I was just reading the summary of Amsterdam and then came to your video. It seems like my desire to read his text is increasing and I will ❤️

I have never read him. Nutshell sounds interesting. I loved the movie Look Who's Talking which is from the babies perspective starting from the time he is a fetus (in case you haven't seen it). I think that is an interesting perspective to tell a story from. Out of all these books First Love Last Rites was the one that seemed to be the most interesting to me. That is likely the first one I would try even though you advise against it as it seems to be something I would enjoy. If I do and don't enjoy it I will be sure to give him a second chance with one of the others.

Yes - I really liked Nutshell mostly because of the perspective it's told from. I haven't seen Look Who's Talking but it sounds like I would enjoy it! How cool that First Love Last Rites was the one that piqued your interest. Let me know how you like it if you do decide to read it, and thank you so much for the comment. 😊

@@knowwhere6446these stories put me off him completely- these stories were so questionable

Your review of Amsterdam is so accurate: the ending is nonsense, the title doesn't comprises the core of the story, and all subjects never get to the point. Yet, there are some spots in the story that are worthy. So frustating to see a good idea poorly executed.

The best books were the run that starts with The Cement Garden and ends with Black Dogs. The others? Too stuffy.
