Maya and Nandy McClean are singing all over this record. In fact, Shelby, Marva and Bria are not performing at all on "The One U Wanna C" or "Lion of Judah" - just The Twinz on those 2.

Somewhere Here On Earth 💜
@michaelmoraga29262 ай бұрын
As a life-long fan since '82, I think Planet Earth has some of the best songs from my favorite phase of late period Prince (2006-2011). 💜 Like most "non-cohesive" Prince albums, it has grown on me immensely over the years. ❤🔥 That said, the running order has never worked for me.

I have always said that P.E. was one of my favorite Prince albums but to be honest, I had forgotten what songs were even on the album. Of course Planet Earth, but I forgot Chelsea Rogers and Guitar are on it. I also kept thinking that Te Amo Corazon was part of this. Maybe it's the style of music featured. Not sure. Standouts for me: Future Baby Momma, Planet Earth, Lion of Judah (♡♡♡) and Somewhere Here in Earth. Another great review and I STILL don't know how this guy KNOWS all this stuff! I mean, he dives DEEEEEP! Lastly, does ANYONE know of a long and/or LIVE version of Three Chains of Gold? Help a brother out! 😅

Lots of good songs on here, but this album always felt like a compilation & not a body of work. I totally agree with U about the track Planet Earth....way 2 epic 2 open. It does remind me of the 1st show @ The O2 Arena though where he opened with Purple Rain.

Hello!!! Why didn’t you mention FUTURE BABY MAMA won a freaking grammy for Best R&B Male vocal. Music industry thang notable especially for Prince at this stage in his career

I recorded it, but it got lost in the editing. My bad 😞

@Purplenerdchannel yea bro you should do another video amd mention that very important part if his history especially since this was the last time he won a grammy!!

It's not something you would blast in your car, but I do really like that song. Very catchy and melodic.

I like every song except Chelsea Rodgers. Its corny

I just relistened to the entire catalogue and this is probably his weakest release imo. Does shame to his oeuvre
@charliemoon62093 ай бұрын
Definitely not his weakest release you just didn't like it...if it was weak it wouldn't have won a grammy...which was the last grammy he won! That says it was far from weak!

@@charliemoon6209 the Grammies don’t prove much. Future Baby Mama is ok but not one of his best songs and the album has so much dross and overall just doesn’t work. I even enjoyed listening to NPS more.

This has always been my least favorite Prince album. Outside of Guitar and Chelsea Rogers, this album just never did it for me.
@beachlife83673 ай бұрын
@@wesleystewart2709 I was never a big fan of Guitar. It's something about the flow of the lyrics or something. Now, I did hear a version that was slightly different (shorter, longer, can't remember) that I actually thought was pretty good. But it wasn't the version from the album. On a side note related to this: I heard a version of Thieves in the Temple that was like a true, straight ahead R n B version that was so interesting and so good. The same thing for the song This Could Be Us. There are so many versions of songs that there is bound to be one I might like.
@wesleystewart27093 ай бұрын
@beachlife8367 I've heard that version of Thieves in the Temple before, and yes it is good. I always got excited with the release of a new Prince album, and Planet Earth was no different. But once I got it, and listened to it. I didn't revisit often. Every now and then, I would pull it out to see if my opinion would change? But it never did. Granted, it was nice to see Wendy and Lisa on this album

You crazy!!! "Somewhere Here On Earth" by itself makes this album a classic.....future baby daddy......come on man you kidding right....classic album
@wesleystewart27093 ай бұрын
@charliemoon6209 sorry to disappoint, but yeah, not my favorite. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the album is bad, just not my favorite

I stopped treating Prince albums as cohesive complete concepts and now treat them like a box of chocolates. Just assorted gems from here and there, some better than others. But overall, it's 1000% better than what other artists put out there. I like all of the songs on Planet Earth, but my least favorites, musically, are The One U Wanna C and Lion of Judah. And, apparently, artists only get paid for 12 songs on each album, so that's why a lot of albums seem so short nowadays.
