I absolutely can't stand that movie. There's bad Christmas movies that I can still sit through, but this is not one of them. I think because it's one of those situation-comedies where all of the situations were easily avoidable if anybody in the film acted remotely normal. It just feels mean and silly and hard to believe.

I feel like the concept of Christmas With the Kranks (with the ending changed to ending with the couple on the cruise. As opposed to the almost haunting ending of the actual film) could be a great anti-christmas (as in the inverse of a Christmas film as opposed to one railing against the holiday) film for those that for whatever reason don't feel like celebrating the holiday. With a slightly toned down version of the town, it could have been a great comedy for those that hate the pressure to celebrate Christmas. Especially with the fact that the inciting incident is the couple not feeling the Christmas spirit because their family wouldn't be whole, since their daughter would be away (tapping into a relatable idea for parents) instead of them just being a pair of Scrooges (which gives it that neighbor asking "why aren't your Christmas decorations up?" angle). It's a shame it ended up the way it did istead of the funny yet touching anti-christmas comedy it could have been.

As I’ve come to understand it, Kirk Cameron is VERY much not a chill dude. He’s a former child actor in the 80s who found god and then, allegedly of course, went completely crazy. Massive ego, weaponizes his religious beliefs, REALLY bad at arguing against evolution. I often hear his own denomination considers him an embarrassment-but I’m not an evangelist. As I recall, he was horrible to his fellow actors back in the day, too. Just sort of a garbage person, I guess.

What annoyed me the most about Christmas With the Kranks was the part when Tim Allen’s character insisted on giving his neighbours a ham, even though they told him they don’t eat ham. Other people would have been disappointed that they didn’t get any ham, because he insisted a couple who don’t even eat ham take it!

" Santa Claus Vs. the Devil" is the first one I don't think I've ever heard about. "Surviving Christmas" is the second. "Mixed Nuts" is the third. "Karate Christmas..." is the fourth. "Merry Friggin' Christmas" is the fifth. "The Yummy Gummy Search for Santa" is the sixth. (I did like the red bat.) "Elves" is the seventh. Never heard the Mariah Carey song, never knew the movie existed. "Christmas in New York" is the eighth -- at least the art is pretty. "Santa With Muscles" is the ninth. Thank goodness I have spent most of my 70 years watching items from my childhood or youth.

OK so apparently the reason Christmas in New York is so confusing is because its a movie starring a bunch of characters from other series that the studio worked on- with Ari Winner and Fox being the main characters of a series named Winner and the Golden Child, said series is a sequel to an insane adaptation of Sleeping Beauty and also Fox first appeared in a sequel series to a ripoff lion king show called "Simba JR Goes to New York" so like....ok I feel like this is an INSANE rabbit hole I NEED someone exploring the mondo animation universe
