REVIEWING the TECHSEW 510O-SE: Part I - Intro & Background (Why buy a leather sewing machine)

Hi everyone! TECHSEW asked me to share my honest opinion on my TECHSEW 5100 SE with the flatbed attachment. This is part one where I share the background for how I decided to purchase this machine and my thought process on investing in a leather sewing machine. Yes commissions can be a stable business model! I would say it’s about 50 50 now with commissions and ready stock

Glad I found your video! My neighbor is going to help me set up my 5100 SE today. But I am a nervous wreck thinking I bought too much power. Can you tell me how this machine works on about two 2 oz. leather pieces (four oz total) for wallets and bags?

Hi Donna! I would use a size 18 needle and size 92 or 69 thread. Also, you can loosen the tension on the presser foot and tension on the thread so that there is not too much torque on the needle. I’ve sewn canvas and cloth and leather and everything here so should be ok with 4oz! Please let me know if you have any questions. I’m active on Instagram as well @damonmarkmadeit // Thank you!! 💯

I am so glad that I found your video! I've done interior drapery, pillows, etc, but during the pandemic, I fell in love with Leather and here am learning as much as I can. I''m like you, I go hard in the paint from the beginning! I'm loving this craft and I'm thinking of this machine! Did you buy directly from Techsew?

Look forward to more of your videos. I'd love to be able to just invest (financially) into the craft, until I can make some money from it.... but I'm B.R.O.K.E. broke.... so I've only got what I can earn to invest.... (*sigh*) As an aside - if there's any way you can get a lav-mic or move your mic closer, that would be helpful. One can get a cheap mic with an adjustable arm on amazon for like... 25$... they produce good sound. (I got one for the podcast/youtube video's I've been planning to record for.... 7 years.... each year getting newer and better stuff.... and not doing it....) alternatively, one can get a lav mic which can connect to the phone or whatever you're recording from, for like.... 10$....but if you go that way, either spend a bit more for wireless, or get a cord extension, otherwise, you're tethered to the phone/camera like a short leash.
