Yes, l have a medium size king rat snake, which is a snake eater. I also had a black headed python that is a snake eater, that passed away, had the belly lump and antibiotics did not save it. I was thinking, this could have been an inoculation with snake parts, feeding. (Even though, they were frozen for at least 6 months!!) Have heard the parasite can even survive freezing. I'm just speculating. I am hereing you can get very good results with bovine collustrum. I think a week of doses. Going to try this. It's not always a full blown cure, but can give the animal a decent life possibly and it's safe, basically a probiotic. Thanks for covering this issue, as most breeders won't talk about it. We need to all get thru this together.

Very valuable information and important information here. It's a tuff thing to deal with when you have lots of snakes as most Breeders use rack systems that house snakes very close to eachother.

This is a great, informative video. Thank you for sharing! (I’m playing catch up on your videos. Took a break from reptile videos for a bit.)

Great paper, glad to see you covering it. Means I don't need to stop my research to make a video, lol.

Thanks for doing this video, lots of really good informative information. I'm in my second year at Uni studying animal welfare science and I'm doing a presentation on crypto in snakes, the review article in your video has really helped me out with it, Thanks again :)

Hi Does hog affect with cryptosporidium poop a bit here and there. And before it died, I would regurgitated ?
@kzoomin Жыл бұрын
Important question regarding testing for cryptosporidium. I understand try to get the freshest sample as possible. But also does it matter if the snake is in the shedding process or not? During stress a dormant/asymptomatic crypto will more than likey to start showing symptoms? Will the fecal testing still be effective during asymptomatic stages? Thanks

Also 3-4 negative test results in a row required to eliminate false negatives. So is that 4 weekly tests within a month or spread out once per month. Sorry for all the questions. Thanks

Can’t believe I’m just seeing this video. So based on the modes of transmission you discussed.. does that mean it is not airborne?

Thanks for this info. If I read that part correctly it was C. pannus that was killed by steam, not C. serpentis, the kind the snakes get. Also very sad to hear that their are false positive tests :(
@shovelnosehogs2 жыл бұрын
It's very little research done on serpentis. Theoretically, all of the disinfectant techniques should work on all strands.

Why do you think it’s so common in hognose? I know it can effect any snake but I see a LOT of hogs getting it hmm 🤔

I was just thinking about you....weird...I didn't see that you posted. I was driving. I was at the pet store and there was the feistiest baby hognose. It almost played dead. They thought it was a male...it's definitely a female and I want it! Enough though it almost bit me...I think. Or it was just bluff striking with its mouth open. It was gaping...putting on the whole show...
