Hi Mell! I’m proud to say it’s my Mell-iversary. I discovered you one year ago and you saved me, not just my hair but my mental health too! My curly hair was always “my thing”, but bad brands, bad advice, and pandemic/life stress caused it to suddenly wither and die. I didn’t feel like myself anymore, I didn’t feel beautiful anymore, and the world didn’t feel right. I couldn’t figure it out until I found your channel. I absolutely love the Kinky Curly Knot Today. It has amazing slip and helps so much with detangling, especially when I'm lazy or too depressed and go a few days than normal without washing my hair. It's so moisturizing too but lightweight enough for my fine hair. It's definitely my favorite product in 2021.

And speaking of hard water, it's another terrible issue I'm having that is wreaking havoc on my hair and I don't know what to do! PLEASE HELP!

@@palestar828 Not Mell, but since you haven't heard anything specific back, have you done some basic analysis of variables? What has changed since flash drying started? Have you moved/had house work done/has the city done work on water lines (different water conditions)? Have you put anything new in your hair (in any part of your routine)? New styling or drying techniques (new towel, new tool, new method, new application order)? Did this come alongside a change in seasons? Try taking one thing and changing it for a short period of time to rule out different variables as individual causes. Then, consider combining changes if one variable doesn't affect things (eg, "maybe I need less protein in my shampoo/conditioner, combined with a more gentle towel" or something like that). Especially if you haven't changed your routine since the onset of your issue, maybe you need to look at the nutrients you're putting into your hair. Are you meeting your hair type's (porosity +) needs, or are you applying a routine that works for someone with different hair needs than you? E.G., For me personally, my hair often doesn't like/need supplemental proteins, I think. If I over apply them, my hair will feel like straw - smooth ish, but super dry and unmanageable... I'd look into your porosity to try to determine the "macros" your hair may be looking for Beyond that, for hard water, she specifically mentioned Bouncecurl's "ayurvedic deep conditioner" in a video on routines for her viewers different hair types, which specifically mentions that it's suitable for use with hard water - I'd consider looking into more "hard water" specific products if you know it's an issue in your living situation! I've heard that hard water can wreak havoc on people's hygiene/beauty efforts. Maybe the hard water over time is what has caused the onset of your issue? Since you mention aloe, I'd re-emphasize product application order. Make sure you're not applying sealing products before other products intended to give moisture! If you're applying products in the wrong order, some may not do you any good! I'd consider looking into more of her videos on products and styling routines, because she mentions a lot of this kind of thing! I'm no stylist, but wanted to offer some outside perspective since no one else got back to you - if you haven't figured it out yet, good luck!

The Mielle babassu and mint deep conditioner is my favorite!! It lists all the amino acids it contains by their actual names, so it is trickier to identify, but it definitely packs a protein punch that is amazingly balanced with lightweight moisture! Thank you for the reviews, Mell 💞

I love that you did a personal review of the naturally curl award winners. I have very fine 2c-3a hair. I have been having a horrible time with my hair. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and no matter what I use my hair is dull and brittle and refuses to curl at all. I'm thinking of trying to use some of the bond building products in the hope that it will make my hair stronger.

I loove that you don't hesitate to show your hair as it looks in the a.m.! My own hair is 2a-2b -- hardly curly, especially since it's short right now -- and yet I literally wake up with it standing on end. My brother's hair as a teen was stiff as a brush but it was very coarse/straight, so that makes sense to me but I feel other hair types defy gravity. The wrap around method for the Denman brush CHANGED THE ENTIRE GAME for me! That's exactly what I was missing. The traditional way of using the brush still left some hairs "uncurled". With the training method, I'm able to curl every single strand. For reference: I have 3C long undamaged hair. The weight of my hair drags down the curls. Using the handle of the brush is the only way I can have curly coils vs wavy half coils. Thanks Mell!

Never knew there was a special way to care for c h because no stylist ever said anything when I complained about my frizzy does its own thing hair even when blown out or straightened. Then came you. I'm going natural after my daughter said my gray hair looked beautiful during Covid. Almost grown out from homecuts thanks to you and it's healthy. I no longer fight it. Hey Mel, a tip for the Innersense shampoo is to lather with more water. My hair is very very very fine and thin, so probably 'easier' then your hair to make it work (because girl, if your hair is fine ... i have like 'no hair' hihihihihi). But my stylist uses it also and she advised me to: use a little and if you want it to be more foamy, add water ... And it works! Maybe this is something you can try, if you haven't already of course ;) Love your channel

I definitely swear by the Mielle deep conditioner and the doux mousse product as they are some of my preferred products. The doux mousse is hydrating and i've used it for 3 and 4 day hair when I want to add extra moisture. Plus, there's added protein for curl definition. I use the Mielle deep conditioner for both when I straighten my hair and when I leave it curly. I may check out the serum since I've been llooking for a good one. I haven't found any that works for me beside the Kerrasse one you've suggested a couple of years ago. I have the shea moisture cream but haven't used it. Will do during the summer

You need to try the pomegranate honey line from mielle. The leave in and curl smoothie (not getting up to check the name loll) were life changers for me when my friend got me some to use on my daughter as she was given it to try and she lived it.

Congrats Mell!!! I love the Mielle deep conditioner and use it religiously, though I'm surprised you didn't see all the protein...All those ingredients that ended in -ine are amino acids!! Glycine, alanine, leucine, arginine, proline, valine...those are all building blocks of protein!

I am the BIGGEST fan of The Doux! ALL of Maya's products are fantastic in my hair. I can use the Mousse Def product by itself for my kinky curly, dense, coarse hair. Mousse Def is also moisturizing on it's own, which I love! I haven't bought the Kinky Curly Knot Today leave in in so long, but after this video I remember how much I used to love it.
