As I was watching Aaron Rodgers do his ayahuasca retreats in the new documentary I got a warm feeling inside knowing that Edgerin Cooper and Evan Williams are part of the Rodgers Jets trade tree. LOL

Sending Watson & Stokes to Madison for hammy issues has proved succcessful. If I were Gutey, knowing how much $ is invested in players, I'd send dozens of players to Madison.

The Green Bay Packers 2024 offseason was a masterclass in terms of balancing fiscal responsibility with competitive ambition. By strategically divesting from aging contracts and investing in promising talents, Green Bay has effectively set the stage for a new era in Green Bay Packers football. With a solid core of young talent and strategic leadership in place, the Green Bay Packers are not just rebuilding, but reimagining their path to continued success in the NFL. Go Pack Go 💚💚💛💛

So statistically, we are top 10 the thing is we’re in the hardest division in the league so we have a top offense that faces two of the best defenses in the league twice a year and two of the best offenses twice a year, so our statistics are even more impressive when you consider the level of competition
@EricS-w8s3 күн бұрын
Had not thought about it like that. But you are right it is impressive that we faced 2 of the best NFC offenses twice, and the defense numbers are still good, plus the Eagles offense as well
@Matt-yq3gq2 күн бұрын
@@EricS-w8s they haven’t faced the Vikings a 2nd time though, and they’ve given up 30 points a game against the Vikings lions and eagles. Impressive? No that’s the knock on this team right now. Haven’t been good enough against the best teams.
@EricS-w8s2 күн бұрын
@Matt-yq3gq True with the Vikings but still I think Def is much better especially against the run which is nice to see
@jamrodgers1212 күн бұрын
@Matt still can't deny that it's been much better than Barry who made bad offenses look great. Like making Tommy Devito look like Tom Brady. We haven't seen any of those games against average to mediocre offenses. So I will at least take that for now. The transformation was likely not gonna happen over night but there is no doubt this defense looks much improved from the atrocious defense last season.
@Matt-yq3gq2 күн бұрын
@@jamrodgers121 at times yes, Barry and the players allowed that to happen. I just believe fans overvalue the DC, undervalue the players importance in the results. People like to hate on Barry but ignore his playoff performances or how the D kept an awful offense early last year in a ton of games plus the dismantling of the chiefs and lions or the fact that their D did actually do what they were supposed to when they held multiple teams in teens or under 10. No one’s talking about Tommy devito if Nixon and Love don’t give the ball away 3 times and the packers O puts that game away instead of hurting the D. Points allowed between last and this year are identical. If we’re honest with ourselves, a talent wash at some spots at worst and improvement across the defensive roster and a different DC or Barry, how different do we really believe it would be results wise this season? They got arguably the best safety in football, I believe that alone has been a larger reason for defensive improvement than anything else and ultimately if they give up a bunch to the Vikings and in the playoffs, the end result is not much different.

No ones talking about this. With literally zero help from 3rd round picks, the team would've been better off keeping Rasul than trading him and a 5th for a 3rd rounder.

Yes, indeed Douglas would give us such a boost at defense! Historical, such a bad decision ,any time Buffalo calls about a trade ,we should not answer the phone!Gute will never admit he was wrong on this one!

My post wss in reply to Andy's topic. It wasn't the offseason but has had an impact on this year. Either of the two 3rd rounders could prove Gutey right in the long term, just not correct so far.

I mean if you go by PFF Valentine and Nixon are having better seasons. Even Stokes isn't haven't that much worse of a season. Not what we got for him looks great right now but he hasn't had that good of a season individually.

Its also hard rating coaches than fans want to admit...You get rid of a coach then you add X, Coop, Evan Williams, Javon Bullard and the 2023 rookie class gets a 2nd year....I bet 90% turnarounds happen because better players are added

Prime Gary, prime Jaire, all pro Campbell, prime rasual, prime Kenny… Barry had all of them at there best and still sucked
@Matt-yq3gq3 күн бұрын
@@matthewpulizos3444not really. Jaire wasn’t available for most of that either. Gary was hurt as well. Prime Clark was before Barry. You had a good Campbell for only 1 season and you can argue it’s because of Barry. And if we’re honest the 2021 defense wasn’t bad nor was it the reason they lost in the postseason. I don’t say this to say Barry was good, but the talent and performance of the players absolutely matters. It’s going to come down to performance against top teams and playoff performances. What Hafley does there will provide better evaluation.
@EricS-w8s3 күн бұрын
But Barry scheme was a 1 size fit all scheme where Jeff scheme is more team specific, so while the players are very important, so is the defensive scheme that the DC employs.
@jamrodgers1212 күн бұрын
Barry always coached a bottom 10 defense. He litterally has nothing positive to point too in his career as a DC. X has been the only consistent guy who has played 90% of the season out of all the moves on defense. Ja has been out for a good chunk of the season. Williams didn't get a ton of playing time until week 4 same with Cooper who still isn't really getting as much playing time as he should. Let alone the few games he was out. Bullard has been in and out with injuries and because of Ja being out he hasn't been in the best positions to succeed. Having said all of that we have looked much much better than the previous 3 seasons. Yet you don't think even a little of that has to do with Hafley vs Barry? I'm not saying all but Hafley certainly has looked much better as a player caller vs Barry prevent all game defense.

I would have to say goody has had a relatively excellent year. I would have referred Cooper dejean over Jordan but if Jordan works out it may be just as beneficial in the long run. And everybody else seems to be doing fine you can't be perfect nobody is. I will say that it seems like goodies strength of his staff is the pro personnel department. He seems to find guys that are on the rise and is able to project them forward as excellent players as they're hitting their peep.

Watch, this off-season Gutey will draft a big? in the first round like he always does. Then, he will draft at least 3 CB's starting in the 2nd round and a few OL and DL the rest of the draft.

I don’t agree that they navigated the O-line well. GB is 2 injuries away from disaster on the O-line. So far this season, GB has been very fortunate to basically be injury free with their 5 starters. How many times in the past 25 years has GB’S starting 5 offensive linemen all made it through the entire season without a significant injury (meaning an injury that keeps the lineman out for 3 or more consecutive games)? Not many! GB’s Achilles heal this season is their significant lack of depth on the offensive line. And GB has been VERY fortunate that this hasn’t bitten them yet. But they are playing with fire there because they are only a couple of plays away from having their season wrecked at anytime. This scenario would be a terrible ending to the very promising season that is underway especially with the playoffs right around the corner. So in my mind, GB has done a poor job in ensuring they had an adequate amount of depth on the offensive line. Hopefully the Packers can continue to get away with this weakness for the rest of this season; but they have to resolve this problem before the start of next season. Go Pack Go!!!

The CB room neglect, the Clark overpay, and nitpicking elsewhere is enough for me to drop a grade into a ‘B’. Those were easily predictable and they for sure could’ve addressed corner in the draft early . Whether or not Kenny would’ve hold out or something is unknown but that’s a big overpay that prevents resigning or addition of better players and the front 7 as a whole still isnt good enough. Can’t really complain otherwise.

Transformed the safety room from mediocre to best unit on defense. Upgraded at rb while going 3+ years younger. Getting a future stud linebacker. Looking like a future top 5 LB in Copper. Yes for this season Dejean looks like the better 1st round pick but tbf the only thing wrong with the pick we took has been the injury bug which can impact litterally any player. During his very limited action he has looked promising as a lineman and lineman are super valuable. I think overall Gute has done a very solid job. A B at worse for sure.

You are dramatically overestimating how much a GM can do. Even with those this year is an A+. Ryan Poles hemorrhaged draft Capital in a way that will have consequences for a decade and he’s probably a D+ or C- candidate.
@Matt-yq3gq2 күн бұрын
@ if there’s obvious misses, my point is I wouldn’t ever call something an A or A+. And yes a GM could’ve done exactly what I’m not providing an A for. What Poles did is irrelevant to the convo.
