2+ Tough I’d say has one very important contribution to the AoS community: He was there when there was very few to truly appreciate the potential of the setting in those early days. Like a lonely gardener tending to an under-appreciated and barely living seedling, hoping it would one day bear fruit. His style and presentation radiated both a sense of patience and enthusiasm that I hadn’t really encountered in a lore channel, knowing the setting’s limitations but still giving it a chance. Without his videos, I probably wouldn’t have been interested at all.

@nate7422 жыл бұрын
Indeed. It’s important for newcomers to realize that each grand alliance isn’t a cohesive or unified front, but rather loose coalitions that occasionally work together. Order might seem like obvious good guys, but each faction often butts heads with supposed Allies over fundamental disagreements. Chaos is always fighting amongst themselves as the Dark Gods play their Great Game. Destruction has constant battles of supremacy of who’s the biggest and baddest. Death might seem the most cohesive, where all answer to the will of Nagash, but even they are fractured by their differences

Some Good places to start on AOS lore are obviously the Core Rulebook 3rd and the Soulbound RPG or online AOS lexicanum. My favorite novels I think are great starting places include: Spear of Shadows: Great entry point into the world (my first novel :) City of Secrets: First Witch hunter story of the setting. Its sequal is "The Silver Shard" Gloomspite: You'll never laugh at a Grot ever again, or you might but you'll definitely respect them more Soulwars: Ground level at the beginning of the Soul Wars Nagash the Undying King: Backstory on chaos conquering the underworlds, fun. Plague Garden and its Sequal Black Pyramid: Will likely make you like Stormcast. Covens of Blood: Anthology book on Daughters of Khaine, some very good stuff in there. Court of the Blind King: Idoneth Deepkin novel, basically a political thriller. And shows off Deepkin, there kinda like Dark Eldar, but not as big of assholes. There are tons more novels these are just my personal favourites so far. p.s. Yeah Majorkill I think you would kill it with AOS lore videos, I feel the setting has expanded enough to warrant regular videos. And as for 2+tough I wouldn't consider him dead yet, but I do agree his format is growing a little stale, other lore videos ( like HeyWoah for instance) can definitely make AOS lore videos with better success shows that just repeating basic information like out of a Textbook isn't really needed as much with so many more options on AOS lore now. However I still think 2+Tough can turn it around eventually but I think a change up to video style is needed.

Contrast this to Age of Sigmar, where the following happens: its posterboy faction actually loses as much as it wins (40K Space Marines win all the time by default unless they're with Chaos), the other factions besides Chaos DO SOMETHING beyond being stuck as glorified punching bags, the gods opposed to Chaos in this setting actually DO SOMETHING beyond being either a shattered mess whose avatars get killed all the time or a test subject for Nurgle's latest plague or an oversized clown OR the operator of the setting's largest lighthouse, need I say more?

I would enjoy more AoS content from your channel. I'm hard on for 40k but have always been AoS curious. I've also noticed the gradual improvement in the setting/characters/stories. I can't wait until the cities of Sigmar faction gets their upgrade as getting the mere mortal p.o.v of the mortal realms is most interesting. Hoping they keep the medieval German vibe of fantasy Empire. Also seraphon interest me but the saurus models need a redo; the art of the saurus get my blood pumping as they are depicted as giant muscular and monstrous but the models are wimpy noodle armed bores.

I live the AoS models, the lore is as you said, foundational... I think it's got good potential for stories if they just fleshed the world a little more... I just like how there's seemingly less unity between the order factions in this setting, as they rip eachother apart as Chaos actually feels more powerful than in 40k... but thats all opinion😅

For me, the age of sigmar game is super fun I just don't really like the setting because it feels like there's no space for actual people to live there. Like I can't really imagine the story of a random person in age of sigmar compared to warhammer fantasy or 40k. It feels, more than the other GW settings, like it's just a big excuse for a tabletop game as opposed to a world I'm interested in seeing the stories of
@zerglingtickler3692 Жыл бұрын
@@thel33tpenguinftw40 yeah, I get that, I think GW ought to put some work in world building, which they've begun to go about slowly with the introduction of the Kruleboys. Age of Sigmar gave me more Be'Lakor, therefore it has improved infinitely. The new lore for Chaos and the Varanguard beginning to question Archaon after his meltdown is cool. @@adrienwatson2179 when you compare a game that's only been around for half a decade to two sibling/predecessors that have been around longer than a good chunk of their fans have been alive, the lore feeling watered down is inevitable. Give it time, they've cast a wide net for narrative representation and now just need time for it to sink deep. Most AOS factions have or are close to having as many novels as some of 40ks underrepresented xenos, which is wild to think about but does show a commitment to wanting to flesh out the world relatively evenly instead of going hard on the poster boys like they did on release.

I’ve gone through a lot of fantasy lore and have gone through some book. For me, the lore is just a history book with changed names and magic. The books have been standard fantasy with a grating drone of grimderp. For my perspective, the love of fantasy is almost totally nostalgia for something they thought they had but was actually something a lot poorer in quality.

Warhammer Age of Sigmar lore is excellent. This is exactly what the old fantasy was supposed to be: what is really important - the Winds of Magic and nature of Chaos, and how it affects people and other creatures, is brought to the fore. In the old fantasy world, this was very secondary, and absolutely lost behind the pseudo-historical anecdotes from which the lore of the Empire, Bretonnia, and so on was built. Proving this is very simple: most of the old fantasy adepts don't remember/don't know the names of the Winds of Magic. Whereas for Age of Sigmar these are facts of paramount importance, literally the names of the Mortal Realms borned by the Winds of Magic

I personally love Age of Sigmar. Its frankly got better and more interesting lore than 40K these days. I feel that the reboot has done the setting so much good, as GW can focus on better story telling. for example, because there is so much lore for 40K these days, storylines get put forward and then totally forgotten about. Ynnari and Aeldari anyone? Sure, was the start to AOS terrible? definitely, however since 2nd ed its had the time to breathe and actually establish the setting going forward. And I think this is only going to get better with the introduction of Malarion and other factions. For me at lleast, 40K has become stagnent and the Imperium never really seem to take any massive hits, they only seem to be bable to come back with more powerful retalitory moves that improves their "power" Primaris for example. in conlclusion I would say you should definitely read as much lore of AOS as you can, good sources include the Soulbound RPG from Cubicle 7. i'd love it if you could post more of it on the channal. :)
