You guys should sell cages. I looked for an ultra wide flight cage for budgies and all the cages are taller than they are wide.

The way you provide feedback is with such grace! I feel like it could be intimidating to put pictures of our enclosures out there but everything you say is so warm and just proves how much you care about helping and educating all of us. Really enjoying this series.

I don't know what you're seeing...but there is so much snobbery in their asking followers to 'expose' their setups to them, and then just destroying the photos as if they actually describe the birds complete lifestyle and happiness...

Yes! That's a great idea!!! I have been searching for years for a bigger cage for my budgie! That would be perfect! But it would take a long time to do but it is possible if they got a good budget.

I had this type of cage before and my conure got his beak stuck on that S-shade design! Lucky I just got home and was able to set him free. New cage and a expensive trip to the vet, he survived.

I always put fresh Branches of Fruit Trees (Apple and Plum) on Top of the Cage, between the Bars so they are like little Trees. They absolutely love to chew on those, eat Leaves and sometimes climb on them. The Bark is usually removed relatively quick 🤭

19:08 might be like that for Cockatiels. Mine do have one of those Spiral shaped Rope Perches since I've got them at the Start of the Year and they don't chew on it. They do also have another Rope hanging from the Ceiling outside of the Cage and my female sometimes plays with it a little bit and this one also doesn't get chewed. Makes me hope that I can add a Rope that leads from their Climbing Area they'll get once I move, to their Eucalyptus Tree (if it should finally grow properly soon. For some Reason it isn't growing very well but I hope it will change because I grew it mostly for them to climb on)

Yes if you keep an eye on rope perches and replace them as soon as there’s any sign of fraying they can be fine for cockatiels! Assume it’s the same for budgies? I wouldn’t risk giving them to either bird if they chew them though. I hope your tree has been growing well! It sounds like your cockatiels are very loved 💕

@@EmL-kg5gn Don't know about Budgies. Only heard of Cockatiels not really chewing on Ropes usually. The Tree sadly seems to have completely died yet. But I do still have Seeds somewhere and I'm hopefully able to move soon. Only need to get one more damn Document until I can try to finally get a Apartment. It will be so great 🥰 Finally enough Space, more Light and the Cockatiels could also finally get a properly sized Cage

@@EmL-kg5gn it won't be a big Achievement. It will be a absolutely gigantic Achievement. My Life is absolute Crap since over 10 Years and once that works, I can finally live a normal Life again. Just worried because of Work because I've tried before already for Years to get a Job and it didn't work (except some illegal not registered Job where I've cared for Horses and Geese, which didn't even come close to paying enough to even properly buy Food regularly). I have so many Plans for when I finally have enough Space 😊 But I will properly first need 1 or 2 Weeks just to relax after having moved completely because I'm always getting way too exhausted due to all the Stress

We put two cages together to get a fat cage for our conure! I’d send mine but he has a cuddle hut lmao (not the house but fleece cuddle piece he leans into to sleep and I know it’s a nono but he’s a rescue and we are his third known home in three years so I’m trying not to change too much for him. He’s addicted to bells and screams when I try to remove them. Do I just suck up the screaming for his safety?
@BirdTricks
@BirdTricks Жыл бұрын
I would definitely recommend removing the dangerous items (hut and bells) as soon as you can. The risk is just not worth it. I think the best approach would be during a regular cage cleaning, rearrange the perches, and any toys that you have that don't have bells or material on them. At the same time add in new toys that are easily destroyed when he plays with them to raise your birds interest in the new items and help him feel confident. If you just go in and take out the hut and bells without doing anything else he will more likely notice they are gone. If your bird struggles with toy destruction here is a video to help train that behavior. kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZqDXmICLj7BjeKc

I have a question about rotating/changing toys out that aren’t being used. One of my birds is older and doesn’t play with toys as much and I still try to change them out but he also doesn’t stay in his cage much so I’m wondering if I need to change them out more often or add more variety inside?

I would hate to see that 30 yr old cage go unused. I definitely think powder coating it is ideal. If bird was in it more i could see the need for a flight cage. I do agree with more variety of toys. I found switching the cage up often makes a difference too. Once a month or during deep cleaning. ❤

I need to comment on this guillotine doors are a problem... because birds can open them but mine have gotten their necks "caught" there, and they just wiggle their heads out fine. I guess it depends on the size of the bird vs door, but for normal-sized doors, the problem is birds escaping, not birds getting caught and yes, I have put clips in mine now so that doors stay open (or closed in a way the birds can't open them), else letting the birds out gets tricky (especially since the hens don't even want to get out)

I got a rehomed bird that the previous owner insisted had several “favorite toys.” This bird hasn’t touched these toys the entire year I’ve had him. I don’t feel comfortable taking the toys down because the previous owner wants updates now and then, and I’m a sucker.

Perches. My conure’s cage is 36”x24”x30”. There is a perch that goes the length. It came with the cage and is a dowel. I got vet wrap and wrapped it Saturday. Today is Monday and he won’t use that perch. Suggestions on what I can do to the perch to make it usable? I paid $475 on the cage and can’t afford another. Sisal? Do you have any suggestions as to where to get that? Ideas on where to find an all natural perch? Thanks in advance.

Your leather tags can be dangerous for a bird who fixates on them. I know from experience. Once they're shredded, nails are easily caught.

do your own birds have favourite cages as they change from inside to outside to parents ? I know its unrelated and you did a video with how your birds got their names but I can't recall how comet got his as he's the opposite of a comet -

I constantly swap all the birds into different cages to prevent anyone from being cage territorial. Comet got is name from his coloring, we thought he looked like a fireball but liked the name Comet over Fireball. 😂
