content creation can only work when the base game and core mechanics behind it are fun. That is just not the case for starfield. It also isnt fair to compare this to Skyrim, they may have technically been the same studio but it was not the same developers. The bethesda we have now is a shell of its former self and this game is evidence of that.
@skyriminspace
@skyriminspace 7 күн бұрын
@@magicalfungi3206 whether or not a game is fun, whether or not a piece of entertainment is good, is subjective. Todd Howard, emil pagliarulo, Tim lamb, istvan pely, will shen.... these are bethesda devs in the most prominent positions (shen has now left) & who worked on games like morrowind, skyrim, fo3, fo4.... & Starfield. They started a brand new IP & (wisely in my view) altered the formula a bit to set it apart.

@@skyriminspace hey, if you enjoy a shallow game of fetch quests and loading screens then by all means... subject yourself to it. Im certainly not the only one who thinks its garbage game design, theres a reason the IP has done so poorly. a few old dogs doesnt change that the studio isnt what it once was, isnt capable of catching that fire again. Theyve lost touch and have had no luck getting it back. finally, they didnt set the game apart at all with their formulaic bullshit. they in fact cut pieces out of that formula, making a dull and outdated game design even more shallow. if you like it, you are welcome to... but i stand by my statement.

@magicalfungi3206 hey you are 100% entitled to your opinion! It's great that we don't all have to like the same things. All I object to is the seamless transition from personal opinion (cool) to rhetoric based on at best wonky "facts" (not so cool).

I was really enjoying it with the mods I have added, but I somehow screwed up my save by updating a mod and adding another one. I need to take a break from it and play some Cyberpunk. I will a start a new save and mod order if something major comes out for Starfield. No more messing with mods on a current save. I will just play through and mod on a NG+

Probably the biggest addition/change (for me at least) since launch, was the addition of the modular difficulty settings menu. I've never played a game which allows the player such control over the rules of the game. I've set mine up very similar to fo4's survival difficulty.

Always great to hear a balanced take on this game. It has such massive potential, it's just a very long development cycle to see how well that potential is realised by bethesda through dlc. Subbed for more.
@liamoneil973
@liamoneil973 7 күн бұрын
except its not that long of a dev cycle for dlc. they have said that they plan on making yearly "expansions" for starfield. if anything i want/expect a fully fleshed out game for the 10 years in between AAA game releases, it should not need DLC to live up to its potential.
@skyriminspace
@skyriminspace 7 күн бұрын
@liamoneil973 there's a very enlightening talk by recently ex-bethesda developer will shen about how the company's structure & MO changed between developing skyrim & FO4, vs. developing Starfield. My educated guess is that bug fixing & adding missing features during starfield's first year took up a lot of time. 2nd dlc will either be much more extensive than shattered space, or arrive much sooner. I can imagine to some people it feels like a snail's pace, but for someone like me with a full time job & young children I can barely keep up. The 2nd dlc might get here before I even find time to play shattered space. 😂

I totally enjoyed this video. Not just another self proclaimed gamer "expert" talking trash about Starfield, but honestly pointing out it's good qualities. I've really enjoyed the game and have played it for hundreds of hours now. Sure, it's not a "5 course gourmet meal" prepared by a French chef, but it's at the very least a "big delicious Double Whopper with bacon and extra cheese." It's easy for me to go back for more.

Yes Creations are really helping making the game fleshed out. BUT.... I can see the direction of how this is going : Every piece of interesting content, or gameplay is going to be in the paid creation section; Bethesda is making so much money without having to do zero work , and we , the consumers are spending so fucking much for a single game. It's a gacha system without the randomized drop. I spent already 150 euro on creations that I felt were improving the gameplay ( im not buying anything that is "re skin") , there's paid creations that drop every fuckin week. in one year how much would it be possible to spend just to make the game better ????? When I see that I'm wondering if this was the plans for them all along. Just the base game with barely anything and then everything go through creations. That's probably the "EXPANSION" plan you were talking about. The Shattered Space dlc I'm pretty sure was cut content, cause there's no way it took them a year to do this, and a lot of people paid for it already at launch so they knew. Im sure they make way more money like this with creations without doing any work than if they released full gameplay DLCS. And I'm pretty sure this is what we can expect for up coming games like TES6. and that's a real shame.

Aside from of my own strong personal gripes with the game, that I beat up BGS over all the time. I have over 73 days worth of playtime. Starfield is my game. I play it like a sandbox and it works for me like that. Highly customizable for whatever kind of playthrough I want to do. Very talented mod authors on creations adding very cool stuff. Takes some patience, sure. But it’s a pretty dope game. Catch a smile out there. o7

I just played through the game for the first time. I didn't find anything to complain about until I become Starborn. The Starborn saga feels very lackluster. They need a huge expansions to flesh that one out.

The game itself still needs a lot of work, but from what I've heard from developers, there's only so much they can do with the way the game is built. With that said, folks that thought the game was boring to begin with will definitely get their moneys worth with the addition of creations.

the creations are dangerous in my opinion because i feel like it opens the door to devs locking the best content behind a pay wall after you have already payed $70 us or $90 aud for the game. it will lead to lazy development and bad/bland base games. for a consumer like me i want to get 50 to 60 hours of entertainment minimum for most full priced AAA game, RPG's especially! . for them to release single hour long quests for $6, or 4 hour long "expansions" for $40 aud just is not economically viable to me unless the base game is drastically cheaper then they tend to be.

No mans sky has little to no content at all in it and 15 basic small poi, the story is told in a similar fashion to launch fallout 76 which everyone hated and is a cop out to why there is no actual cities in no mans sky, nms is a 100 present worse in every way besides the fact you can land on a planet and take of again.
