This helped a lot. I am a beginner at leather crafting, and want to make bags, I initially thought that a flat bed was a good starting point until I saw this video. I could have shot myself in the foot. Good thing I started here, with this video, and now I am more/better informed. Thanks for the great informative vid!!!

Hey! Glad I could help in some way. Yea a flat bed is somewhat limiting. The cylinder arm machine with a flatbed attachment is so much more versatile.

Wow, I was considering purchasing one of these machines for canvas truck canopies new and repairs but with all the negative comments was reluctant and skeptical. But after watching your video I now understand what to expect. With a little fettling, that I can handle and a sturdier base, I was thinking of mounting it on a piece of pipe with a truck rim for a base so it can be moved around the shop floor. I think this will be a simple easy machine to maintain and repair when needed. Thanks, I am so glad you took the time to share this with us. Play Safe From Elliot Lake Ontario Canada.

I just found you today. Great video! Thank you! That really helps a lot. You not only showed the qualities of the machine but how to use some of the functions. Since I know nothing about industrial machines it makes all the difference in the world when I can pick up any little bit to the entire process! I'll have to look at your videos to see if you go over the entire usage of the machine.
@carilynjurgeson61782 жыл бұрын
This info. is EXTREMELY helpful. I really like your machine. I want to look it up to see what kind of feed it is and bobbin capacity. I have a extensive handbag collection with mostly vachetta leather. I like to modify them to the way I want to use them and especially the straps. I have done some modifications by hand and also have used a local shoe repair, but would like to do them myself by machine. I could see myself sewing canvas for outdoor awnings, umbrellas and upholstery if I had the right machine and I would have to get rid of something to make space for it. I own 4 different machines for various purposes to domestic sewing and quilting. When I get to the end process of my quilting, my domestic machine can't really handle some of the thick multi-layer seams I do. I also sew a lot of denim that my domestic machines can do, but I think an industrial machine could handle it with ease. Thanks for sharing!!!!

Great video Ryan. Perfectly explained and a great display of how this machine works. I have the Techsew 2700 with the flat top attachment. So far I have enjoyed my machine. The fold down guide arm is great, it definitely helps with keeping layers lined up. As for the laser, I've not had much us for it. However that could just do with the items I'm making. It is another good item to have on your machine. Only hang up I do have is not actually with the machine, more with support. Supporting a mechanical item with out seeing the machine can be a lesson in developing patience. My machine is presently having an issue with "back stitching" and hitting the same holes that were made during the forward sewing action. This issue happened after installing the speed reducer. I've engaged their support and they have been responsive and answered all the questions I have as well as giving as much instruction as they can with the info I've been able to provide them. I'm confident this will get resolved, it will just take time with the way their support model is setup, which is phone and email. If anyone has questions I'm happy to assist.

It’s an older Necchi 840-100 and comes with a rotating bindery attachment for binding seams on bags. Picked it up for less than $1000. I put a speed reducer and servo motor instead of the massive clutch motor it had and I’m very happy with it. I make pillows, bags, backpacks, desk pads, and other items. Get a used machine to explore to keep the entry cost low. Learn it. Then decide what sort of machine fits your needs. Most machines are very good at specific tasks. Most are not good at a wide range of tasks. It’s not like the home sewing machine, you now? We wish it was more versatile, but they’re not. However there are machines that sit in a sweet spot for doing a few different tasks. For me the Cobra 2600 or the techsew 2750 would be my next one. I want larger thickness, thread, and stitch capabilities. Best of luck!
@seanc33625 жыл бұрын
That one stitch stepping motor is fantastic! Thanks
@davidmiller58325 жыл бұрын
Awsome Video! Just a Note: The needle position is done on the motor, which could be used on any industrial machine. A servo motor with needle position is only about $150 if anyone is thinking about it. Be sure to look up the wattage of the motor. Some are very weak, so very cheap. A 750 watt Consew CSM3000 is a good choice, IMO.

Contact Ron at Techsew and he can give you the best answers ... but, that 5100 is a Beast! It could very easily sew through what you are looking to do. Best to choose your machine based upon what you will be making. Industrial Machines are not like home sewing machines. Industrial Machines are designed to do one thing very well. For your Webbing ... if you are going to want Zig-Zag, the 5100 will not do that as it is a straight stitch only machine. Again ... Ron will be able to guide you to your best choices. Have a look through their selection online, through their website ... many machines for many uses. High quality for a fair price.

Will the machines made for heavier duty work, work for the smaller projects too? Or do you ultimately need both?
@robf24035 жыл бұрын
I've used #12 all the way up to #22 needles in my Pfaff 1245 and have sewn everything from 3 layers of 14oz leather down to a napkin. It's all in tuning the machine, when stepping down to smaller needles you need to move the hook assembly closer to the needle. When using different threads, you need to adjust top and bobbin tensions. Unfortunately most people don't know how to make those adjustments, and when they do, they make matters much worse or damage the machine. So it's possible if you know what you're doing, but not really worth the time and effort when a good home machine will barely set you back $100.
