Aww these two are my bird sharks! 😅😂😂 They are lovebirds! ❤ Thank you for your thoughtful review of my cage setups! I actually COMPLETELY redid the bird shark’s cage and ended up with a baby Galah rather than a IRN 🫣(DUCKY I follow your Birdtricks Q&A page!) so she has a different cage altogether. Your thoughts were so valuable and both cages are full of natural toys and perches. NO MORE TASSELS. lol Those were just a temporary decoration on the outside anyway. 🙃 Thanks again! Your help is always priceless!

Fibers from string toys and even walking on carpet can cause the fiber to be wrapped around their toes can cause Bumble foot and amputations. The fibers are hard to see sometimes especially on small birds. Check their toes often.

Water bottles make me nervous and my ringneck would hate it. I don't think he would eat as well. Plus I think they need to cleaned twice a day. Also I have heard of the ball getting stuck so no water is coming out and you can't tell. I always stick to bowls. The last cage would be fine for a bird room cage also. If you had a play area in a room the bird can go to play this cage would be fine for that also.

thank you for making this series, it helps a lot for my preparation to start raising a parrot. I have one suggestion for the video format, if maybe we can see the cage on full screen, and maybe the screen that films you can be on a corner (like in game streaming style), sometimes I have a hard time seeing the cage well and wish it was zoomed in more. would be also nice if the submitters send pics both from the outside of the cage and inside scope if possible. (also specify their birds in their application!)

The last one looks like one I got for my baby amazon when she was still being syringe fed! It was perfect for her to learn how to climb and move around, then once she got it down I moved her to her big girl cage lol it’s perfect for if you have a baby, and for when there learning to perch just in case they fall, they’re not falling from a high distance :)

That second cage setup looks to be the type of cage that doesn't have complete side panels. They just have wire on the ends, which is why you need the dowel perches in there to hold the wire up. Otherwise those end panels will bend if you try to attach other types of perches. Something to be aware up when purchasing or upgrading a cage. My bird managed to get his toe stuck in one of the clips that hold the wire panel on. Luckily I was right there and was able to get him out. His toe was swollen for about a week but he recovered.

"Yes!" to your sola cabin suggestion! I wasn't sure which of my birds might prefer this toy, and they were all a little "meh" about it in the beginning. I laid it sideways on top of my Hahn's cage for a few days, and sure enough, my lorikeet decided to start chewing away at it! (My Hahn's did not appreciate the raining debris, however, so I quickly moved it into the lorikeet's cage for her full enjoyment.)

Because I'm in a temporary apartment with my birds at the moment - the cages are really nothing more than a bedroom where I can put them while I'm away So they are in free flight around the room, where there are natural ropes, perches and other things where they spend the whole day

I am planning to get a Budgie and about a year or so, and I wanted to know what kind of cage I should have, what kind of food is safe for Budgie, ect... it would be very very helpful for me...
@butt1rcupa
@butt1rcupa 7 ай бұрын
As a current budgie owner i’ll help you out! The diet your budgie has should be around 60% Pellets, 30% Fruits and Veggies, and ONLY 10% seeds. You may think birds like budgies would be okay with just a seed diet, but that is very untrue. Seeds can cause many health issues, and reduce their life span by 50%! Seeds are a treat and are like fast food but for birds. You should also cycle your birds food so they don’t get bored. Cage sizes should be at least twice their wingspan length and width. They need enough space to fly and cages need to be tall as well as WIDE! Budgies fly horizontally nit vertically. You would also needs toys, stainless steal bowls, cuttlebones, perches, and mineral blocks. Toys should include bird safe materials NO HAPPY HOMES, HUTS, ETC. You should have foraging toys, enrichment, and stimulation, even destruction. Their perches should have mostly or all natural perches, don’t buy sand paper ones. Your house also needs to be bird safe as well. I won’t go into too much detail about this, although I well give some information. The temperature of your home should be 68*F at the very least to 75*F at most. No candles, fans, certain cooking ware as those have fumes when used and can kill birds, certain types of metal, sharp objects, etc. You need to remember that if you aren’t able to meet these basic needs then you are not ready for a bird. You are asking for the bird, the bird isn’t asking for you. You also should have a avian vet near by as budgies are extremely fragile and if not taken care of with precaution they can very easily die. Some bonding tips, always have good reinforcement when you are around them, take it slow, talk to them, go at their pace, remember that budgies are very skittish and not all of them like being handled. Never grab a budgie they will lose their trust in you. Don’t stare them in the eyes they will think your a predator. Hope all of this helped! ❤❤

Until Bird Tricks answer - as long as it is only feathers that were clipped, they will grow back and your beautiful RLA can learn to fly.

6 and a half mins in, I need to comment on the water bottle first, they CAN dip their pellets there. all my lovebirds do. and second, they can even bathe there -- not as well as with a bowl, but that's fine providing you separately use a bathing bowl. so the reason for it is to avoid pellet soup. because pellets left to soak in water will grow nasty very fast, and you simply can't change the water every 2h.

As far as natural perches go; don’t just go to your backyard or forest to get perches. Some wood is toxic to birds so learn what is appropriate and what is not.

With the Avian Flu around, I am so concerned about exposing my Birds in some way. Valid concern re perches, I do not know.

I like to use eye hooks 🪝 that screw into the wood for the perches I make to hook it over the bars is that a bad idea? I boil and bake maple wood for my reptiles and birds for perches and toys
