The first two metros were amazing, the third kinda lost me with its attempt of open world idea and its attempt at ghouls lost me buuuut the environment is still good. Metro last light was just to amazing to beat.

This is kinda my own pet theory, but I always saw Metros mortality system as less of a general goodness system and more like specific virtues. Like the first game if youre "good" its more like youre inquisitive and innocent always trying to learn more. If you dont bother learning more about the metro or try to be merciful then artyom wont either. In Last Light you're trying to prove that you're capable of mercy even to your enemies. Remember that Artyom is linked to the infant dark one psychicly so its being taught what kind of man artyom is via your actions. Its also kind of the same in exodus with miller being on coms with you the whole time. You can probe that youre a good leader that focuses on protecting the crew or a ruthless bastard that gets his men killed. Each game has a slightly different moral standard but its never yours its always a character in the world (if you consider gameplay artyom and journal artyom to be a little different.)

Saying Metro is good is like saying that crack is fun and addicting - its fucking understatement. I still remember playing Metro Last Light on the hardest difficulty, with no HUD and no spending money back on my Xbox 360. I feel like even though it was rather well received Metro series is still underrated as fuck.
