Thanks for the updated review Andrew. I have a Gen 10 and I was interested in the battery life difference, thanks for covering that.

Nice PC. Camera is good. Keyboard is good. Like the dark keys for good contrast with backlight. Only other negative you did not point out is there is no sd card slot. This still is a minor detail. Display looks very good. Appears to be a good value with the discounts offered. Great review.

I have a Thinkpad X1 Carbon that is at least 3 generations prior. It still works great, good for browsing, email, word processing, etc. I had the Slim pro 9i but just couldn't live with the battery life. When Apple announced the New MacBook line I decided to trade in my M1 on the MacBook M3 Pro in black. I love it I can use it all day and never have to worry about it dying or slowing down. I have never been an Apple fanboy but I have to admit that Apple has done it right. Thanks for the review Andrew, it's appreciated.

Hello, for build quality and reliability would you recommend a lenovo X1/P series or the HP Zbooks ?

I think with a starting price of $1198.45, a 400 nits 2.8K display, 1080p webcam with auto framing and blur effects features, the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 11 is a neat business laptop that will satisfy the needs of the business community as well as the casual user. This laptop will give you a lot of bang for your buck for sure! Great review as always Andrew!! 👍😁

I have the last gen, X1 Carbon Gen 10, which I love. I will probably upgrade to the Gen 12 or 13 depending on real world battery life of the 14th gen and newer Intel chips. I would highly recommend repasting these with decent thermal grease, liquid metal, or PTM7950. The stock paste is trash. You will get better sustained performance out of them, and they will run cooler. I personally switched to PTM7950.

It is a tough battle between the X1 Carbon gen 11 and the HP Dragonfly G4 for best traveling business laptop. That Intel 13th gen U series CPU give good battery life and excellent single-core performance for both laptops. - HP Dragonfly G4 has the style, display resolution, weight (less than 2.2lbs), and web camera advantage. Getting access to the SSD isn't easy because it needs a special size screwdriver. - The X1 Carbon gen 11 has the brightness, easy access to SSD, and sound system advantage. Dolby Atmos sound refinement system is noticeably better than HP audio for Edge.

One day, about ten years ago, my laptop Thinkpad X220 refused to boot the operating system from the mSATA SSD. At that moment, I was in a hotel in a small city in the far north, and I urgently needed this laptop to perform urgent tasks. In this situation, I simply booted a second operating system that was pre-installed on the second hard drive. Since then, I have believed that a laptop has no right to be called a “business laptop” if it does not have a second drive on which to install a second system. I have the same opinion regarding laptops without a flashlight (the X220 laptop had a flashlight «ThinkLight»), regarding laptops without a trackpoint, and, more recently, laptops without customizable backlighting for each key, and laptops with matrices subject to PWM flicker. And unfortunately, not a single modern laptop fits these requirements. I hope that Lenovo will someday release something that meets all these conditions, or ASUS will overtake them if they add a trackpoint to the ASUS ExpertBook B5 Flip, or ASUS will overtake them if they add a trackpoint to the ASUS ExpertBook B5 Flip IPS.
@intellectbuilder
@intellectbuilder 7 ай бұрын
In my practice, this was an isolated case, and it was not caused by the operating system. I have no complaints about Windows other than their new Start Menu. I described in my post one example of why having a second drive is important. But people's lives depend on the reliability of some laptops, and for this reason, increased fault tolerance is required from these devices. For many businessmen, it is important that the failure of the ssd during an important business meeting cannot cause its interruption, or cause the loss of at least one minute of work records. Therefore, it is important that information is continuously duplicated onto a second disk for backup. But many modern laptops do not have a second drive, and for some reason manufacturers position them as business laptops.

What about the touchpad? Is it a good one? Is it the same that is used in T14/T14s models? There are quite a few complaints about the "cheap" feeling of the T14(s) touchpads, especially the clicking...
@s.omarnoor1380
@s.omarnoor1380 4 ай бұрын
The touchpad is a glass one which is different from the t14/t14s that you mentioned. It feels good, has a nice texture to it, and the clicking is silent and nice feeling. Almost like a macbook touchpad. However, like the rest of the laptop, it shows fingerprints easier that I'd like so i put a skin on the laptop and touchpad (which doesn't feel as good but protects the laptop underneath)

I love the X1 Carbon and Thinkpads in general, but when will they get rid of the disgusting rubber coating on the chassis? It's baffling that they even keep using it. It's not just a fingerprint magnet, eventually, it becomes dull and discolored in spots and looks just plain nasty.

I find the highest (i7 with 1280p) X1 Carbon get pretty hot on the buttom-left side, its also not powerful enough and the viewing angle for the 1080p screen pretty bad, is there another Lenovo that is a little bit more powerful with matted higher-res screen that is just a little heavier than the X1 that you recommend? It's the premium materials that drive the cost up. I've been a Thinkpad user since the early 2000s but never had owned an X1 Carbon, one think I dislike is reparaibility, for example to replace the keyboard the process is more elaborated compared to the bigger counterparts.

I felt the same way but I am pleasantly surprised by the 2800 X 1800 Screen. Typically I like the 4K version and have a 4K 10th gen. I wanted the 5G WWAN so I upgraded. I now think that this screen resolution and the Legion 9 resoultion of 3200 X 2000 may be the perfect balance between the 4K and QHD+ screens.
@nfavor
@nfavor 7 ай бұрын
@@JASCancerDoc If I had to buy again the Slim Pro 9i might be what I'd get. It's small and light and it has close to the resolution. The Legion 9 is 16" and after having the Carbon so long, I'm having trouble liking the Zephyrus M14 as 144p and it's a bit heavier but man it smokes the Carbon.
