To me it’s a tie between the sad interaction with Sigma, as well as the mythology behind her Valkyrie/Sigrún skins, and its custom ultimate voice line, “Til Valhall” (Norwegian spelling - I think she says Valhalla instead though. Either way it translates to “To Valhalla.”) Neither the Valhalla or Sigrún skins are that good-looking, but the mythology and culture behind it, combined with the custom voice line, makes the Sigrún skin one of my favourites. As a Norwegian, it just makes sense to me.

That's one of my favorites too. I actually forgot they changed it twice since, if I remember right, Amplifying Biotic Stream was only in the PTR and everyone was very underwhelmed by it

The anniversary cards are so cool! Mercy's representing change must be about how she is very set in her ways and while her and moira could do great things together she's too concerned with being pacifist and moira is too concerned with rushing progress. After i saw this I was curious what moira's was too since theyre both my mains and if anyone is curious hers is the nine of hearts, which symbolises enjoying today and not worrying about tomorrow basically, which is perfect for moira, seeing as she is so concerned with breaking humanities limits, she's hurting herself.

4:55 Apparently you can get Env Kills with way more characters than I thought. Even characters who don't have any way to boop someone off the map. It's honestly pretty cool, imagine you're chillin then suddenly you hear a voiceline for a Sombra Env kill

I would like to point out the latin phrase "Primum non nocere" is Do No Harm,but it is also the phrase of the Oath that doctors swear by called the "Hypocratic Oath". The oath is named after the Greek doctor and philosopher Hypocrates, the father of mordern medicne. Angela is a doctor so at onw point she had to swear to "Above all else, Do No Harm" so she has it on her uniform. (but she carries a pistol that does quite a bit of damage so idk about her keeping that oath.)

My aunt is in the United States Nurse corps. She’s never played overwatch nor has she touched a different game other than super Mario bros and Mario kart. She told me a while ago that when in the fields for war or violence, nurses have “code” names in case they get captured by an enemy. Her code name is “mercy” because of an interaction with a soldier while she was stationed in Pakistan a while back. Thought I would share 🤷‍♀️

That’s because the caduceus was originally a symbol of Apollo, the god of music, the sun, and *medicine*. Hermes tricked him out of it, I believe.

Tbf the caduceus staff would also work because of mercys kit. The fact that she has wings and quickly flies around the map to her teammates is very hermes like, and given that a lot of the times mercy is a scout, itd also work with the whole "messenger of the gods" thing

Here's one! A red cross on a white background (ie the Red Cross emblem) is protected under the Geneva Convention, meaning that her toast victory pose is illegal and in violation of the Geneva Convention -- this is something that happens a lot in video games and makes for some very funny patch notes. I hadn't actually thought about this til now, but this might be why she's Swiss: the Red Cross emblem is a deliberate reversal of the Swiss flag colours and the movement originated in Geneva, Switzerland

Here's another useless fact that wasn't in this video! When Mercy is slow falling in game, if she holds her pistol instead of her staff, her model raises significantly higher into the air! You can try this out if you have a workshop code for 3rd person. Just float off of a ledge and swap weapons back and fourth. :)

Torb is canonically Mercy's adopted dad, isn't he? After her family was killed in the first Omnic War leaving her a young orphan, she was relocated and taken in by the Lindholms. Her interactions with Brig about the last slice of pie has a very big-sister to little-sister feel to it, too.

Something that bugs me since i noticed it, when you reload mercy's pistol, the part that extends outwards from the pistol clips through mercy's thumb.

@@Skiesti i just got the ow2 Seoul skin for mercy and it doesn't do it, but a lot of them it does this little bug, even with lifeguard. And also one of the reasons i don't use sugarplum as much is because on her staff, the green leaf, the thing that turns when healing/dmg boosting clips a little bit also, so when i use it i always try to get it not to clip, maybe an OCD thing lol

It's an INCREDIBLY common mistake and a lot of devs just stick with Caduceus because it's what's more widely recognizable. I can't imagine calling Mercy's staff the Asclepius Staff and Blaster but maybe it's just because I'm so used to Caduceus by now LMAO

The red and white "medical symbol" on the original overwatch skin is actually the Swiss flag as its a square, the Swiss flag is not a rectangle. There seems to still be a huge misconception between the mnedical symbol and the swiss flag.

Not to derail about Mercy but Sigma really has a choke hold on me. He's the most poor little meow meow of the whole cast, I think. That interaction was so sad 😭 I like to think they'd make good friends :') I also love how much Sombra looks out for Sigma, too. It's really cute.
