@Curly Chemistry First, I would like to say thank you for providing such informative and highly beneficial videos which I have found to be both educational , and gives me the answers I could not find elsewhere. For years I hated my natural hair and hid it away under weaves and relaxers. I now know it was because I didn't understand my hair and how to care for it, or even how special and beautiful it is. My awakening happened in 2014 when I came across an article that explained the dangerous chemicals that relaxers contain, so, when I realised these chemicals actually seep into the skin and their potential, I knew it was my responsibility to act and treat my health with respect. I cut off my relaxed hair and began my natural hair journey which I have found to be both liberating and true to myself. My hair is a mixture of 2A, 2C, and 3C. It is low-porosity, with fine strands and lots of follicles so, when it is out I have lots of hair, and as you can imagine it also tangles quickly. I moisturise every two days, and my PMP routine is centered around coconut and olive oil as a prepoo, TGIN leave-in, sealed with Jojoba oil. Keep up the great work, lots of love from the UK!!

My personal PMP is : P- coconut cream mixed with ayurvedic powders or african pride aloe vera prepoo M- a leave in either Pink's Luster coconut one or Shea Moisture JBCO leave in P- Curly Proverbz DIY ayurvedic oil blend (that I customize a little depending on what I have available) But I have a question though: what are your thoughts on ayurvedic treatments (plants, seeds, technique etc.)? Could you make a serie about it? because ayurveda has been key to my hair's health yet as chemist I'd like your scientific insight Because based on this video, since I'm not using any oils as my prepoos, then I missing out on something...

If folks are washing their hair once (maybe a couple of times) a week like most naturals do, if not *less* frequently, what is the likelihood that they could experience hygral fatigue, necessitating prepoo in the first place? From my understanding constantly wet/damp hair and over conditioning (esp on damaged hair to begin with) is the main factor for hygral fatigue and not a weekly/biweekly wash. Also if your M step has protecting oils in the formulation do you need to add more?

If you’re not washing your hair daily and leaving it wet you are very unlikely to experience hygral fatigue

Hairstylist would also argue that you don’t need another oil if your styler has some already

I usually wash my hair once a week and struggle badly with the ends of my hair. My hair dries VERY fast, especially the ends. As a result I can never get my ends smooth for a style and they knot up badly. I found this video and gave it a try after having it in a crochet for 4 weeks, starting with a coconut hot oil treatment that I let sit overnight. The difference was night and day--easy to detangle and hardly any fairy knots. I shared with my mom who had also taken out a crochet after 3-4 weeks and washed her hair. In addition to her regular complaints, she said her hair was hard and brittle and snapping at the slightest touch. She did the prepoo that night and the next day after washing/conditioning, said her hair looked and felt "so much better". For some of us, it is not about the frequency of washing. Every time, my hair will soak up all the water it can. I have been missing that oil/water balance.

@@EBlack2011 when is the last time you got a trim? Did you get a trim before your protective style? Tbh the way many naturals are using oils is just a way to mask (literally it's a layer) the condition of our hair whether that is weathered split ends that are tangling, product buildup, a lack of water in the strands. Oils are smooth and slick and so yes the hair will feel better but the hair is in the exact same condition underneath it

Personally I will always recommend oils for the hair, not using oils is like walking around with no lotion on your skin the dryness will come and you will be ashy lol but at the end of the day everyone must do what works for them. And if for someone not using oils on their hair works for them then by all means do what works! ☺️

@@natural7ly694 Lol! I have to do it, unfortunately. I'm allergic to pure oils, butters, grease and half of the styling products on the shelf. I moisture train my hair by deep conditioning weekly with heat and moisturising daily and wearing weekly protective styles such as 2 or 3 french braids, twist or flat twists.

Another question 😄 is Grapeseed oil and Olive oil penetrating oils. I think I read to much because I read that low porosity hair shouldn't prepoo. Again I need help 🆘🆘🆘

Great video I love soya oil and I infuse mine with a herb and use it for hair growth. Can I use the infused soya oil for preepoos? Will it penetrate my hair
@aracelischlosser69933 жыл бұрын
I don't really follow any strict routine. I don't really pre-poo at all. I use a sulfate free shampoo and then conditioner every other day, and clarify about twice a month. After washing/conditioning, I like to use a moisturizing styling cream (right now Maui Moisture de-tangle cream), then jojoba oil. To seal in everything, I use either Sweet Almond oil, or Argan oil. I have a factory job, so I end up putting my hair up and under a hair net/helmet all day. The days I wear my hair out, I finish with a styling mousse.

Great video as always Tanya! Quick question: how do I moisturize my hair when it's blown out( blow dryed)? Thanks 😊
@CurlyChemistry3 жыл бұрын
When I use to blow out my hair, I would use a small amount of a cream based moisturizer. However it can be tricky maintaining a heated style without moisturizing your hair.

Thank you for this video. I love your science based approach. What if your cream moisturizer is water based but has oils in it? Is it necessary to add more protection?
