a foggy forest map with no doors, but lots of trap holes to force players to slow down. the fog is so dense that you cannot see more than 4-5 feet in front of you. enemies can consist of bug types only, and even new bug type enemies like a big praying mantis or giant bees. plenty of fantasy type insect monsters the devs can cone up with. the thing the trap holes is, you won't die instantly however you can get out by climbing a ladder, at the bottom of a trap hole there would lie a spike trap.

My idea for a map would be an abandon village: Empty cobblestone streets, with half-lit street lanterns, medieval tudor-style town houses, an abandoned inn, a marketplace with food left to rot (barrels and crates), an old church, dark alleyways hiding unknown threats etc.. It could have been taken over by spiders, goblins and kobolds (non-ice ones). So there'd be spider webs covering some of the buildings, along with improvised goblin camps/shelters with cages for their prisoners (the previous inhabitants perhaps?) An idea for a second layer could be an abandoned mine that was connected to the village.. likewise with kobolds and spiders. With underground rivers (maybe the occasional raft drifts through there, allowing adventurers to escape?), and mine shafts that slowly rise, leading adventurers to safety. And finally a new type of spider boss (kind of reminiscent of Shelob?). Perhaps the mines could have a moveable train cart that you push and defend, moving it through the map to use it to smash the doors into a loot room.

Ever since the play tests I always thought it would be cool if they made a pirate ship map that had dead pirate skeletons etc. i also thought it would be awesome to have the down portals/down static’s take you to the bottom level of the ship where it is more dangerous and darker. An idea I had for the map instead of it being 4x4 or 5x5 it could be a 3x5 or 3x7. Also instead of inferno it would be awesome to have some kind of Davey Jones locker where the theme is ocean like with dark blue and green designs and the bosses to be undead famous pirates like black beard. Just an idea I had a while back this video reminded me of it.

Watching your video and thought of something cool when you were showing the vampire part. That pic you showed for the boss room made me imagine a boss room that you had to jump into rather than walking through a door, making it so your only way out would be to beat the boss! I think this would be an interesting gimmick, and after the boss is defeated, it would allow you to access a treasure room with escape portals depending on your game mode (one for solos, three for trios). I would like to see this with the dragon boss, as it would make the fight more intense knowing your only way out is through the dragon, and would make it so that people jumping in after the boss is dead will have to kill each other if they want to survive.

Cause right now walking in on a boss fight you can just grief the boss killing party and dip out, but this new way would imply that if you want to go in, you better know how to kill the boss yourself or you're just dead.

A couple ideas for a map theme I had were an Orc castle and a Wizard's Tower. Could be something like Docks(with 'blue' dingy ships > Courtyard > Fortress with an Orc Chieftan and his closest clan as the boss with many orc/goblin/troll/wolf enemies. This could have a large Water Mill in the courtyard you can use to ride up to the balcony level, skipping stairs. For Wizard, something like Grove > Tower > Astral Plane with the Wizard boss. Enemies like elementals, infernals, harpies and drow. The astral plane is where the Wizard is residing, you chase him through his pensive portal into his mind where he lays before you a labyrinth in which he is at the center. I also like the idea of more interactive environmental devices like chandeliers, tippable braziers, spikes and other traps activated either by lever or button. Maybe they are one time use so they're not too op. And I love the idea of a pre-game Tavern lobby area/gathering hall with either chat or voice chat functionality/inspecting.

i would prefer it if you can use anyones soul without any conditions to escape. being able to take your teammates soul to exit would lead to funny interactions between teammembers over who gets out and being able to take enemies corpses souls regardless if their teammates are alive would make corpses a very important objective to fight for.

An idea that some/most might find neat or bad would be throwables, it would be really cool to see if we could get throwable pots in the game. Kind of like dark souls, where you can have pots that deal magic, electric, fire, or frost damage. Even a throwable that could emit a light orb to reveal hidden rogues if one suspects there is one. Magic dmg pots that also help deal damage to a phantomized warlock. Those would be nice for classes that have no magic, or spell abilities like fighter, barb, or even ranger.

the different types of magic are not as pronouned in this game as they are in souls. its really just holy magic that is extra good against warlock if even that. maybe in the future this would make sense. they did just add another elemental based perk for wizard after all. for now, I don't see how a molotov or oil lantern doesn't do exactly all those things. except for the light orb thing but invis is its own convo.

I've been thinking about this idea for a while now. It would be awesome if they introduced some new stuff for weapons and armor. Like, imagine if we could find upgrade crystals as loot to customize our gear. It would definitely add more depth to the game and make it more fun. Here's how I picture it working: you could find crystals of different rarities, from grey to unique, each with better effects. For example, a common upgrade crystal could increase damage to certain monsters by 5-15 percent, like boosting damage to beast-type monsters by 10%. These crystals could be found in small chests and from mobs with a 10% drop rate. Then, there could be uncommon upgrade crystals that increase magic or weapon damage by 1-3, found in medium chests and mobs with an 8% drop rate. Rare upgrade crystals could add health, armor rating, magic resist, or move speed to armor, with a max of +5 Hp, +30 Ar, +30 Mr, and +5 Ms, found in large chests and from mini-bosses with a 5% drop rate. Epic upgrade crystals could add poison, burn, or frostbite effects to your weapon, like dealing 2-3 damage per hit with poison(scales with rogue poison), 3 extra damage every hit with burn overtime(scales with magic damage), or slowing move and action speed by 3% per hit for 3 stacks with frostbite, found from mini-bosses and small special chests with a 3% drop rate. Legendary upgrade crystals could give your weapon a dark, light, fire, ice, lightning, poison, or wind affinity, each with its own abilities, found from bosses and large special chests with a 1% drop rate. And finally, unique upgrade crystals could completely change the appearance of a weapon and give it a crazy ability when combined, though I'm still working on the full idea for this one. These could be found from large bosses and large special chests with a 0.01% drop rate, please Let me know what you think. You would also have to get rid of artifacts.

Love this kind of video! Hope we see some more like this. To expand in the Vampire map idea; First map is a village with vampire spawn and cultists. Second stage in the castle, werewolves, vampire spawn, bats, subboses- three witches, Frankenstein monster. And the final stage, top floors of castle, vampire bat men and more werewovles cause why not, organ room with Vampire boss battle.

Bit late, but I wanted to mention an idea I saw on reddit a while ago. They mentioned doing away with the dark swarm in exchange for a vision based punishment type of game. In that, as the game goes further on, the natural lighting (torches/braizers/etc) go out and leave only the darkness that would be left in such a room. All light is then player based and they are almost required to bring a lantern. On top of this (might have been a different person), adding a new enemy to the game that lives in said darkness and attacks players. Almost like a boss that is meant to incentivize players to gtfo. I know that the first idea was a part of a whole slew of other ideas like gems being used for shrines, effectiveness being equated to the rarity of the gem, but I don't remember all of the post. I really think that this mentioned part would go hard though. Forcing players to leave and fear the dark rather than just treat it as a nuisance. On top of that, it would make the maps a little more scary, especially with 3-stage maps. Like the first stage with natural lighting isn't a big deal (ruins), but after there's no moonlight or anything, you're now given an ultimatum: die to the boss of that floor or leave. Of course, I'm hoping it goes without saying, but that boss shouldn't be unkillable. Rather it should be incredibly difficult so that it almost seems like you need at least 6 players working in unison rather than just one REALLY stacked team.

I like the flood mechanic, specially if there are several build/temples around the map, so instead of being a single last zone, it could have a few of them, and you could end up caged with lot of enemies or maybe not one at all. Also different builds can have different heights, so choosing a high one, will give you the more chances to find a portal, but it also means that probably more people will choose it, when on the lower buildings you may end up not founding a portal at all, and maybe gonna have to take your chances of moving underwater to another building, risking to drown, or die to underwater mobs.

I've always thought about it but never wrote it down: A dungeon master game mode in which you get to design a dungeon with the existing modules for players to raid, select enemy spawns, traps and maybe even puzzles! Ofc this would mean a new game mode so perhaps rewards for playing it would be cosmetic or new modules/monster unlocks And players who successfully raid dungeons would get access to better starting kits or perks

i’d personally love an overgrown forest kind of map. like greenpath in hollow knight where monsters are amalgamations of different nature aspects. and a boss that’s like a spirit elemental or a forest deity in the form of scp-2845 wielding a bow or something ranged. the concept art you showed from one of your previous videos perfectly encapsulates that thought

This is a minor addition to the game but I think being able to name a unique item you loot from the raid or naming a legendary crafted item would be really cool! It could even have your name on the item when you give it a special name. For example you loot a Viola from the boss, you extract, then you go to a vendor for gold who can forge a name onto the weapon so now instead of “Viola” you may read “‘Ferrec’s Sword’ by Ferrec”or “‘Wizard Destroyer’ by RogueEnjoyer”. Even if people give weapons or other times silly names it would be a nice added touch that creates like a sort of connection to that specific unique.

Trying to figure out which named item effect a certain weapon has because theres no way to know what “‘ButtPlug’ by ClericMain” does is ridiculous for gameplay. Its a cool idea that doesnt fit in this game. Maybe you could put your name on items that you craft in the vendors.

@@brianestepa2376 I see what you mean by keeping the integrity of the item's keepsake and it of course would create custom names that would be silly/ridiculous, but I don't adhere to the idea that you couldn't find what an item does because of its name being different. If you see an item with the color of a unique and it's any of the weapons that has a unique version you would immediately know it's a unique item. Even the image of the item itself is different and you'd know it was a named item (although I think some named items need to be differentiated more than just a legendary version of the item). Also the description of what the named item would do will still be there!

Add "fear" stat, its based on how dark it is around you as well as mobs that are aggroed onto you. A large problem with ruins is people running past and disregarding pve. So as fear builds on your character you become too "scared" to open doors or perhaps it takes too long to open doors that it's not worth. And as you clear the mobs aggroed on you fear goes back down allowing you to progress through dungeon at a "set" rate rather than speed run. Fear would be a stacking debuff getting worse than more you have on you/team. This would reward players that bring in gear as they would clear pve faster and traverse faster, and it would punish nakeds as they would be spawn locked for longer, disallowing them to grief geared players as easily. (Naked smoke pot double jump rogue)

I would like to see a sphinx type sub-boss in the desert temple. They could possibly reuse some of the centaur animations for it, but make it more of a spell casters, like maybe it conjures dust devils that slow, do damage over time or maybe even knock you up in the air. Just spitballin here

The one problem that arises with creating maps is balancing. Balancing the map itself out and for playable classes. Making fixed exits as well as zone coverage on high elevation would provide crazy hard challenges to melee classes as well as create a stagnant meta. Just some thoughts, great ideas overall tho.

I think for me, the alternate bard abilities are pretty disappointing and double spell wheel being the only way to play the class is pretty limiting. Playing Baldur's Gate 3 and seeing how bard functions in that game, some kind of ability where, on a ~1 second cast time, you send out a trail of music notes to compel the target to put their weapon away and force them to dance would be very in line with the class. It wouldn't slow their movement, rather it would just force them to put their weapons away for a short amount of time before drawing them out again. I'm not one to give ideas on what would be balanced, but it feels like bard thematically is a bit lacking and this would be a cool way to give some options other than double spell wheel.

Ranger balance idea: Replace cape with quiver slot for ranger, and can only hold arrows in a quiver. One quiver loaded with arrows at a time, and have to reload quiver while seated when it empties. In combat, have a max number of arrows loaded in quiver, and that increases with rarity. Allows players who are able to dodge large numbers of arrows to actually close distance when ranger has to fall back to reload quiver

Barbarian should have an ability that lets them throw their main weapons, just straight up toss a double axe at the enemy. An extension of this could be a tavern brawler ability that increases unarmed damage and lets you throw barrels and crates. This way people stop resorting the throwing axe meta. Unlike throwing axes, the throw has a cooldown, so I see it being a bit more balanced.

all these ideas are cool but a proper idea is COLLABING the game needs to become mainstream to have a healthy playerbase and organic - one ways to do that is collabing with big franchises one of these collabs can be with castlevania that includes the idea of a gothic castle or prince of persia for desert theme map - as for a unique map idea would be a pirate ship blackbears pirate ship someting gigantic first layer is the port timer ends the ship will leave - second layer is inside of the ship - third layer is a boss stage for blackbeard or a ghost king on the deck of the ship

I think we need temporary fun game modes. Example: everyone is naked barbarian with inventory full of Francisca axes and no PVE, or everyone's bards with drums only. Or guild v guild war, Ruins, two large teams with multiple three man squads within (Think WOW raid HUD with other squads health being shown but much smaller than your squad). The options are limitless with fun little temporary game modes. And from a developers standpoint, one could gather some data from specific game modes crafted to gather data.

I really wish they would change how they balance range attacks. They keep moving the damage up and down but I don’t think there’s ever going to be a point that feels good for all players. Instead I’d rather keep the damage high and put the rate of fire wayyyyy down. I’d also get rid of any abilities that let you sling off projectiles in rapid succession and nerf the scaling of dex/kno on attack speed for ranger attacks. This would make each arrow or fireball super impactful, and leave much wider openings for melee classes to move. I say this as a ranger main, I think the game is waaay more fun when everyone is fighting in melee and there’s the occasional threat of a big fireball or a few arrows, rather then what we have now which is a meta filled with kiting, running down, and ranged fights galore. You could also give some of the ranged focus classes a few more tricks in melee if needed, but honestly half decent melee builds exist for those classes as is.

I have always thought clerics should have a fast gradual heal effect with their heals like a faster heal pot rather than an insta heal, and maybe buff their speed a bit or give them a better ranged attack like frans. Just feel like they need to try some new things with cleric cause the class is not fun to play and not fun to play against unless it’s a solo cleric, which is where I feel something like frans and/or more speed would really help.

No, the debuff duration that you find in your character stats is just for debuffs applied to you. To increase rogue poison damage you would need to increase Magic Power Bonus or have flat (+true/+add) magical damage

yea there is plenty of things to complain about but this game has come a long ways i remember when capes were really rare if you had one it meant run for your life if you stand up with recoverable health you would loss it all also

Open maps are not the move in a game that is meant to be more melee focused. When you make the maps open it makes it much harder to gap close and it just further promotes a range meta. We are trying to move away from this. Honestly ruins as it is needs to be removed and redone. Make it s an actual ruined castle that you explore with a layout similar to how crypts is. Also the drop rate of high level gear is too high and access to epic and legendary is too frequent, crafts just make this worse as it is. I'm all for more crafting however, we shouldn't be allowed to craft epic quality or higher.

So DnD takes a LOT from D&D and while a lot of these Ideas are mechanically great they are not all very D&D like. Things like wolf teeth for weapons and chitin for armor is more Elder Scrolls thing. IMHO D&D does not use monster parts for weapons and armor very often the exception being dragon scale because it is resistant to breath weapons for dragons of the same color. Still most heroes prefer armor to be made from metal and leather. D&D has many magical types of metal coldiron, glass steel, mythril, adamantine. Now animal parts ARE commonly used as spell reagents so a ton of ideas and quests could come from that but D&D was smart about makeing common less powerful spells/items needing components that a easier to find while powerful ones could be quite a choir. Like your wolfsbane needs to be caught in a bronze bowl after midnight during a full moon and it can not be cut or plucked it has to fall from the tree on its own or its garbage. The tropical map could take ideas from the Sword Coast and Waterdeep personally I'm burnt out on pirates but shipwrecks and Lovecraftian tentacle monsters count me in! what's a D&D inspired game without Illithids anyway? and the Vampire stuff sounds a lot like Ravenloft I wonder what Strahd's been up to. I really want to see more spells from 1st or 2nd edition make it to the game, Flaming orbs, Colorful spray, Flame wave, Levitation, Shocking grasp, Mirror Image, I know not all of them can be balanced in a way thats fun to play and play against but I really want to play a D&D style Necromancer floating above a small army of skeletal warriors then cast cause darkness and sense life. Controlling skeletons sounds so fun even if they get a huge debuff when we get control of them make them die with one hit and slower then normal I just want to be the cause of a room of skeletons to fight each other once and a while. Chronomancer would probably be too broken. The version of Bard that he have currently is more like a hybrid/multiclass of ranger/fighter/caster probably because a standard bard would not work at all solo. So how about Paladin, half fighter, half cleric prefers swords and full plate, limited healing and strong against undead, and since every class needs a counter class we need Necro and Paladin together.
