This is the first video from you that I have seen. I have enjoyed it very much. Your review is very thorough, logical and methodical. You presented the facts, and supported what you said with images. I was particularly impressed with the time you spent dealing with high ISO’s and noise. Thank you very much!

Nice video! I’m looking at this Z5 and Z6, I’m a stills only photographer. I have a d750 and thinking about going mirrorless. I Like the idea of the Z5 with 2 SD cards and not the $$ cards. I would get it with the 24-70 f4. Here in the states, the Z5 is about $400 less then the Z6.
@RedImaginationbyGG4 жыл бұрын
Thank you Nancy! 😃 Everyone will have your own opinion about the low light performance, including me. To me, something will always seems 'not enough' because there's always be better option. I personally think that the low light is performance is still doing really well based on my test. The technology has gone so far. To be fair, you might want to pop in to a camera shop to test and compare the Z5 and Z6 yourself 😃 $400 less than Z6 will make this Z5 being priced correctly. Unlike when I reviewed this camera a few months back. If you mainly shoot stills, this works. Z5 and 24-70 f4 is a really good starter combo. Whatever you end up getting, hope you get the best one for what you need 😃

You're welcome Hassan 🙂 It is a really good photo camera. It's just ... why!!! Why's the price tag too close to the Z6 😆 Nikon might drop the price over the next few months though. I've seen that trend happened.

Thank for review. How is low light image quality compared to D750?
@RedImaginationbyGG4 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate. Once the shots taken, the image quality are both good in low light. I haven't done a proper test using the same lighting condition and same lens. But quick observation on ISO 4000 photos I have, the D750 has more film grainy look and I personally prefer that 😃 Plus if you're gonna shoot mainly in low lights, I'd suggest go to D750. Looking into EVF in low light can be really tricky. As it's simulating the camera setting, it can look really choppy if the object is moving. Just my personal opinion from shooting many low lights for weddings 😆 Hope it helps mate 😃

The LCD display is missing from the top. Does that affect you while shooting stills?
@RedImaginationbyGG4 жыл бұрын
Not by much if I'm shooting landscape as I won't need to change the camera settings too often. But I must say it will affect the shooting experience if you're shooting fast phase events eg.weddings. As you often needs to change the settings quickly. Without the top LCD, I will have to rely on the back LCD or EVF to look at/change the camera setting, which will slows me down by a second or 2.

Great review. Is the image quality (stills) of Z5 better than Z6 ?
@RedImaginationbyGG4 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate. Overall, the image quality on the Z6 is better in low lights because of the BSI CMOS sensor. In decent lighting situation, you won't be able to tell the difference 😃

@@RedImaginationbyGG how does it compare to a d750? Is the /z5/z6/z7 a significamt step up from d750?
@RedImaginationbyGG4 жыл бұрын
@@jamiecurrie4590 Hi Jamie, I feel the full frame Zs have richer colours, lighter bodies and surely more expensive to maintain (lenses, memory cards). But as far as the stills quality, I won't say it's a significant step up as D750 is a really good DSLR for it's size and the dynamic range. I won't go for an upgrade had I only shoot stills. For video however, it's a giant step up, and that's the reason I got my Z6. Otherwise I'd still be using D750 as my main cam. Hope this insight helps 🙂

Is the shutter button click or is it soft like z7 /z6

Hi mate, the felt more like my Z6 compared to my D750.
@subhashisbanerjee30984 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot for the reply. Subscribed. I have one more question, a little unrelated. Will be grateful if you can reply. I am thinking to go for Nikon Z7. Its a high pixel camera & my hands are not very steady & the usage will be fully handheld, so I am worried whether it will be subject to camera shake due to that. However it has good IBIS & I will be using faster shutter speed & EFCS. Kindly advise whether should I go for Z7 (interested due to its sharpness in the absence of AA filter) or some other lower pixel camera like Z6.
@RedImaginationbyGG4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the sub mate! 🙂 If your hand is shaky, the choice between the Z6 and Z7 won't be your actual solution though. These two cameras both have good IBIS. Not sure how steady your hand can be, to me, the IBIS is enough to reduce micro jitter from my hand. Obviously using the higher pixel camera will help the image to look sharp to an extent. The cons however are bigger file size, extra space to store the images, slower file processing and extra running cost. So the question will be ... do you really need the 45mp? If you do, by all means, go get it. Here's my thought ... shoot at faster shutter speed, use a tripod, or even monopod ... these would be the real solution here, regardless of your camera choice. Hope it helps 🙂

Thanks for the review but one thing you didn't not mention is the buffer (raw or jepg) in bust mode, as its FPS is awfully little, just 4.5 Yes, I'm of the same opinion that it's a little bit costly. If we consider the items in the bundle, the actual price may be higher than or equal to z6. It doesn't have FTZ adapter or extra battery as in z6. Moreover, it's offering a single SD card which is nothing compared to the price of one XQD card offered by z6. Another con is that for a full frame camera, Nikon is offering a cheap plastic mount kit lens. I love Nikon but I'm disappointed.
@RedImaginationbyGG4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for filling in the gap about the FPS 🙂 I guess because the market segment for this camera is not pro users. Hence the lower FPS compared to the other Nikon Zs. Price wise, I do wonder why Nikon tag it this much. It could be a strategy to push the sales of the Z6. About the lens, just like most cameras kit lenses, they're always feel plasticky. But as I tested it out, the quality really exceeded my expectation to be honest 😃 And you can always get a better glass if you want. Overall, I'm loving the camera for the size and what it's capable of, it's a great camera. It's just not being priced wisely, lol. If anything to be disappointed, I was disappointed with the flagship, the D6 😆 But just like any brands, these things happen. This is the beauty of the photography world. 😉

Rolling shutter seems pretty bad
@RedImaginationbyGG4 жыл бұрын
Good pick up on that mate. Rolling shutter generally easy to deal with when do photos. But I agree, it looks pretty bad in video. Just another reason that Z5 is made for photographers rather than videographers.
@sttv15704 жыл бұрын
Certainly not as bad as Sony A6xxx series, or even some A7 series. If you not moving your camera like crazy when shooting video, its really not a big issue. The Sony wins on eye detect AF hands down though.

Should i go for z5 or d750 which is more cheaper!?
@RedImaginationbyGG4 жыл бұрын
Hi Arghya, it's really depends on what you're looking for. They're 2 different system but they both produce great photos. They're both have dual SD card slots as well. Z5 is winning on the size, IBIS and video focus tracking over D750. However you will spend a lot more because Z lenses are more expensive. So if you want something lighter, with IBIS and need the smooth video focus tracking, and have more budget, go for the Z5 or even Z6. But if you mainly use the camera for photos and not care much about video focus tracking for now, go for the D750, it's a great camera and will be way cheaper to run when you factor in the lenses. And you can get F lenses with VR, which still gonna be cheaper compared to the Z lenses. Not to mention that you get more shots with one charge on D750 compared to the Z5. I still use my D750 to shoot weddings. It's got their own pros and cons. Really depends on what you need my friend 😃 Hope it helps.

@@RedImaginationbyGG wow! What's your wedding photography gear setup? I use a single d750 body for Wedding Photography. I'm considering adding a Z camera as my new main camera with the 35mm 1.8S, and put an 85mm 1.8G on the d750. What do you advise?
@RedImaginationbyGG4 жыл бұрын
@@joemeka Hi Jo .. I always use 2 cameras for wedding, with one back up body (luckily never had to use the back up 😃). Your set up using the 35mm and 85mm sounds great and I can imagine killer shots coming out of them man. Obviously there's no right or wrong with the set up and often it depends on the situation, eg. very small church or venue will lead to me using the 14-24. I currently using Z6 and D750, with the good old D700 as back up. During ceremony, I normally always have Z6 + 24-70mm 2.8S, and D750 70-200mm 2.8. Because I prioritise versatility in range to capture the moments and overall ambience during ceremony. But again, every photographer will have their own preference 😃 During preparation and location shoots, i prefer to use prime lenses, 50mm 1.4, 85mm 1.8, or 105mm 2.8 to get that creamy bokeh and compressed look. I think Z6 will be a great addition to your D750 man, especially when the mp size are similar! Z7 could be overkill for wedding 😆

Do you think it is justified to upgrade from D750 to Z5 for compose recompose and eye AF accuracy capability alone? D750 is okay for face AF (AF-C + AUTO) but not so much for the eye AF it is often focus on the closest thing to the lens like nose not an eye.

The body in my country is cheap, but whith the kit lens it doubles the price. Is a shame.
