Thanks for the subscription, I'm glad you enjoy what we do here at GYGO. I loved the Reverb G2 back in the day, I'm a little worried with Microsoft "Deprecating" WMR in Windows 11 (see the community tab for details). I can't quite get an answer if it affects the use of the G2 or if it will just no longer get support moving forward BUT will work as well as it always has. I'd love to hear from you what version of Windows you are running and if you have any issues with the G2 once you get it. Thanks again for watching!

I red that you can put VR headset in a plastic bag with a few silica gel bags in it for a couple of days and then the moisture gets out. Sometimes moisture somehow gets in to the lenses. Other thing is when you put it on your face, don't squiz it to hard to youre face.

Nice review, great setup. It’s too bad Varjo doesn’t lower the price on their headsets. The marginal improvement in VR cannot be justified at the current price point for a lot of folks. I’m sure they could make up for lower per-unit profit margins by an increase in volume if they chose to go that route. Sell 100 units for $300 profit margin or 300 units for $100 profit margin, the result for them is the same, the accessibility for users and adoption of the Varjo system would take them a lot further as a company. It’s only a matter of time when a competitor will step in and take the lion’s share of that market segment if they don’t do it first. I’m sure the experience isn’t 4x as good as that which could be had with the HP Reverb.
@GYGOtv
@GYGOtv Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment aerostar, and I'm willing to bet they are working on a consumer version that might come in a little cheaper. Remember, the way Varjo got into the consumer space in the first place was because gamers were buying their $3500 VR-3 headset (plus the $800 per year subscription) and the gamers were just asking Varjo to do away with the annual cost. Instead Varjo developed the Aero which almost cut the cost in half and did drop the subscription for it. Now that Varjo sees the Consumer Market as viable, I bet they will make a headset specifically for the consumer market from the ground up. I bet it will still be around $1500 or so but with the price of the new Quest Pro, and Pimax headsets... that will still be a bargain. But you are correct, the Reverb G2 is a much better value... just not the best experience possible.
@mikerichardsonuk
@mikerichardsonuk Жыл бұрын
I have to say I don’t think the Improvement is marginal, remember the Varjo is flight qualified for training and gamers, with racing and aviators willing to pick them them up @3500 before the Aero arrived, the price you pay to access that kind of improvement has and will continue come down though. Having used the XR-3 then purchasing the Aero I feel it was and still is great value, it made no sense to me to have spent the time and money to build a high end system capable of delivering professional grade sim experience and not just go that bit further and get the best headset for that purpose. Value and price though are always subjective.
@stephenpelly6217
@stephenpelly6217 Жыл бұрын
I own both the Reverb G2 version 2 and the Varjo Aero. To my mind currently the Aero is slightly better than the G2 all round and yes, this overall experience improvement is not proportional to the price difference. However, I think the Aero has more potential looking to the future as PCs become powerful enough to comfortably run the headset at full resolution. I have a pretty decent PC (with RTX 3080) and I have to dial down my VR settings to get a smooth experience with the Aero. I once dialed these setting right up and the clarity in FS2020 was mind blowing. Of course the sim was completely unplayable because of the ridiculously low frame rate, but as PCs get better, it will become playable with these settings. Oh and the internal fan - YES! In my opinion all headsets should come with an internal fan!!
@GYGOtv
@GYGOtv Жыл бұрын
@@mikerichardsonuk I couldn't agree more Mike... we drop $1500 on a graphics card to maximize graphics, why wouldn't we expect to spend a similar amount to actually put that power into our eyes with a high end vr headset. This was my thinking as well when deciding to buy the Aero.
@GYGOtv
@GYGOtv Жыл бұрын
@@stephenpelly6217 You bring up a GREAT point Stephen, with the built in eye tracking on the Aero, it will be ready to utilize dynamic foveated rendering when that becomes more mainstream. That is the exact process that the PSVR2 has implemented to get good vr performance from the PS5. The eye tracking alone is worth at least some of the justification for the higher price.

The Hot Swappable battery is one thing I'm really excited about. The only negative thing I've seen so far is that the lenses seem to have a small amount of built in correction to them but I'm sure that will all get straightened out by production time. I'm going to hold off and see how good the 12k Qled ends up being, but I'm 95% confident one of these 2 headsets will be my next roomscale units. Can't wait to see how the 12k gets reviewed. I’ve got a small fortune invested in a motion platform and flightsim setup. Still on the G2. I looked at the Aero but for $2k plus the light house system, I expect near perfection. The Aero may be the best, but only incremental. The setup is about five times as expensive as the G2. The moment mainstream VR catches up, and it will, the Aero will lose its value. Normal for hardware progress but I rather keep the G2 and spend the $2k on a VR product with less issues in the future. Needs wider and higher FOV, integrated audio and distortion free at this price point.

Hi Mark, I was greatly amused to see how the rig flew backwards during the catapult shot. Very nice! And that made me wonder - a couple of days later - about how the rig performs during aerial refuelling in DCS - in a probe and drogue configuration. Are you getting any realistic heave feedback as you try to maintain a constant altitude relative to the drogue?
@GYGOtv
@GYGOtv Жыл бұрын
Hi Peter... yes the Cat Shot is one of my FAVORITE parts of flying in DCS. What is also cool during carrier ops is when you hook into the shuttle with the front gear you get a pretty good bump so it feels like you just hit something and are rolling over it. As for Air to Air refuel, not really much other than just normal flight maneuvers with the motion, but no extra turbulance or anything like that. Since I've never really done any Air to Air refuel in real life I can't say how realistic it is (hell never been shot off a cat either... but it is FUN, I can say that :) Thanks for watching, and if you haven't seen these yet, might be fun for you to watch kzbin.info/www/bejne/iXOVl4iuhLuqjZI and kzbin.info/www/bejne/p3SufnqVlqmBoNE and kzbin.info/www/bejne/npvXfZt7dtmcoqM

Hey Mark, thanks for this comparison video. Been using my G2 since it came out and it's been great (few issues with even the new V2 cable from time to time). But since HP isn't going to continue in the VR space, I was considering other headsets. I was considering the Pimax Crystal, however I have not heard great things about their launch (which seems to also be in their history). The Aero was too expensive having to get lighthouse tracking as well, but I found Varjo had a limited time deal I was able to purchase the Aero with 2 free lighthouse trackers, so I pulled the trigger on it. Good to know, it will be an upgrade to the G2.

Great setup. I've been using the G2 for the past 16 months or so. I love the visual clarity, comfort and audio, but it's basically more a flight sim accessory for me than a PCVR headset. I've never been able to get my Rift games to work with it through Revive so two thirds of my library is inaccessible and the controllers are awful to use so I still prefer my Quest 2 for actual standing, active VR. I've just ordered the Quest Pro as a hopeful upgrade to both. If it can match the visual quality and comfort of the G2 and give me far better tracking and controllers, plus all of the mixed reality features it should be a good headset for me. Still considering the Aero if I'm not happy with the Quest Pro visuals though. I just wish I didn't also have to spend out another £700 on base stations, controllers and an audi solution for the Aero. It takes the price up to £2700 for me and it still doesn't do standalone or mixed reality so I'd still need to buy another headset in the future for those to upgrade over the Quest 2, so double the price of the Quest Pro overall. Would love to have one though that must be a hell of an experience in your motion rig!

(EDIT: See my updated reply below, new information has changed my recommendation in this reply, put I want to keep it here for historical sake) Thanks for the comment Kevin. You are the perfect use case for a Quest Pro for gaming because you already have the game library. Make sure you buy the full face gasket (extra $50) or you will be able to see down where your nose is... not great for immersion. My only concern with the Quest Pro for gaming is the lack of battery life. It only gets 1-2 hours and then needs recharged. If you game less than that it shouldn't be an issue, otherwise you may have to get some battery packs for the headset AND the controllers to extend your play sessions. To be honest, IF the Pixel Crystal (or Pixel 12k QLED) ever get released, they may be exactly what you are looking for. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mKvOmo1nftKAptU and kzbin.info/www/bejne/noGWaoCmqpV6j7M Good visuals, wireless, inside out tracking, and they are supposed to have a hot swappable battery. Now we just have to wait to see if they actually ever get released. The Crystal was already supposed to be out (Q3) and the 12k QLED was supposed to be by year-end LOL. I'm sure it is at least 6 months out if not another year. Also, since you are not in the USA, take a close look at the Pico 4 that just came out. I'm not sure if it can play Quest Games, but the specs are better than the Quest Pro and it is a lot cheaper... just not available here in the USA yet. Anyway, let me know what you think of the Quest Pro... I don't see it as a good gaming headset option for most people unless someone is in your position with a lot of games, and Yes flying is an awesome experience in the motion rig :) Thanks for watching our content!

Hey Kevin, just an update to my previous post after some independent reviewers have gotten to use the Quest Pro. Battery life does not seem to be as big an issue as I original thought it would. The headset seems to run anywhere from 1 and a half hours to almost 4 hours depending on how you play, the brightness of the screens and how many of the features of the headset you have turned on. The reason why this isn't really as concerning to me now is the Quest Pro also has a USB-C port that you could plug an extra battery pack into and run it in your pocket like we did with older headsets. It also appears that the Quest Pro is capable of positive charging so, it will actually charge while plugged in and in use instead of the Quest 2 that would eventually go dead when using EVEN if it was plugged in. The controllers seem to have about a 4 to 6 hour battery life, but once they are dead they have to be recharged on the dock because they are using a proprietary plug and can't be hooked up via USB port. So just be sure to keep the controllers charged between sessions. So some news on the $50 face gasket that I previously recommended. DO NOT BUY IT because even though it is marketed as a full face, it still doesn't block light from the nose. ALSO you cannot charge the headset on the dock with it on... talk about a crappy design, way to go Meta! Instead wait for some 3rd party to release a full face gasket... I'm sure someone like VR cover will get it right. Hope that helps.

@@GYGOtv Hey man thanks for the update. I've had my Pro for three days and I'm loving it so far. The lens clarity is exceptional, truly edge to edge and there is no distortion of any kind at the edges. The colours and brightness are really good as well. I've been using it with the official USB-C link cable so I don't have to worry about battery life. My previous recent headsets have been the Quest 2, Vive Pro 2 and the Reverb G2. It absolutely smokes the Quest 2 and Vive Pro 2 for visual quality in PCVR and easily beats the G2 as well, for its overall image, although the G2's slightly higher resolution and great central clarity gives it a slight sharpness boost in the very centre. That's only noticeable in MSFS though, not in any other game I've tried where the Quest Pro image just looks much better overall. The FOV feels at least 15 percent wider than both the Q2 and G2, and a bit taller than the G2 as well. But the edge to edge clarity really makes a difference. Being able to look with your eyes really adds to the immersion and game worlds even feel a bit larger in this. I have some annoying bugs at the momemnt so hopefully we will get some update. I keep getting a 'controllers not tracked' message displayed right in the centre of the screen in MSFS or anything else when the controllers aren't in use which is maddening, hopefully they will fix that soon as I can't play MSFS because of it, it's too distracting! Half Life Alyx looks incredible though, noticeably better than it did on the G2. Very happy so far.

I'm a big proponent of the 20/80 rule - look for a product that will give you 80% of the performance of the premium product for 20% of the cost. I actually got my G2 for $300 during the Christmas sale so it was more like 15/85 vs. The Aero so it was a no brainer. Not sure why your having trouble with the head position tracking though, I thought that was done with internal gyroscopes and the lighthouses were for controller tracking? Might be an issue with your G2.

Hi Dave, sorry I didn't see this message... it slipped past my notices. Yep I'd say the HP G2 is a perfect example of the 80/20 Rule in this case. Congrats on the purchase... I still think the G2 is the best value out there (especially for $300)! There are no Gyroscopes for tracking in the G2... Not even close to precise enough, that is what those old "insert your phone here" type VR kits used. The G2 uses cameras to "see" where it's at and it is just an issue every once in awhile, not all that often. Also, I have the first version of the headset and I think they made some adjustments to the new ones to make it a little better. Anyway, thanks for the comment and watching our stuff. Appreciate it.

I'm thinking about going with the G2 V2 (July 4 sale price of $400) as a stopgap so I can wait to see how the rest of this generation of new headsets shakes out before committing to a headset in the $1500+ price range. I only sim race, no flying. Is this a reasonable strategy or am I just going to be disapppointed in the G2 compared to the triple 48" OLED displays I run now? I have never experienced VR in any headset so I'm a total VR novice. I can afford the Aero, but it seems like a headset that's been around for a few years SHOULD be surpassed by newer headsets being released this year at a similar price point and I don't want to buy the Aero only to feel like I bought it just before it was surpassed by something else. The Crystal seems to have failed to do that, however, so maybe nothing else will, either? I sure wish there was some way to try these things before committing to one.

@GYGOtv Жыл бұрын
Hi Samgendler, appreciate the question! SO if you have never tried VR before, I'd say the G2 will likely blow your mind racing. The scale and the 3D makes it feel like you are really in the racecar and you can't match that with flat screens. You will give up a little resolution in the G2 over the flat screens, but it is still an awesome experience so I'd say go for it. The G2 in my opinion is still the best choice for simming on a budet (especially at $400) Also, by getting the G2 first, it will give you the chance to make sure you won't get motion sick in VR and will give you a great baseline of what VR Racing is like. I will tell you that if you do like it, switching from the G2 to the Aero was specifically spectacular for racing. Something about the edge to edge clarity that makes sim racing in the Aero such a super experience. I'm expecting the same from the Crystal but will have to wait and see. So I'd recommend going for the HP G2 for now and see what you like and don't like about it and that will give you a good direction for your next headset down the road. Hope that helps, and thanks for watching!

Hi Mark I am on the fence about the Aero and your videos are about to push me over. I really appreciate you taking the time to going back and forth and discussing your experiences. I have a G2, 4090 and 5800x3D and record everything in OBS. I fly mainly multiplayer because I use kneeboards a lot I can not have motion reprojection turned on. So this combination costs me quite some CPU power. In order to have things clear and stable in the G2 I had to lower my G2 frequency to 60Hz. For me the visuals (FOV and sharpness) are secundairy to the stability and smoothness both in the headset and in the videos. I wonder what your experience with stutters is between the G2 and Aero headsets in combination with the recordings, especially after the Multi Threading update. I would like to return to 90Hz in the headset and wonder if that can be achieved with the Aero, because I kind of get the impression that the Aero takes care of clearing things up quite a bit in comparison to the G2. So if I may ask what is your experience with recordings and stutters between the two headsets? I am using an OBS-mirror currently. Also is there a way to catch you on a Discord somewhere? Thanks!

Hi Ready... Well thanks for the comment! SO... I don't know what your feelings about Pimax are, but the new Crystal may be a better choice than the Aero as far as visuals. It has the same clarity, but a bigger FOV (especially vertically). Also, blacker blacks with the QLED screens. So obviously I can't speak to how efficient it is with OBS because haven't got my hands on one yet. That being said, if you are going to choose AERO anyway... I can tell you it performs better than the G2 pretty much across the board. Not by a lot but certainly better. With Varjo Base's motion smoothing, it took out many of the stutters I had before having it and that was before multi-threading. Unfortunately I haven't had a chance to try it now that multi-threading is a thing, but I can't imagine it doesn't help a ton. With a 4090 I think you will be good. I do have a discord, but never use it... but you can usually catch us on our livestream while we game either Wed. at 3:30pm Mountain time, or most Sunday's at 2pm Mountain time (obviously not tomorrow as it is Easter). Hey Mark, do you see the 4090 launch as possibly the biggest step forward for VR since the Areo launched, given the large performance boost.
@GYGOtv
@GYGOtv Жыл бұрын
Hi Fish, thanks for the question. I'm very excited about the 4090, it looks like realistically you can expect about 50% improvement on non-DLSS games. I don't know if I'd say the biggest step forward for VR BUT it is certainly the biggest single performance step we have seen in graphics cards in years. I think one of the biggest steps for VR might be the new pancake lenses, or will be when they actually implement Dynamic Foveated Rendering, and hopefully that will be something in the video driver so it will work universally and not be game developer depended. Not sure if that will happen but that is what I'm hoping for. SO the 4090 is expensive, and I'm going to wait to see if the AMD Cards might drive down the price a little when they come out next month. What I'm leaning toward right now is maybe waiting for the 4090ti (probably a year away) because the 4090 architecture has room to grow and my current 3080ti runs everything ALMOST good enough. I will say, when I do buy a 4000, I will get a water cooled version. Those huge heatsinks are both big and heavy and I don't want that much weight on my PCI-E slot. Also just a final note from what I've been seeing on the 4090, I think 850 watt power supplies might be big enough to run the card if you don't overclock the cards (which they don't seem to want to do very well anyway). Hope that answers your question, and yes I'm very excited to see what this amount of power can do to run current headsets and maybe the next gen as well :)

I just use my mouse. As for the lenses fogging up, I have prescription inserts so don't need to wear my glasses, and I've never had the lenses fog up. Since you're mostly using the the Aero now, I don't suppose it makes any difference to you now, but someone else might read this and realise that they don't need to use controllers - less clutter around their work station for one thing. And, on the subject of Steam VR, I made the switch to Open XR a month or two ago and it has made a huge difference, allowing me to increase pixel density from around .7 to 1 with my RTX 2070 Super. My DCS install is not in Steam, so it's just the Steam VR I'm talking about here. Someone told me not to get the HP G2. to me it has a fantastic display. My only complaint is the controllers. I came from using the much older first Oculus Rift. The Display of the HP G2 is a massive improvement. But the controllers seem like a big downgrade, mostly for a newer headset. No finger tracking. And you lose tracing of the controllers easy. Have not tried it yet, but seen some say, I can mod the control setup in Steam to make use of the Index controllers with the G2 headset. Would have been nice if I could make the G2 work with the Index controllers out of the box, as an option. I would have done that from the start. Aside from the G2 controllers not being near as good to use as the Rift controllers, I have no other regrets in getting the G2. VR just looks so great with it. Great video thanks for the revisit, especially after spending so much time in the vario. But I am confused after watching your video and seeing the launch off the carrier, and why is it set up backwards on your motion simulator. The initial launch appears that the seat is thrusting backwards giving you the motion simulation of breaking and throwing your body forwards. But of course during the lunch the first movement should be your body being thrown back into the seat, and then after release forwards. Care to elaborate?
@GYGOtv
@GYGOtv Жыл бұрын
Thanks for taking the time to write such a long question, appreciate you watching our stuff. I think I see what you are asking, but want to verify... You are saying that because a launch would push you into the seat that the seat should instead be moved forward and pushed into me, correct? That is an interesting idea and I may have to experiment with it, but what I can tell you is it "feels" right the way it is. I think it physically moving me back is in line with what my ear is sensing for movement and matches the visual experience. Because the seat is transversing along the z axis for several inches I think that is the correct movement. I know when I decelerate it also feels correct as I get pushed forward as you would expect to do when you come to a sudden stop. What I think would work best would be if you could blend the z movement with a little pitch back so you get the pressure from the seat on your back while also moving backwards... but the sim cannot do those together from what I understand. Anyway, I will try to find some time to reverse that axis as see how it feels moving forward instead. I'll let you know what I find out.
@WilliamDeanPlumbing
@WilliamDeanPlumbing Жыл бұрын
@@GYGOtv yes that's correct you should be being pushed into the seat not pushed towards the dashboard. Much like when you see a car Sim and the car accelerates the seat can tilt upwards to give a sensation of more G-Force on your back. But I'm almost beginning to believe that your sim chair is beginning it's movement at the time your aircraft leaves the catapult hook which I guess that would probably give you a sensation of being pushed forward a little bit and the seat just isn't or registering the acceleration from a dead stop. But I noticed at least the chair tilts you upwards but the screen oddly goes black at the launch. It's probably correct it's just my perception that's probably the problem.🤷 but I am curious to see what it would feel like if the chair was already recessed to the rear of the simulator as you wait for launch, and then lurches forward and tilt you back in unison.
@GYGOtv
@GYGOtv Жыл бұрын
@@WilliamDeanPlumbing Ya for some reason I started to blackout in the sim on the launch, which doesn't usually happen so not sure why on that one. I tried reversing the axis and it was ALL WRONG. I understand what you are saying, but I think the problem is the platform doesn't really have enough force to "push" into you. It just moves you so you don't really get that G-Force sensation, and your inner ear is telling you you are moving forward instead of backwards. I think the effect you are looking for could be accomplished with the PT Actuator belt tensioner system www.pt-actuator.com/products/Active_Belt_Tensioner/2021/0202/322.html because that would loosen the belts on the launch and then tighten them when you land and get thrown forward. I think if you mixed this system with the correct movement in the sim, it would give you what you are looking for. Anyway, it was a worthwhile experiment, but does not feel right going that way to me. Hope that answers your question.

Hi Gamemaster. The DOF Reality H6 is currently listed at $5219. You will also have to buy a chair for it and then whatever peripherals you want to include. I''m probably around $8000ish, but hard to say as I had a lot of the HOTAS etc. already. Here is a video I made talking about the value of the DOF if you are interested. kzbin.info/www/bejne/j3WbeHl7pdmois0 Thanks for watching.

Good idea. For me it's going FROM the G2, back to the Odyssey +, and even on rare occasion the psvr. I dunno, the somewhat less field of view, the higher processing power requirement, the extra power cord, and perhaps biggest of all, the off-blacks, are just some of the things I don't care for with the G2.
@GYGOtv
@GYGOtv Жыл бұрын
O man Mike, I hear you on the off-blacks. I swore I would never buy a non-OLED VR headset and now I have 2 (the G2 and the Aero). Something about not having black-blacks that just bugs the hell out of me. The Aero software now lets you turn down the overall brightness, but even with that it isn't even close to OLED. Now if we could only get an OLED headset with Aspheric lenses. I may end up buying the PSVR2 if someone finds a way to hack it for PC... that is how much I LOVE OLED! Thanks for the comment!

@@GYGOtv As for the blacks, all you get out of me is "I totally agree! Couldn't agree more." PSVR2, that sounds like a good idea. Yes I know the original has been able to work on PC with a $20 app, but is that FULL compatibility? Isn't there some concern some things might not work fully, some apps / drivers / etc might be mismatched? Or weird issues popping up now and then?
@GYGOtv

@@mikem.2078 Who knows, but if it works for the majority of things then we would have a modern day OLED screen with high resolution. That has been the dream since OLED seemed to go away years ago. Now what I don't know is if the QLED screens from Pimax will be able to get close to OLED, that is what I'm watching for mostly right now. Of course the Pimax headsets may not come out in my lifetime the way it is looking :)

Hi John, I can't speak for others but for me YES it was worth it. If you haven't watched my full review, you can see it here kzbin.info/www/bejne/iJ7KmYGGodt9i80. If you are comparing to your OG Vive (not the Vive Pro) then you won't believe the difference in quality. And the best part is you already have the lighthouses and controllers. I assume if you are getting it for $1200 then you are buying second hand? If you end up buying new, I do have an affiliate that won't cost you more from retail and helps out our channel. You can use that here to order if your other deal doesn't work out, Varjo AERO (Affiliate Link) varjo.idevaffiliate.com/111.html. Good luck and let me know what you think after you get one. @@johngogan1115 The distortion is not really an issue anymore except at the extreme edges... you likely won't even notice it in games. So I guess the BIG question is what do you like to play mostly? The Aero is great for seeing details like gauges, etc. but if you do more roomscale type stuff there might be better value options for you. I don't have any experience with the bigscreen VR or Retro arcade so can't help you there. What is more important to you, clarity or field of view? @@RE-zz7tr Interesting... I don't remember ever doing anything special in settings for that so could it have been on by default an you accidently turned something off? You could also try adding the -force_steam_VR to the end of your executable like I did for the Aero. Mine is ""C:\Games\DCS\DCS World\bin\DCS.exe" --force_steam_VR" but obviously you would make it apply to your specific directory. As for the mirrored desktop, that was just so I could record DCS in full screen, If I would have minimized that it wouldn't have had the mirror. Hope some of this helps.

Hi MMX2, well I haven't heard of the G3 officially being announced yet so no telling how long the wait might be. I kinda regret getting the G2 instead of the Quest 2... The head tracking is terrible on the G2 and the increased pixel density will bring my 3080ti to its knees.... I got the upgraded cable and it did not solve my tracking issues...
@GYGOtv
@GYGOtv Жыл бұрын
Hi duke... your head tracking shouldn't be THAT bad, are you in a room with good lighting and also with contrasting things on the walls (like photos or windows etc)? The 3080ti should run it pretty good, make sure you are not super sampling it too much... that is the biggest mistake I see and it will tank performance. I have my per eye resolution set to 60% in steamvr which is the native pixel resolution of the headset. Also the replacement cable wasn't to fix tracking, it was to fix a dropout issue with AMD processors but it's good you have it. The bottom line is your G2 should be running better than it is, it is either incorrect settings, or a faulty headset which HP would fix if that is the case. If you want a little more info on tracking you can watch my video kzbin.info/www/bejne/omeUXqKnrr-Ngpo start at 4 min.17 sec. to go right to that section. Hope this helps, please let me know if you get it to work better.

@@GYGOtv i have pretty much given up on it... I got it 2nd hand so i don't have the receipt for RMA... I have tried stronger lights, it wont help... Sometimes the headset will refuse to calibrate into the space at all... If it does, it works a lot better than just plain gyro-tracking... Also sometimes the flashlight option wont work at all which makes me think it can't even utilize the cameras... Then i move a little and it does work... Being a new 2nd generation cable makes me rule it out, but could it be the cable itself that's causing this? Then again i'd rather spend 200 on a used Quest 2 than 150 on a cable for my G2 that may not fix it at all... Thanks for your reply though man, i really appreciate it :)

@@dukeofdream Well Hell, that sucks... I have 4 friends that all have the G2 and that is not their experience at all, and certainly not mine either. Sounds like it just might be a faulty unit, so I don't think a new cable would help. I know you will probably disagree, but I'd recommend trying a new G2 over a Quest 2 (unless you want the wireless option) because the Quest 2 is just not as good of an image, fov etc. It is easier, but not a better experience in the headset... Of course at this point maybe wait for the Pico 4 to get released in the USA, it is like a supercharged version of the Quest 2 so that might be worth waiting for. Hi Alexis, In my opinion the G2 is the headset for all VR enthusiasts... Best Value out there. The Aero is justified at 4x the cost for me... but certainly not for others. Varjo isn't in the market for all VR enthusiasts, not their target market, they are for Prosumer and Corporate. The company making the closest headset "for all" would be Meta. As for a toy for the rich, well I'm not rich but VR is a huge part of what I enjoy so I make it a priority to spend my $$$ on. The bad news is I don't think you are going to see "affordable" headsets for awhile, the trend seems to be prices going higher... just like everything else in the world these days.
