Keymod is actually superior for “SD” type rifles because the mounting hardware is a little slimmer. M-LOK (like on the honey badger SD) doesn’t always function perfectly on this application because the screws interfere with the diameter of the suppressor.

@@gunsnmammons Yep, it looks goofy but it actually makes a good amount of sense. Keymod isn’t all that much worse than M-LOK in terms of rigidity/zero shift and it’s a worthwhile compromise if it means the suppressor can have a larger internal diameter IMO.

@@gunsnmammons Daniel Defense has stated that this is the reason why they used Keymod on this rifle. M-Lok accessories would not fit due to the width of the can and the size of the M-lok attachments. You can always replace this rail with the Daniel Defense MFR XL M-Lok rail, but your accessories may or may not work.

Yeah Keymod sucks but at least it’s cheap now. If you can find anything.

As seen in someone elses comment. key mod was selected because of the integral supressor. The suppressors diameter is too big for mlok and quad rail would not be practical either so they went with keymod as keymod still allows you to attach lights, lasers and foregrips to the end of the rail. Especially useful since most integral supressed rifles are often used with nods and other night vision equipment

Awesome review as always!!! I think it would be cool if DD made a shorter rail that stops at the suppressor to give it a flush sbr look even tho it’s not. Just saw that 9 and 10 inch ddm4 rail. Wondering how that would look 🤔🤔.

Keymod actually allows for more versatility in terms of mounting rails/lights/grips/etc with the suppressor underneath. M-LOK requires longer mounting hardware that would interfere with the suppressor, while with keymod they can maintain a larger suppressor diameter and still install normal accessories (with M-LOK you either have to shorten the mounting screws or the slots around the suppressor are useless).

I asked myself that too. But as he mentioned they probably were thinking about making it as slim as possible while still allowing users to put accessories all the way up front.

My MCX Rattler sounds much better with subs than that DD ISR using my Sandman K. Not really impressed.

I am using my personal experience of shooting my MCX and Daniel Defense SBR in 300 Blackout with my suppressors. Not impressed by the DD can or you.@@Henry_Aguirre214
