Seeing someone who's so high rank make such blatant mistakes in my rank is crazy. I'm far from the best (obviously, im Dia) but he's doing things that give me heart attacks, especially his skybox valks and standing still on first point highground. I'd love to see a review of a GM game of his to see how he improved

he improved alot, i watch him alot on his early plat and diamond game, he was so bad, but his last day or in master 1 game, are actually really good, i think he improve huge amount

@@springiscomingwithastrawberry Getting to GM isn't all about having the best individual performance, The difference between plat high plat and low diamond is simply fewer staggers. And not "none", just fewer. People trickle and stagger and do dumb shit all the way into GM. Ladder isn't the same environment as scrims, and it shows. Sam has played the game in scrims and such so even though his individual mercy play isn't god-tier, he has good callouts and generally passable macro play for GM. Top 500? Prolly not, needs more work, but GM5? Sure.

I’ve been watching his stream and he’s improved a lot ! He still doesn’t have many hours on mercy so he makes mistakes (like we all do!) but he’s a lot better.

@@josephdavis3472 the only reason he got to gm was because of his game sense and his comms. other than that his positioning, awareness, and decision making was so bad most of the time. he rarely got punished for making bad decisions, like i was hoping hed struggle and learn more through trial and error but i feel like he kinda got a freebie cus of how bad ranked is ☹️ he did say he wanted to take the ur2gm to gm1 though, so maybe we will see more improvement then.

Not to gatekeep, but I definitely think Samito's ability to coach his team is what got him through his unranked to gm. While some of the bad habits go away as he gets further in. Most of them stayed.

That has always been a big thing in ow and the reason why I loved this game! I remember a OWL coach saying he didn't have the mechanical skills expected of his elo, but he made up with great macro that he would pass on to his team

Mercy and Moira are who I play when I want to relax and not break my back lmao she takes positioning/ target priority knowledge and that's cake if you're not blind or brand new to OW. Mercy has and always will be the backpack hero

oh the moment of anxiety when he plays away from cover and hits the sky box 😭😭😭 thank you so much for the review ski!! honestly the recent trend of non support slash non mercy players doing u2gm with her is so funny to me. i feel like in metal ranks up to probably plat? people are allowed to get away with silly plays and not worry about positioning much but after that it's just so punishable. especially when you don't count in the angles any dps (specifically snipers) could have on you. i noticed a lot of people realizing that through their gameplay lol. kinda ironic but i understand they had to try her to get it. have a great weekend ski 💗

I know I heard Samito say a few times that you really can't make a mistake on Mercy if you want to win which was sorta validating to hear LMAO I don't think there'll be an overall shift in the opinion about Mercy but we can only hope

The thing with Mercy is she's the ultimate "just don't die" support. So even though he doesn't know the little nuances to min-max her playstyle, his 900IQ understanding of positioning and game sense alone is enough to get his Mercy into GM. It's similar to his Brig gameplay tbh. He understands how the games works on a macro scale better than almost anyone and this carries whatever support he plays into top 500.

I used to do commentary videos (both reviewing/explaining my own gameplay and reviewing other players that got coaching from me) but they didn't do well enough to justify continuing to do them. You can see all the past ones on my channel though!

i’ve noticed an EPIDEMIC of frontline mercy players with the glock out… it makes my eye twitch so bad especially bc i’m a pretty decent mercy (thanks to ski’s content!) but they lock mercy before i can😭

omg same its so bad and they never heal or only heal bit and never damage boost and every time im playing a role and have a mercy on my team im like "damage boost?" but nooo only healing. mercy is so much more then that. or even worse when they STAY on mercy even tho you are running a dive comp and there isnt really somebody to damage boost.. sucks tbh

Honestly its really dependent on situation. I really dislike seeing those who solely glock, but sometimes its important since shes the only one capable of pressuring a certain angle/cleaning a kill up, so it might not be a bad thing. There are a few who really keep pulling out glocks for no reason tho and its really frustrating lol

I feel like maybe he didn't know bastion ult could be damage boosted? I wonder how his gameplay looked toward the end of the UR2GM. Anyway, this is a pretty helpful video, because I see a lot of Mercys play like this - too much defaulting to heal beam, too many illegal (and punished accordingly) reses. Also remember to trust your co-support.

I love the tip to dmg boost bastion alt and taking corners also the dmg boost targets getting better and better with mercy just won 5 games in a row and master 2 now mostly play ana and kiriko but now with mercy in the mix winning became even easier thanks alot

When I see non mercy players or low tier mercy players is their priority of damage/healing targets. As for Samito's he needed to let his other support support, as Mercy should not be healbotting the tank unless critical and in need of a "love-tap" to stabilize. Also positioning, going for any rez possible and when to damage/heal boost. Damage/healing boost is the teter totter(idk if spelled that right) and must be strategic on who gains it at the moment. Also jumping too much or superjump too much or carlessly in front of hitscan characters or standing in open fire.

Could u maybe review some Bogur Mercy play? I think it would be fun. With that said, I watched a lot of Sam doing this journey. Being someone that carries a 72% win rate with Mercy I was constantly screaming at the screen lol. I love Sam but you could so see the DPS mentality coming out in his Mercy. His constant skybox Valks had me seriously cringing. And omg watching him to to play with Pharrah was hilarious because he learned very quickly just how stressful that can be.

I just don’t ever trust the other support to heal the tank so I help heal whenever I see tank critical. Most of the time, gold tanks are borderline trolling the game and you pretty much HAVE to healbot them or your dps

It's funny to me cause I feel like everytime I play with a Bastion, they always ult out of my sightline so I miss damage boost. Here every bastion ult has been right in front of him and he still misses it 😅

My point is that it's messed up that countless players and streamers have exposed people that get placed in lobbys 2 ranks higher than their rank or more, for no reason. It's messed up that nowdays it seems like all you need to hit GM with a hero you have barely played is to get a new account. That's what's messed up. You can't say Ski's Mercy skill level is the same level as Samito's, yet they are both in GM, even with Samito doing huge mistakes that would be hard punish in silver, not even in gold, or plat or diamond, IN SILVER.
