EVERYTHING was dead center! 😅 So embarrassing but hey. First time and now I can learn from it

That’s not right. You can frame anywhere you want as long as it looks good. Here, he’s using rule of thirds properly. You can frame within the thirds, which themselves can be subdivided into thirds which he’s demonstrated in the video.

what film do i need to use with this camera?

any 35mm film should work. I used Fuji Superia 400 for this particular video. have fun shooting!
