Saying Metro is good is like saying that crack is fun and addicting - its fucking understatement. I still remember playing Metro Last Light on the hardest difficulty, with no HUD and no spending money back on my Xbox 360. I feel like even though it was rather well received Metro series is still underrated as fuck.

Not being mainstream is not the same thing as being underrated. Nobody underrates these games, there’s a handful of people who don’t enjoy them, but that’s totally fine. Not everything is going to click for everyone. But nobody who plays these games underrates them. I only ever see these games showered in overwhelming praise.

This is kinda my own pet theory, but I always saw Metros mortality system as less of a general goodness system and more like specific virtues. Like the first game if youre "good" its more like youre inquisitive and innocent always trying to learn more. If you dont bother learning more about the metro or try to be merciful then artyom wont either. In Last Light you're trying to prove that you're capable of mercy even to your enemies. Remember that Artyom is linked to the infant dark one psychicly so its being taught what kind of man artyom is via your actions. Its also kind of the same in exodus with miller being on coms with you the whole time. You can probe that youre a good leader that focuses on protecting the crew or a ruthless bastard that gets his men killed. Each game has a slightly different moral standard but its never yours its always a character in the world (if you consider gameplay artyom and journal artyom to be a little different.)

I must be playing metro again since I’m getting recommended new metro retrospectives haha. I first played the series about a year ago in late 2023 on a whim. Boy what a treat. I have my daily free to play game but I always like having a single player story game to be working on too. I ended up not finishing Exodus cause I got distracted but recently just started playing the series again after playing Stalker 2. It’s still great, I’m trying to get all the leftover achievements so I played 2033 twice back to back. It so replayable. I’m now on to Exodus and will actually finish it this time. 2033 is amazing, I think Exodus is great cause they added the open world aspect. Last Light is good but I just think it’s too long having just finished it again

The English V.O is fine. Is actually pretty damn good. The accent is on purpose. The characters are supposed to be speaking Russian. The English dubbing is done with a Russian accent on purpose to be as authentic as possible. If you play the game in Russian Sam will have an American accent when speaking Russian because he is literally a foreigner which was forced to learn the language due to being stuck in Russia when the nukes hit.

The Redux version crashes on RTX series cards with advanced PhysX turned on...if you turn it off, it stops crashing, or at least crashes less :D

I remember being wildly disappointed by Exodus. I got it launch day. I drove through a blizzard, ironically, to the Gamestop to get a physical copy. When I played it the latency was horrendous. I'm talking full 2-3 seconds of input lag. Frame rate was also pretty choppy. And the lip sync was bad. But even if it ran well I didn't much care how it's morale system worked. If you want the good ending you practically have to be a pacifist and never kill anything. In a first person shooter. Where the only actions you can perform is walk and shoot. You are disincentivized to shoot anything cus it'll potentially kill off your crew in some unforseen way. It doubly sucked because any incentive to explore the world is rendered pointless because any rewards you'll find are new guns and/or attachments. You know, for the guns you can't use. Maybe it's better now, I dunno.

The first two metros were amazing, the third kinda lost me with its attempt of open world idea and its attempt at ghouls lost me buuuut the environment is still good. Metro last light was just to amazing to beat.
