Hi Chris, Thank you very much for reviewing these Rab jackets. I am looking to purchase one of these and your video answered a number of questions important in making the decision on which to buy. Great job and thank your for taking the time to share your knowledge.

Wonderful informative video!!! I was gifted the microlight infinity last Christmas and it has been one of my most worn jackets. It’s just so good for so much of the time.

That's a nice gift! Those lightweight down jackets are really great for so many situations. Just about every company makes something similar, as they are very common used. I hope that you get a lot of good use from it.🙂

Hi and thank you for the great review. I was just wondering about how the warmth compares to something like coreloft? Would you say it is as warm or less warm than an Atom Heavyweight?

Down is typically warmer pound for pound, a bit lighter weight, and more packable. This Rab jacket is what I would say is a "medium weight" down jacket. It is warm for it's weight, and I would say warmer than a "medium Weight" coreloft jacket like the Arc'teryx Atom. The Atom Heavyweight is just that, a heavier weight jacket. I own the Atom Heavyweight, and I would say that it is warmer than this Rab, with it's 120gsm of insulation.

I love Rab jackets. I own 2 fleeces, the microlight alpine, mythic ultra and the resolution. I enjoy their down products as the feathers tend to stay in.

Hello, Chris. Sizing info/details/nuances would be very helpful. I resided in south Texas for a long time, so I lived in shorts and a hooded sweatshirt, with a long-sleeved T-shirt considered my extreme winter layer. I hadn't had a down coat/vest since the 70's until I got a RAB last year. It's a struggle to know what will works best when you're between sizes, L & XL in my case, and I have to find both sizes in stock and order both sizes to make a determination; there's always a little doubt. I'm a 44" -45" chest, and my waist/hips all equate to XL sizing. Thanks.

I'm 6'2" tall and 215Lbs, and the XL fits me nicely. With room for a light layer under it if needed. These jackets do fit true to size. They don't run bigger, or smaller. It's hard to say which size is better for you when you're in between sizes. These jackets are very warm for their weight, but they are not as warm as some heavier down jackets, sort of middle of the road as far as warmth for a down jacket. So, it depends on how cold it gets where you are, if it gets really cold, then you may want to size up to the XL so that you can wear a layer under it if needed. If the weather is not that cold, and you can get away with wearing the jacket stand alone, then maybe go with the L.

According to reviews. I heard it's the opposite in terms of durability. Infinium is 13D, vs Pertex being 30D. So what you're saying also doesn't make sense according to the specs. 13D vs 30D, that's pretty light and delicate. Many reviews said they owned both and had no issues, but has issues with getting rips/holes with the infinium

Good point. I went by the information on Rab's website, that shows the durability of the two jackets to be equal, even though the face fabric of the Infinium is lighter. I understood that to mean that the Infinium is must be a tougher material being that it's lighter and just as tough. The Infinium is a more expensive jacket, because of the light Infinity fabric making it a bit more packable. Also, better for windy cold mountain conditions. I may have choose to use the word durable a couple times to mean "better suited" for cold windy environments. Sorry, for the confusion, I get your point. It certainly would make sense that the 30D would be more "durable" than the 13D, but I went by the ratings on Rab's website.

I think the zipper on the left is an european thing. I looked at my jackets from Rab, Mammut, Dynafit, Ortovox, Decathlon and they all have it on the left, the only notable exception being Salomon.

I hate when companies put those annoying, high friction suede chin guards on nice soft low denier nylon. As a male it makes your stubble feels like Velcro on them
