I'd suggest lowering your expectations for your next analysis because your one on 'Limelight' is stellar and would be difficult to equal! About your music sociology idea and acoustic observation: Perhaps that era change mirrored the Dylan at Newport portion of music history. Could acoustic jam bands be more of a shift towards the spirit of folk music instead of prog, or both? ...and for your next analysis, since you mention the Talking Heads, my fave of theirs is 'Naive Melody - This Must Be the Place', FWIW; but I suspect 'Burning Down the House' will draw more viewers. Another tune that's 'grabbed' me as much as 'Limelight' has been Zeppelin's 'Ramble On'. If your interest extends back to that era, its arrangement of essentially 5 parts, each one stellar in its own right, is melded together as perfectly as any arrangement I can think of going back to Bach. It's worth a (re)listen.

Naive Melody & Ramble On are both amazing tunes with fascinating origin stories, thanks for the great suggestions! That's an interesting point about jam bands, too; will mull it over.
