I have a similar pad from another brand with the same valve. When deflating the pad pull out the flap on the inside of the valve. That will allow the air to vent out "handsfree" while rolling up the pad.

A major issue I see with a lot of outdoor equipment companies is providing adequate descriptions of their products. Sometimes this applies to vital information (such Decathlon and a lack of information for backpacks like torso length and waist belt length).

Heck, when I was a kid we bought plastic pool air mattresses to sleep on - pretty much same dimensions as this particular pad but the one I used as a kid (mom and dad and aunt also used same kind) probably cost in the 1960s, about $1.69 or so. The only problem with those is the valve fairly leaked and often the mattress would go flat. Still, the price was right!

I have a Teton pad (different model) and love it. I live and camp in the Deep South, so the insulation isn’t absolutely necessary. My sleeping bag and/or wool blanket gives plenty of insulation and warmth if I need it. In fact, it feels good to get cooled at night, even in out “winter”. Mine came with a bag in to inflate it with, so I didn’t have to hyperventilate myself to fill it up. It is extremely comfortable. I’m 5’2”, so have zero problem with the size.

Thanks for review. I really like Teton products, they provide decent quality at a reasonable price. I was able to get out and enjoy backpacking for a budget friendly price. I have switched out gear along the process of getting more experienced on what works and what doesn't work. I have to say I haven't switched out my Teton sports backpack and that is because it works for me. I am looking for a different pad, but this one doesn't fit what I am looking for. I am glad you review so much products it gives me a edge when looking for gear and you have saved me lots of money in my journey of hiking and enjoying the outdoors in comfort. Thanks for all you do Luke.

@kenwebster50532 жыл бұрын
Regarding R value of pads, in my younger days I used one of those thicker space blanket tarps as a tent footprint. This offers enough under pad insulation to sleep comfortably on an uninsulated pad to -3C or so. Assuming you are otherwise using an appropriate bag & sleepwear etc for those conditions. However, I do use an xtherm these days.

Agree that a darker colour would be more appealing. The prairie fires and resulting char and soot make for a messy experience, but the outdoors are a must. The temps have already dipped to 0*C. Insulation is, important.

Mr. Picky says that is far from a baby blue, which is a very pale, flat color. He also says that you have confused 'objective' with 'subjective'. Your preference in color is subjective. "The simple fact is: I don't like it." You could have an objective reason for not wanting a pad in that color. It is not good for stealth camping, for example. Simply not liking the color is subjective, a matter of personal taste.
