Medieval Europe has been the center of so much entertainent throughout the ages, wether its a fairytale or the fantasy films and games. So many of these things take inspiration from medieval europe, so making a medieval game rpg was just the right move to make. Ah I dunno, I think the current culture in gaming very much so looks for more hardcore experiences. If anything the simulator-y nature of the game only holds it back in that it's rigidity clashes with the open world experience. Combined with the relative sparsity of quests and content, it didn't really have much business being an open world game. I'd hope the combat will have a bit more natural a feel, and obviously they just need to make sure there's actual stuff to do and places to explore, otherwise it really only appeals to history nerds. I mean that's fine and should be the priority, but the game is clearly open to criticism if the general game content isn't fleshed out.

@@nashbullet3213 think what you want, I am going by the fact that I scoured through polish websites to find out that most of the writers from Witcher 3 are still on team and nearly all writers from the DLC of Witcher 3 are as well so the writing will be good. Plus the games director was the director of cinematics and worked on story for blood and wine, and he is a huge fan of the Witcher seres as a whole. All of that points to it probably going to be just fine. Combine that with the fact that Phantom LIberty was one of the best dlc’s in recent memory and those so called tweets you’re referring to worry me jack shit zero. I’m sure he wasn’t antagonizing people asking questions and if so it was probably people asking stupid questions, or questions that are not easy to answer early in development. And as to the videos getting more dislikes? That’s more than likely from the moronic “woke police” who don’t like having to play as Ciri. The only “drama” is nonsensical shit like that. I go by facts about the writers and what I’ve seen from CDPR, which is all excellent except for the launch of cp2077 and lots of that was due to forced overtime and crunch which the studio have since restructured and cut out. Going by what I found about who is still on the dev team and the fact that the majority of cdpr’s history has been great the game will probably be just fine. I have been gaming since 1987, seen all eras of gaming. This new level of toxic negativity around every little thing these days gets old. Some of y’all never had to play a game that was just a dot bouncing from one side of the screen to the other and it shows.

@ You could follow your own advice and keep burying your head in the sand and pretend nothing is amiss. CDPR devs are leaving the studio en masse and forming newer studios with a classic example being Rebel Wolves with Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz as its director. Like I stated in an earlier comment to you, game sales will determine how well received a game is and any studio that followed the DEI crap has learned lessons the hard way..
@joshnizzleАй бұрын
@@nashbullet3213 See this is where you show you don’t know what you’re talking about, yes about 10 left to form the other studio, they aren’t leaving “en masse” that’s nonsense. Has nothing to do with “pretending nothing is amiss”, it’s called I genuinely researched it and didn’t just repeat what I saw some other doofus say online. Don’t try to tell me I know nothing kiddo, I spent loads of time digging through this horseshit to find out if there was any truth to it and from what I’ve found they’ve only lost about 10 to form that studio, and any others that have left where in minor roles. Basically ALL team leads from Witcher 3 are still on board. I would post you links if KZbin didn’t delete them every time. As i said before I have been gaming since 1987 and seen all eras of gaming, back when all we had was pong. Your comment comes across clearly as one of these “woke police” who thinks they know everything because their favorite KZbin neckbeard said the studio went woke, whereas I ACTUALLY did the research to see roughly how many had TRULY left and of those what roles they were in and what the facts are. Here’s some more facts for you about your fear of DEI, Larian studios head Sven has said in interviews that they try to incorporate that into their hiring process too and they made one of the best games of the last 10-15 years. Then if you add in the fact that CDPR just made phantom liberty which was one of the best dlc released in recent years and they made CP2077 into an amazing game as well, and your whole theory crumbles. I go by facts, not nonsense like “oh but they said they have DEI crap”. I go by what I researched and found out and the overall track record of the studio, facts. Not nonsense woke police bs

Support developer who cares about their games. Refuse companies who tries to introduce certain ideologies. That is how it has been working this year, the amount of Woke DEI crap they have put out has all failed big time, anything with SBI and the like involvement has pretty much died on arrival. Look at the Unknown 9, i think that is still unknown as it disappeared from trace as soon as it released and they were expecting a massive franchise from it with TV shows and movies. Problem for them is gamers are not interested in this crap at all, and this Modern Audience they make this crap for does not exist or if it does it is exceptionally small and does not play video games anyway. They produce all this for the ESG/DEI investment money and then they die, not a very good business model.

If it's framed as too preachy and out of context in a game I agree, but there are a lot of anti- woke people who are just legitimately bigots and use it as a vehicle to spread hate.

When I first played KCD when it first came out I remember saying “okay, lockpicking it out of the question” lol

lock picking is actually easy once you figure out whats making it fail. but the game doesn't explain how to do it, i had to watch a video. once i understood why i was failing (the left joystick unconsciously leaving the edges when turning), i never missed a lock pick. it's really just when you turn the left joystick, you don't realize it's leaving the edges, all you have to do is focus and make sure it doesn't and it works just fine. One way you can see what i mean is go to the map and twirl the left joystick, you'll notice that you aren't creating a perfect circle with the cursor unless you make sure it doesn't leave the edges. that's what it is detecting

This was the point a lot of people left. If you hadn’t known about the difficulty you could have left. This is where kcd2 will come in and fix that. Gamer Gate wasn't strictly about ideology, it started because of individuals getting an unfair advantage in coverage due to their "connections" with journalists. On top of being incredibly unethical, that kind of corruption puts small unknown developers in an even worse position as they can't afford to have those favors to get a chance at recognition. GG2 is a continuation of that trend, except now the ones with the money and journalists in their pockets have hard ideological interests and unless stopped, would dominate the market through sheer influence. Corruption has always been at the forefront, but now it's some twisted form of an attempt to dominate both reviews and what information is even IN videogames.

I'm just totally converted now, and I always loved fantasy, but my view now is that historically accurate is better than fantasy. If you listen to lore in a fantasy game, you barely pay attention or care half the time cuz it's just what some guy made up. "After this game they began to simplify their formula to appeal to a broader audience." The irony!. Back in 2002 old-school Arena and Daggerfall fans said Morowind was simplified. They said it was not a "real" RPG at all. In fact, the first time I encountered the term "dumbed down" on gaming forums was in relation to Morrowind. They had something of a valid point too. Morrowind is, by far, the most simplified game in the Elder Scrolls series, relative to its predecessor. Everything social media says about modern gaming in 2024 they said about Morrowind in 2002 (sometimes literally word for word). The more things change the more they stay the same.
@SuperSpellsАй бұрын
Context makes all the difference in cases like these. But that's what everyone says when they prefer the games they like over something new that does something different. I never played Arena or Daggerfall, so I can't comment on them, but the transition from Morrowind to Oblivion was jarring in terms of just how streamlined and easy everything became. I'd personally like to know in exactly what aspects Morrowind was not a real RPG and how it was dumbed down. Like the specific mechanics or aspect of the game rather than broad terms. Because a lot of people will make that argument, but won't have clear and obvious examples to demonstrate. Also, I'm well aware that this isn't your argument, and you don't need to defend the opinions of people who made comments 22 years ago. I'm just curious xD

@@SuperSpells Morowind cut 12 skills from Daggerfall, Oblivion cut 6 skills from Morrowind and Skyrim cut 3 skills from Oblivion. So, in terms of skills we see that of these three games Morowind simplified the most (A couple of specifics: Daggefall's Streetwise and Etiquette skills eliminated and consolidated into Morowind's simpler Speechcraft skill, the elimination of Daggerfall's nine language skills which could be learned in order to pacify enemies and avoid combat). Morrowind eliminated joinable factions such as Daggerfall's ten Knightly Orders and eight Temples (with political affiliations and services and quests), reduced Daggerfall's nine Vampire bloodlines to three, eliminated Daggerfall's fourteen witch covens (and the quests they offered), eliminated Daggerfalls national and regional Holidays, eliminated its banking system (including letters of credit, loans and interest payments, as well as re-sellable player housing), item identification services (in Daggerfall magical items had to be identified by a Master of the Scry before they could be used), eliminated ship travel, horses, map-based fast travel, reputation in Daggerfall could go up or down according to a character's actions (and could often make other factions hostile) whereas reputation in Morrowind can only go up. I could go on, but I think these examples are sufficient to make the point. The size and scope of Morrowind was drastically reduced and, in some cases, made simpler, relative to Daggerfall. Daggerfall's map is 80,823 square miles in size; Vvardenfell is approximately 6 square miles in size. It is estimated that Daggerfall City contains over 800 buildings; Balmora contains 41 buildings. City day and night cycles were eliminated (city gates are closed at night, open during the day (though if a character has a high Climbing skill they can climb over the walls at night). There are 4,229 dungeons in Daggerfall; there are 273 dungeons in Morrowind. And so on. Daggerfall's character creation is the finest in the series. Daggerfall allows the player to adjust a character's health, starting attributes (between 75 and 10), adjust leveling speed, and allows the player to choose from a list of advantages/disadvantages (effectively creating custom Birthsigns). Morrowind does have its good points. Its handcrafted game world can feel more immersive. And, in my opinion, its main quest is the best in the entire series. I have never understood the charge of not being a true RPG though. I am able to roleplay in all the Elder Scrolls games just fine.
@SuperSpellsАй бұрын
@@PseronWyrd Thanks for the huge breakdown! Though I imagine that some of the cut factions could easily be explained by they don't exist on the continent that the game takes place on. Reputation going down would've been nice to see as well. And I agree that Morrowinds main narrative still feels better to me than Oblivion (especially Oblivion, you aren't even the hero in that one) and Skyrim. But I can understand those that feel scope, quantity of dungeons and buildings, and size of the explorable area are more key features for open world RPGs for some than others. I don't have the same values, but I can understand them at any rate. I do still wish you had access to some spells (and specifically, spell creation) that you had in Morrowind. Namely levitation. Being able to fly in Morrowind was a novel experience for me and no other open world game has let me do it since. Not without mods anyway, as I think Skyrim has some flying mods.

@AVVGaming115 күн бұрын
Thank you very much! I have already seen a video today which confirms that they are improving the controls to be more user friendly and easier to use. Which will certainly help get more people adapted. I think the thing is they have to make it more user friendly and yet not lose that difficulty or uniquesness thst the first game had. That is vital! I bet they’ll pull it off though!

As a Morrowind diehard fan , I cannot agree more with you. I played dozens of RPGs and forgot most of their names. Dragon Age, Fable, etc cannot compete, they are not even in the same league. Absolute love your video!
@AVVGaming122 күн бұрын
Oh thank you so much! I think it’s about immersion and trusting the player to figure stuff out. When that happens, it makes you more immersed because you gotta really get into it and focus. When I see a game like DAV, it’s so in your face that you never get immersed as they always tell you what to do. Player freedom leads to experimentation. If we both play DAV we will have the same experience. If we both play KCD or Morrowind we will have completely different experiences. That’s the beauty in it!
@maxraynard8433Ай бұрын
Bro I was with you until the gamer gate stuff, what a bummer that’s your perspective. Games having an “ideology” isn’t bad, games being bad is bad. Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the best rpg’s of all time and has plenty of ideological commentary in it.
@Dvori.officialАй бұрын
Except that it's exactly the opposite. Games serve as an escape from reality for most players. No one will address trans and LGBT issues in their games. A small percentage of players will, but not the majority. The absolute majority will Hate it
@Richard-rk1ruАй бұрын
Yeah all great works of art carry an ideology, an philosophical overlap and comment on morality. Something that the devs stand for. Opinions make us human after all. And I think AVV realizes that too. It was just poorly worded and he made it sound like he want all works of fiction to be hollow, gutted and without and opinion. But I think he was still talking only about the 'bad agendas' not all of it. Well that's the impression he has left on me at least.
@ZachariahJАй бұрын
Yes, it is disappointing that he's come out as a gatekeeper. If people don't like games, they shouldn't buy them. Just buy the games you like, and don't buy the ones you don't like. Embrace the free market, not cancel culture! I'll still prob watch some of his vids, but I'm unsubscribing. That's my choice as a consumer! People should take similar choices when buying games, instead of feeling they are entitled to have all games made suitable for them.
@AVVGaming1Ай бұрын
Sorry to have lost your sub! Honestly, it went against what I wanted to do even covering the DEI stuff. What happened is I made a video saying I enjoyed DAV, and lost a lot of subs. Then I tried to correct it by giving my opinion and then stupidly thought I could come across as neutral and balanced on the subject, which upset people even more. Bottom line is this, it won’t ever be mentioned in any video again in the future from me. I’m done with it and I want to move on. To be honest I don’t care about DEI and I think the reaction to the new Witcher 4 trailer is ridiculous. I’m just tired of it being all over my feed and seeing people beat up on games, and then get millions of views. However, I made a mistake. I apologise to yourself, and I give you my word I won’t cover it again. It’s not me, and I should never have felt compelled to it because of other KZbinrs. I have to be me. Thank you for this comment, it really hit home!

I've been planning on getting it, but now I'm 3x as excited. I've never played the first one, and I absolutely believe there's a very bright future for the independent gaming industry
@UriahGnuАй бұрын
Warhorse Studios is in no way an indie game developer. Their first game KCD1 was made by ~100 devs, not 11, and published under Deep Silver (a large AAA publisher, later sold, and now Warhorse, Deep Silver and their current official publisher PLAION are owned by Embracer Group, worth over $40 billion dollars. Sorry to say, but they have not been indie since the kickstarter.
@hellzellz1022Ай бұрын
By that logic there is technically no indie games, as people working on projects can’t fund it without a publisher. Same logic would apply to people who write books, even if they do it themselves majority need a publisher unless they are ridiculously rich.
@UriahGnuАй бұрын
@@hellzellz1022 There is a flourishing indie industry of actual indie devs who do not need publishers and tens of millions of dollars, Warhorse is not one of them, and I would argue anyone making an open world RPG is by definition unable to be an indie developer as the funding and man power required is simply too great.
@hellzellz1022Ай бұрын
@ but by definition an independent studio would be the big studios like Ubisoft because they are the studio that is its own publisher and require nobody else. So… the definition of what is indie and what isn’t is purely subjective at this point. Arguably I would say it is more to do with the size team and availability of resources. Which warhorse was an 11 person team with minimal resources comparatively.
@UriahGnuАй бұрын
@@hellzellz1022 no it is not subjective in this case at all. Yes, AAA has to do with team size and budget, Ubisoft and EA self publishing doesn't make them indie. Also you are wrong, Warhorse had more than 100 developers to ship KCD1, the 11 devs quote was for the initial prototype for the kickstarter and instantly changed once they went into full production, and are ~250 now for KCD2. Cut it whatever way you want to, Warhorse is NOT an indie studio by any definition.
@44zeexАй бұрын
They are indie. They didn't have money so they had to Kickstart meaning they raised their own funds. Even studios when they were new like Naughty Dog and Bungie were funded by bigger companies. Bethesda was indie at one point because they made small games that they sold to fund their big games. Once they got bought they became AAA because they were told what games to make. The size of the team doesn't matter, it's where you get your money. Warhorse may now be AA because they got bought by THQ Nordic because they needed a backer because they didn't have money. Not because they were popular and a studio wanted to buy them like blizzard. Its AA now and not AAA because THQ didn't buy them for the sole purpose to make games for thq, they bought them as a backer to give them money to make what ever they wanted when they wanted. The reason it feels like AAA because the man who made mafia left that studios because they wouldn't let him be creative and half his team left with him.

It was a great video until in 17:30 you complained about the game standing towards the support of Non-Binary people. Don't get me wrong, I hate Dragon Age IV as much as the next guy, and I adore evil playthroughs in any game where I can choose to be evil because the game and I know what choices are evil, not because I want the game to validate my transphobia by telling me that it's ok to hate on a non-binary character just because their gender identity. Respecting people is not "an ideological agenda", it's what must be done and that's not negotiable.
@AVVGaming1Ай бұрын
I think maybe I need to either remove that part or explain it better. The problem is, I do so many videos thst sometimes I think I’ve explained something (like in a video 2 videos a go) and miss it in this one. But I have nothing against anyone, no matter their beliefs or anything. To be honest, the whole DEI thing actually doesn’t bother me at all, I just don’t care. I don’t notice these things. But it is clearly a huge deal in the industry nowadays according to my feed. So I guess my point was, DAV and other studios focus too much on inserting this stuff, regardless of whether it fits the story etc. the point I wanted to make is when a game studio just focuses on making a great game, and doesn’t worry about any messages or anything, it is very much appreciated. Does that make sense?
@xXMasterXx22Ай бұрын
@AVVGaming1 I don't get why people tend to say videogames used to stay away from ideology and politics since this was never the case. Every statement is political since language doesn't exist outside of the world we live in. Art, moreover, (yes, I'm speaking about videogames), exist as creations of people who exist in a world and interact with society and its problems wether they want it or not. With that being said, idealizing a time where games weren't political simply means the person that says that wasn't really paying attention. Actually, the games you regard as great in the video are filled with ideology and philosophical messages that go beyond simple entertainment. I think the real problem, in which I believe we can both agree, is in the way companies take advantage of trending social movements just for economic purposes. And the issue is that we tend to hate on each other rather than hating the ones playing and profiting with our beliefs. Gamers see LGBTQ characters purposefully designed to b annoying to trigger anti woke people, and then say devs try to push and ideological agenda (which is never the case, they don't care about ideology, they care about money and engagement), so they end up hating the ideology. In the same way, we as minorites get triggered by people hating on us and what we believe instead of explaining that those companies don't represent us nor our ideologies, and that we should all be hating on them for using our beliefs as ragebait. I can understand and believe that you don't hate minorities, however I think we all have the responsibility to anticipate misinterpretations of what we say given the context in which we discuss topics as these. I hope next time you can shed some light into the real problem so that we can work together to get some respectful representation and stop those who profit from people hating on each other. Peace ✌️🏳️🌈

@AVVGaming1 eyy. Respect. I appreciate your reply and replies all around. You seem to care. I actually did watch the W3 Ciri video. That one was really good. It was unbiased and you mentioned great points. I'm not saying you can't mention DEI, it just seemed out of place with what you were talking about in KCD and without justification. Often DEI is just used as a placed holder for bigoted opinions that are unfounded. Now if KCD had all these out of place "idealogies" AND still claimed be 100% historical I could at least say it's not unfounded. We may still disagree on the why, but at least it would be worth bringing up then. Either way. It just seemed off and left the wrong impression as the first video I'd seen of yours. Again, the ciri one was good. And everything else on this KCD one was, too haha

You are absolutely right! I agree with every word, I am also tired of games where they tell me what to do, I don't feel freedom anymore, I don't feel the feeling of a pioneer, I don't feel the unknown, huge open worlds are not always cool, like Assassin Valhalla, but there are old games like Gothic, where a small world and cool game design, together with the coolest atmosphere can give unforgettable sensations, alas, now this is such a rarity. p.s. By the way, there is a possibility that the Gothic Remake will also give us another drop of that same old game concept that has now sunk into oblivion. The developers listen to the fans, and I hope that they will also be able to make a successful game, and perhaps we will see a sequel... p.s.s. Sry for my English.
