Law is a great career in the future and considering it is something you want to pursue you are clearly passionate about it, and that’s great! Biology is also a great A-Level in general, however the usefulness of it depends on what you want to pursue in the future. The knowledge gained in biology is not generally relevant to law. It is all about understanding systems and utilising logic, which is helpful skill when it comes to law, however universities of course tend to look for essay-based subjects for law and the other subjects you do alongside biology are a perfect combination for pursing law in the future. Biology does highlight the skills you have. Being able to learn and comprehend a large amount of content and analyse it in a complex manner are also great traits. However, you also did get outstanding grades for your GCSE’s and are on the top percentile of students, which may already show that you’re capable of learning content with ease. Since it is such a content-heavy subject, it will interfere with the other subjects you do. If it is not giving you time to study and work for your other subjects, I definitely would recommend dropping the subject. Alongside dropping it you will gain the free periods, which you can use to work on your other subjects and gain a little amount of rest (sixth form is a killer). Universities will definitely look at your other subjects since you want to do law, and hence focusing on those to ensure you gain the results you want in 2 years time is what I would recommend. From personal experience, I have a love for both computer science and history. I want to pursue computer science in the future, and although I enjoy history to an incredible extent I did not take it since I knew it wouldn’t be helpful. Just make sure whilst focusing on your studies, you’re focusing on your health, mentally and physically! All in all I am completely confident in you getting into Cambridge for law and you got this!

I like you and all bro but you're forcing it at this point, this is college and it's much harder than you think. Biology is so much content, I don't think you realise how hard it's actually gonna be. As I said, I dropped it after a whole year of it. If you wanna do law at uni and Biology takes so much time then you should 100% drop it no doubt. It's very not worth it. As you also said, you go home and just do biology, which again won't help you do law. I'll say it again, this is college and the jump is huge and from this video taking Biology is not worth it by any means.

Biology is a subject that is really enjoyable and can becomes a passion. Honestly tho if you want my real opinion here it is: If it’s got absolutely nothing for your future and it won’t really benefit you there’s really no point, your drawing yourself in irrelevant stress. Why put yourself in that position? A level is already a bunch of stress and dropping it would reduce your stress which is really important. You will have sooo much more free time. You could be doing other things that you also really like. I’d say drop it, it’s for the best.
@sulm93703 жыл бұрын
Drop it, For so much work you’d want it to be more beneficial to your courses. Further biology is also very practical based and if you don’t enjoy that then what’s the point? Quality should always come before quantity. A G8 gives you an amazing chance at doing well in a subject a level and to even question that is so wrong. If you’re enjoying English keep at it! Maybe try and speak to your teachers and ask about dropping epq/Italian? Epq is slightly more useful but you’re already doing a language. I kinda have the same problem too, doing languages and essay subject with a random biology lesson lmao

I mean an alternative is moving to a school where you don't have to do epq or Italian. But since you are doing an essay based subject for uni epq would help you alot especiallyin interviews. considering you’re taking english and linguistics / languages, these work very well together in terms of university course choices and future jobs. the biology is the odd one out, considering you’ve said you want to go into law, i would put your most effort into the english, latin and french, the other thing you need to think of, these biology lessons and study time is taking up valuable time from your other subjects, at the end of the day, A*A*A is better than an A*ABB bc if you cannot give the time to your other subjects, and instead is using it in biology, your grades across the board will most likely suffer, i personally if i was you with the intention of going into law, would drop the bio, and put the effort into the other subjects. for me personally i’m taking bio, chem, physics, maths, further maths with the intent of going into medicine so it hurts me as a bio nerd to say drop it haha but there’s no point keeping with it if it’s going to be detrimental to your other grades, hope this helps, at the end of the day you know best, jsut don’t overload yourself 4 a levels with an epq is a lott aswell as the italian, even 3 a levels epq and a new langauge is ambitious so the best of luck towards you

I've been trying to organise my time as well as possible and it has been working, so if you're struggling to decide, ask yourself if you are organising your time the most efficiently to get the work done as well as other things, and if you think you are, I don't think you should be sticking with biology, plus I don't think it is too important for law anyway. So, less than a week into Yr13 I dropped it and picked up English Literature. It was a great decision. Did I double guess my self hundreds of times before making the decision? Yes. Did it cause a surge of anxiety? Yes. But I am better now for it? Yes. I wasn't willing to gamble my place at uni on biology. As well as that, I was an English Language student. Coursework is going to be a kicker at the back end of Yr12. Both sets kick in, and you've gotta be ready. You won't have the time, and you're likely to have completely burnt out by that point. ++ your GCSE grades mean nothing now. Forget abt them. They say the jump up at Alevel is either. Nuh-uh.
