Of that final three, Owen would be a bad winner, Gabler was slightly better and honestly only Cassidy could be considered somewhat good, unless the edit absolutely butchered her so we won't get too upset (oh boy, imagine how many Stans she would have if she got a lot more screen time, turned out to actually be great and WON! It'd be like Michele 2.0 except surviving many more votes and actually playing well!)

Man I really wanna see Cody back for another season. He was just such an interesting person to watch. I think I kind of wrote him of as not a very good player at first, because of his dude-bro personality, but he showed time and again that he was actually a pretty good player. It was refreshing to see someone like him not fall into the mold of being likeable, but not a great player.

I think you should award yourself a full point for Elie. Like yes, it was her failure to perceive Gabler as a threat to her game as a problem, but I feel that has to do with her threat level just as much. She had the opportunity to get herself idoled to safety and the rest of the game followed suit targeting her recognizing how much of a threat she was, and she did go pre-merge.

Nah, but I think he put too much emphasis on her social game. Even just on Baka, she only really has Jeanine with her. Gabler hated her guts and Sami and Owen were on the fence about her.

This season was basically the deformed love child of Gabon and HHH, with a final tribal that reversed the roles of Samoa where Natalie looked like the favorite but the jury voted for Mick (and Russell went at final four)

I predicted Gabler’s win solely based on that last shot of him in the preview where his face was covered in mud. Idk why but it looked so BA, like straight out of a scene from a war movie… although I was hoping I was wrong because I wanted Jesse to win… production made this one way too predictable, still a great season though!

I thought Owen Knight looked a lot like Woo Hwang, and just from looks, I predicted that he would make it to the Final Tribal Council but finish in 3rd place with the least number of votes just like Woo did in Cagayan, and I was correct!

I hope we get a season soon of first and second boots lumped all together. That or 2nd and 3rd place people back on the show. I think it would be interesting to see how they fare against one another, sort of like the Winners at War season. Maybe even bring the fire tokens back?

i was way off. this was also the first season where the previews actually showed a lot of the top players. i thought whoever they showed were like late pre merge/ early merge boots. i totally misjudged gabler. i thought he would be an overplayer, like daniel from 42. i thought cass would be an overconfident person with no social skills who would be booted early. i thought owen might be another overplayer strategy wise. i thought jesse would be a finalist. i thought elie would win, and thought jeanine would be a scrappy underdog finalist. i thought cody was the challenge beast to go early post-merge

I was jokingly saying it from the merge onward. It wasn't until the Cody boot my mind said it's not a joke anymore. Something about that made me think as long as Jesse doesn't make it to the end he's winning and we saw time and time again Jesse couldn't win a challenge. So it just became a matter of not pulling a Mike and blowing it at Final Tribal.

I got 3.5/18 right on my list I got Nneka coming 16th, Geo 14th, Ryan 10th (he got 9th but it was a double elimination episode) and Noelle 8th and was pretty close with Jesse (I thought he'd get 5th) This may sound impressive until you realize that everything else was way off.

I think this is because producers actually loved Cassidy, otherwise she would get the joke edit like Angelina or Noura. I hope she returns to season 45/46/50/whatever to receive the Parvati/Lacina award and go from unassuming to LEGEND! While putting more blanks in people's guns 🙂

Jeanine being the winner pick is actually kind of hilarious. In her picture she looks like she's already been on the island for a month. Even with a potential to be solid social player, she'd have zero chances to win any challenge, if needed, and would need to bank on finding and using advantages correctly. Sadly that went south so maybe she would've went farther if she maintained her idol. She also seemed too nice to orchestrate a big move and would've just been one of the pawns for the real winner. Other than that I feel like all your other choices for Pre Season were accurate.

If Jesse did not betray Cody, one of them would have won the game. It felt so sweet when Gabler beat Jesse in fire, as he created his own downfall. Also, the look on Cassidys face when she lost was priceless, she thought she had it in the bag. Best season in recent years, good challenges, no bitter jury, nobody crying racism.

I think editing needs some work. Based on his final speech it seems there was a lot we didn’t see, but I think he was the most deserving of the final 3

We did see why he won and his alliance with Cody. But it should have been more obvious since that alliance was way bigger. I also don't like the bitter jury argument since first, it's not true, and second...kind of the fault on the player they are bitter to. Like the game is to get people to like you and pick you, so if you fail...unless it is based on like gender/ethnicity, it's on you. Like the only time I hate a jury and feel they were bitter was Fiji, solely on how they treated the final 3 and was very much judging them...not from their gameplay.

Part of the game is voting out people in a way so that they still vote for you in the end. Gabler clearly had a better social game and 100% deserved his win.

Cassidy didn't oversell her game at FTC. I'm sick of this narrative, I've watched it twice, and she was pretty spot on with everything she said except for the single, obviously inaccurate, read on the Ryan boot

Yes, but she claimed that was her biggest move, when it wasn't even hers.

@dio696 she did, I acknowledged that was a bad answer. She followed that up by bringing up the Noelle vote, which she did play a big role in, but that answer didn't make the edit.

As somebody who has taken multiple public speaking classes, it is my opinion that she could have gotten a few more votes if she had just slowed down her answers and taken the time to bond with the jury like Gabler and Owen did. As it stands, she came off as incredibly nervous and desperate, to the point that I think that Owen, with a significantly worse game, still managed to make a more compelling argument.

She def lied and embellished her game a little, which normally isn’t an issue, but she also said to the jury before fire making “I did enough to win already”. So she REALLY had to explain herself after making claims like that, which she couldn’t. The reality is she was too focused on herself and didn’t pay attention to how other perceived her. The entitled attitude was the last thing she needed to show. She should of been humble and honest.
