Justine, I live in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I have a friend (also in Pittsburgh) who is an expert dressmaker and I'm sure she could adjust your dress to add more room in the bust without altering the design. If this is want you want to do, let me know and I will give you my contact information. From my experience working with alterations, I advise you to take care of this sooner than later. You might have to order the dress's fabric from France...in order to make it slightly larger. It could take weeks or months just to receive the fabric from Europe. I wish you the best and appreciate your videos! I've learned a lot from watching them!

I've seen the world's oldest all original clock. It had been running since 1390! A few years ago, they finally had to do some repair work, so I believe it's no longer all original parts, but still one of the oldest in the world. It's also an astronomical clock with the earth in the center.

I would never make that cake LOL. And Justine- I think you look gorgeous and healthy the way you are. As a person who has worked on many period costumes (mostly for operas and operettas) I know there are ways that a good seamstress can alter it... I know you don't like to think of that, but it's true. Good corsets help also, but I'm sure you know all about that. Anyway... hope something works out for you and I know you will be gorgeous in your dress no matter what. Hugs!! 🥰

For the clock, when it next chimes on the hour. Turn the minute hand backwards, stopping at each chime until you reach the time it is chiming... Then move that minute hand forward again at each chime until you reach actual time. Works on our clock.

Please check first, though, with a "clocksmith"! This works with some clocks, but will damage others (especially antique ones).

Justine. If your wedding dress laces up you can use a stomacher to cover the gap between the lacing. I don't know if it's back or front lacing but you can still use a triangle or rectangle in a similar color or a contrast color. I know you can't get the same fabric but a stomacher would work.

The idea behind so many early American clocks having an image of Mt. Vernon on them, was that we were a young country, and the best we could come up with for decorating our clocks as the Europeans did with their famous castles and palaces - was the home of our Hero - George Washington's Mt. Vernon. It was like.... "Well, we've got Mt. Vernon!"
@jparr175 ай бұрын
Called a "Pillar and Scroll" clock - and were made through the 1820s into the 1830s. Has a wooden mechanism, and these were one of the earliest mass-produced clocks in the US. Seth Thomas, Eli Terry, Silas Hoadley, etc. were among the first manufacturers of these. I love it! It's a treasure - hold on to it! (To correct the strike - CAREFULLY move the hour hand to line up with the amount of strikes once it goes off on the hour) And yes, it's going to be temperamental - the wooden mechanism can even swell and contract with the the weather. Think of it this way....if you were nearing two hundred years old, you can afford to be fussy!

Seriously though, the non-educated or less educated nuns did the manual labor like cooking, laundry and growing vegetables, while the more educated ones did the artsy and intellectual stuff, like hand painting sacred books, embroidering altar cloths and priest's vestments, or checking the accounting books. If they only had women from wealthy families, they could hire some of the local women to do the chores. This wasn't a "privilege" thing. It just made sense to assign to the educated nuns the kind of work they did, and likewise to the non-educated, because teaching someone to paint or embroider takes a lot of time. The educated nuns have been painting and embroidering since childhood because that was the "education" given to females at the time. Nowadays, it's more equal since everybody gets more or less the same quality of education, so they rotate chores amongst themselves.

If the chime is simply off- time, there is usually a wire "lever" that releases the chime flywheel. It's often visible at the base of the face piece. Try releasing it by lifting it up without moving the dial hands, essentially catching the number of chimes up to the correct hour.
