Thanks, the video makes it more understandable asthe manual. Just one question. my batery shows the whole time it is bysy loading. It is niw the first-time I used it after I bought it a month ago. After I used it for 4 hours, the battery is low. I put it on for another 2 hours and could only whatch about 10 min before it start beeping again. Any specific way to see how much battery is left. If it is on charge, the bars run the whole time. If main supply is of, it show 20%. I chareged it for long time.

Should I always keep the inverter connected to mains or would it be better to disconnect from mains once the battery is fully to increase longevity? 2. Hi there, 1. Yes you should. It will charge and discharge by itself. If you disconnect it, it will start to discharge by itself. 2. It’s running on a by-pass so not directly through the system but if you over load it, it will beep to alert you that you are exceeding its max load 3. You are a second person to note that. It seems like an issue on some. 4. Use the battery unit it drops to 50% and then let it charge up again and do this for as long as possible. Do not drain the battery to empty that shortens it’s life a lot

Good Day. I have the 1 KW Kool 12V Unit. Fanatstic but our loadshedding has depleted the battery. Only works for 1 hr after all the loadshedding schedules. I got a new battery. Hi, Thanks for the video. My unit has started beeping after a half an hour of use (6 months old). I understand that the battery may be dead but the display shows it is full and never shows any load (above 25%) which I find odd. IT is being used to power TV, DSTV and internet only.

THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION IS WHAT IS NOT BEING SHARED: I have such a unit . Unfortunately I lacked so much knowledge at the time of purchase. It initially came with a lead acid battery which I had to replace within 6 months due to high number of power outages, besides it being a low quality battery. Also made many mistakes where I discharged battery beyond 50% and often plugged in something that uses too much wattage at a time that really destroyed the battery. Although lead acid batteries don't mind that too much, hence that is the type of batteries being used in cars for to start-up a car a high wattage burst through quickly. Gel and lithium batteries prefers minimal wattage over long duration. However, the big disspointing factor is that you can't really manually setup the invertor to your needs (which brings the question whether it is really an invertor as that is the crucial aspect of an effective invertor that ensures battery longevity), nor can you add another battery to the invertor because of the poor internal parts of the invertor that will not be able to handle the additional wattage. Hence, one battery in use will mean shorter battery life as if you use 2 batteries for the same wattage. So the best you can really do is to replace the battery with an 1200W battery (gel or lithium) which will give you 4 hours maxed out on a 300w load (which is not absolute). However, best to use it only for 2 hours and to recharge after 50% discharge. All-and-all, for the same price you can get a much better setup custom made with a trolley and 2 batteries. Some advice, don't purchase invertors from shops. Seek a qualified person that can create for you an invertor setup according to your needs (what you want your invertor to power-up and for how long). Nice demo would be nice to see some one use it with solar, also with load. 1. Would you know if the unit is connected to solar panel and also the mains, which would be priority. Does it use both or just solar until that doesn't supply enough energy then swaps over and uses mains power supply? 2. I assume it does not charge and supply at the same time, like lithium am I correct? So if connected to solar and power goes off is there enough solar supply to power a few units and charge battery or how does this work. Rather a big area and yiu just said in video and here is where panels are connected.

The single battery unit has a small solar charge controller so it can only hand 25vdc panel which is around 200w.

The battery is dead - it needs to be replaced - look for a 12V 100AH Gel or AGM battery - the size needs to be 407x174x209 (L*W*H) or smaller.

In theory it should work if the LifePO4 Battery Management System fakes being an AGM or Gel battery - also you are going to charge it at 10A max and LifePO4 is designed for 20A so it is going to take a while to recharge. Some people have done conversion BUT the inverter was not designed for this sort of battery - I contacted RCT in JHB and spoke to somebody in technical and he said they will be looking at a LIFEPO4 solution with a local provider but until then they are not going to warranty it.

You can add another battery to it and double the capacity - the batteries will be balanced and will drain both equally as fully draining one battery to empty is a bad idea. The issue is the recharge time me thinks - it takes 5 hours to recharge a 100AH if you used up 50% of it's capacity - you now sitting with two batteries to recharge using the one charger so usage and Stage 4 and higher there might not be enough time. Maybe somebody can comment.

Hi. Thanks for the informative video. Just a quick question: I purchased a 1kw kool energy trolley inverter with a lithium battery. Once the unit is plugged into the mains, with the battery at 100 percent it beeps 3 times occasionally. I have the alarm turned off on the interface. I have a TV plugged into the inverter. Is there something wrong with the inverter? There are no fault notifications on the inverter so I'm not sure if it's normal.

I did contact the person that made this video via email and he mentioned that he did come across a unit that did the same thing and it's due to the firmware on the inverter. What I notice is that if I switch my inverter off then on again, the beeping stops for like a day then comes back again.

Also thanks for the very important mention of not overloading or over-discharging it, it had been humming along for months and has yet to drop one bar of charge on the screen, and I think it’s due to us not having more than 500W load and never discharging more than 50%. Philosophical thought: why not just make the display show what you should be doing, i.e. even though it’s 1kW, why not show 500W and let people ‘use’ 100% of this rather than all the math 🤔

I have not heard of that issue before and I don’t recall seeing that in the manual. It must be an issue with the firmware. If it’s under warranty take it back to where you got it from and they should be able to swap it out. If it was a Mecer unit I would have been able to assist/direct you.

So sorry for the delay, at 300w on a 12v system it would pull around 25A. To allow for longevity of the GEL/AGM batteries, we try to keep them to around 50% depth of discharge which in this case is 50A, thus it will power that concentrator for 2 hours safely. it can go more a little more as well - there is battery power just that in the long run the battery will start to lose life. I suppose the better option would be to add a battery to this or go for the bigger unit that comes with 2 batteries.

Yes, in parallel i would say up to 4 would be a soft limit and you would need to make up a wiring harness for that. The user manual does not specify a limit at all, I just think the time take to charge it all up again might be challenging if they all go down as it charges at a standard 20A rate and with all the batteries being in parallel the system will remain at 12v. I also prefer when wiring in parallel that the first and last battery be connected to the inverter itself to almost ensure the current has to pass through the entire parallel branch before moving across the unit to ensure all batteries drain around the same.

Since it does charge at a reasonable rate you could add more, I would just ensure they’re wired in first and last battery in parallel to the inverter which is a little tampering with the wiring and you wouldn’t want to void the warranty so like you said, better to just stick to adding just one more.

It’s the max running output, I have never pushed them that hard on test. I would recommend around 500w on the unit unless you really have to pull more for short periods as the single battery won’t last long on duration otherwise

My pure sine wave inverter is set to "01" mode for AC mains as preferred power, but after a day on AC the fan has not turned off yet, is this normal? When plugged in to the wall the first time, the fan went to full speed like in the video, but then went down to about 20% speed and stayed there and would fluctuate every now and then. Does the fan ever turn off on this inverter or is it on indefinitely? My modified sine wave inverter's fan turns off after the battery is charged, but not the pure sine wave inverter, is this normal? I have the 12v 1000w Inverter.

You can, but ideally you would want to have matching batteries or atleast the same 100AH size else you will struggle to balance the discharge level between them. Think of the battery as a fuel tank, if you have different sized items one will drop to empty faster than the other…

guys I bought one of these units 3 days ago I had 1 fibre router 6 mikrotik routers a 8 port ubiquity tough switch 3 computers ( 1 nuc 1 micro server and a small hp pc) 2 24 inch screens this device ran threw the 2 and a half hours load shedding and it had a like a 25 % load the battery was more then half I'm impressed today I ran the same setup minus the 2 pcs and minus the 2 monitors after 5 hours only 2 bars were gone.

You appear to have nuisance tripping, that is more related to the load items like your stove and geyser overloading your earth leakage. A customer had a similar issue whenever power came back and had their geyser and stove taken off the earth leakage.

I have my Mecer inverter running on my live aboard boat with no shore power. Charging the unit is 4 x 140 watt solar panels connected in parallel. According to the owner’s manual solar input is 15 - 24v and 30 amps. My solar array runs at 21v max and 7 amps per panel (28 amps total). I use around 2kwH per day and the system is more than capable of handling that. Brilliant piece of kit. Just don’t try and charge it with a generator. It simply kicks in and out with no charge to the battery. Maybe a pure sine inverter generator would do the trick.

In theory it should work if the LifePO4 Battery Management System fakes being an AGM or Gel battery - also you are going to charge it at 10A max and LifePO4 is designed for 20A so it is going to take a while to recharge. Some people have done conversion BUT the inverter was not designed for this sort of battery - I contacted RCT in JHB and spoke to somebody in technical and he said they will be looking at a LIFEPO4 solution with a local provider but until then they are not going to warranty it.

Hey do you have one of these units? The red means there is a battery protection on. Try this, turn off the unit and the breakers let it stand for 5 minutes. Then start it up, and let it run on inverter, battery mode - do not connect to power. When the battery gets to 50%, plug it into power and monitor.

But after use I charged it by the AC point for our next loadshedding for a view days but the batteries did not charge? Recharged? The answer is technically yes. I am piloting lithium batteries now on new units but this unit does not have battery user settings and the lithium batteries do require some custom settings to get the most out of it. That being said I do know of clients who do use them. I do have an inverter that’s similar powered that we build specifically with a lithium battery. I have done a full video on it, just have to edit and load it. Will try to get to it this weekend.

Hi Andre, the manual was incoherent with regard to the modes as you say and switching between the modes i didn’t find anything different and I didn’t have a solar panel small enough for this single battery unit to see if the modes priotised solar in any way. I have since,!not had an identical unit but the Mecer branded version of this unit which no longer has the function button so not had a chance to see what the function does. Do you have any feedback on the meaning of the 3 function modes?

It appears the modes are as follows: mode 1: prioritises the grid, i.e. the mains power when on will flow through the device and keep the batteries charged. Batteries kick in as on normal UPS. Mode 3: prioritises input from solar panels. I have 3 12V 150w panels which is about the 500w PV max the system is rates for. In this mode the charging process is prioritises to the panels allowing one to operate independent from the grid. Mode 2: the batteries are prioritised over the mains - this is a bit confusing still to me but I think it means that as long as the batteries are above the rated min charge, the inverter will blesses power from them rather than the grid. I think that once the batteries get low then the grid is reconnected to charge them. All still a bit confusing but important to ensure cry’s one uses the right mode.
