41:28 when I saw Rogue one in theaters and I saw Vader walk out i was trying to keep my inner 5 year old from coming out. Because at the time it was 11 years since we saw the El Jefe on the big Screen. I was so happy at the time. It felt like I was watching a new hope again. And his hallway scene was so badass . I def agree 15 min would have added a lot to the characters in the movie. I think people hold it in a higher tier due to it coming out around the same time as the sequels and being the better movie out of that recent lot. It’s embedded into people minds how bad the last Jedi and rise is that it puts greater praise on rogue one.

Brilliant episode lads, really loved listening to you guys break this down after the rewatch. I now want to rewatch it again 😅 I half expected K2 to have uploaded a copy of himself in to the first torture droid he took out incase he was destroyed. After watching this I really want you to do a rewatch of Solo (then you can do a Visions rewatch)!

I agree that Rogue one story is jumbled, and not as cohesive as one might hope for. But I believe I like it so much because it really captures the aesthetic of the original trilogy through design and Michael Giacchino score. It feels the most Star Wars in setting and ambiance. Rogue One walked, so Mandalorian could run in season 1 and 2.

I don’t think that’s true. Freddie Prince Jr said that as an offhand comment during an interview, but no evidence points to that being the case. Filoni MAYBE had input the day they filmed, but no way he directed. He hadn’t even directed an episode of Mando by that point, which he said was a big moment for him.

When you first watched this movie in theaters, at what point did you realize that all the characters were going to die? Because I distinctly remember, about halfway through, thinking that all these characters were way too influential to the rebellion. And the only way to explain that they weren’t in A New Hope was if they were dead.

It’s no masterpiece but it’s a great Star Wars movie, I love it. It was refreshing and new to see something that wasn’t about Jedi. It is clunky in the first act, where my issues are with it, the pacing and cuts. I think we needed a little bit more of Jinn in the prison if anything. I have been putting off rewatching though because I’m waiting for Andor 2 to finish then watch it all.

That’s a great question. I’m not sure I have the answer to it. I think the frequency in which we’re getting content is certainly affecting the “specialness” of the franchise. It was an EVENT when new Star Wars came out. It was even an event when Mando S1 came out. But now, we get something new every couple months so that feeling is diluted. On the other hand, I’m enjoying a lot of what we’re getting so it’s difficult for me to say.
