Very good tutorial. Have looked at a few tutorials on view range and so forth but this is easily the clearest particularly with the tricolor schematics really nailing it for me.

Many thanks 🙏🏽This was the clearest explainer for figuring out the view range. I’m new to Revit and my first project keeps stalling because there setting that prevent me from seeing what I’m working on. Most have been easy to figure out but this one made me want to tear my hair out. Now it’s a little clearer.

I just found this channel,great content and it's one of the better revit related channels!! I have a lot of videos to watch!! but by any chance could you show us the correct way to demonstrate a timber cut roof in revit,not just the roof creation tool,pick walls etc..I mean showing the actual rafters,wall plate etc?? not sure whether this should be done in 3d or would people just draw them up as 2d in the section..I'm sure 3d would be better,but not sure of the best approach. Anyway,thanks and keep up the good work!

Hi Steo, thanks for the kind words mate. Channel is still got a while to grow yet with loads of content to come, but each video and associate written tutorial takes a decent amount of time. Happy to do a tutorial on a cut roof construction on Revit for sure, but might be a few weeks before I get around to it 😅 it's now on the list, stay tuned and I'll fire you back a message here once it's uploaded so you can check it out. In the meantime, I would model the rafter construction, roof plate, purlins etc in Revit for certain so that I can correctly schedule the materials for quantity take offs. Regards Niall

Very nicely presented as always. Would love to see a coordinate system tutorial for Revit if you have experience with that abomination. 😀 And I need a donation address.

I will do this for sure one day soon. Biggest issue is getting site data ( that is not confidential) which can be used as a base - one that I have building models developed for so people can actually see the complete workflow. I know many people struggle with it though so keen to do a really detailed Video and Website article on it for everyone. Happy to setup some sort of donation portal if people would liek to support the content Leni. The common one is Patreon but I don't like the idea of setting a set value, it's almost like setting an expectation of the audience which would be last thing I would like to do. Generally just happy to help. IF demand for a support page arises I may set one up all the same :D I do have a PayPal which I use for Consulation Fees if you would like to support, but really do not expect it whatsoever. paypal.me/nk211988 As ever, thank you for your postive feedback Leni :)

thank you so much for the tutorial! I have a question that, in plan view, my window between "cut plane" and "top of the view" does not show up as you mentioned in the video, so I still need to use plan region to actually cut that window. Is there any extra setting to fix this?

Hello. I understand VR and I am clueless to how this will work when there are units step down beside each up to 450mm-900m?

Hi Niall, apologies only saw your comment now. I am not entirely sure what you mean but please note that you can locally change the view range of one part of a plan view by using the plan region tool. I have a video named "Revit Tutorial - Using Plan regions Correctly" which covers this.

View range the windows above the cut plane they must be shown as dashed lines. How to show the high windows in dashed lines (using plan region) per traditional drafting practice?

HI. Can you upload a video of view range setting for structural template
@8020BIM
@8020BIM 3 жыл бұрын
Hi there. I am not certain what you are looking for with your request. The view range settings are universal across disciplines, so the procedure outlined here is the same as it would be for a structural model. Is there something soecific that you are having issues with that I might be able to give you some direction on? Niall

@@8020BIM Thank you. In structure bottom and view depth is ok. But changing of Top value above cut plane not finding any changes in the drawings
@8020BIM

You need to increase the height of the cut plane as well to see the difference you are looking for. Adjust the cut plane to match the top plane and see if the presentation of the steucutela drawing updates. Let me know how you get on. Niall

@@8020BIM thanks. Let me try it. How ever cut plane level in structure usually 300mm . Cutting columns , concrete upstand , stair , etc. So increase cut plane height may face some issue. However I will look into that. If u find something, pls share it also
@8020BIM
@8020BIM 3 жыл бұрын
@@ssnanj8014 is it just something local to a specific area in the plan you are trying to see? You can use plan regions to locally alter the view range settings for one part of a plan without altering the entire plan. Go to the view tab, and under the Views drop down select plan region. Draw out the boundary of the view region where you need to illustrate a different view range setting and then select the boundary. In the properties tab you will be able to edit the local view range settings but the rest of the view will remain the same.
