Hello! thank you for the video. would you maybe know why, when I create the schedule, I don't get the parameters that you do? (the "material: mark" & "material: description" ). I was only able to find one called "structural material: description". please help! or if there is a separate video where you created the schedule that would be awesome to know. Thank you!

Hi - Which schedule type did you use? In the video, I use a "Material Take-off" which contains the parameters you are looking for. Have a look and if you still can't find it - send me an email and I will help you out. Thanks for asking the question.

Sergio, great video thanks. In the minute 6.45 where you present the end result: how do you create the wall type detail/cross section? Do you use Legends? Thanks in advance
@SergioBarata
@SergioBarata 2 ай бұрын
Hi, in this case, it's the actual wall, drawn in a "pre-phase" so that it doesn't impact the documentation.

@@SergioBarata Thanks, Sergio! How about the label under each wall type? When I do it with Legend I cannot customize the text of my label under each detail and schedule

@@guerripablo Legends are limited with tagging. This is why I use the pre-phase system. The whole work flow is demonstrated in this video. Try it out.

I have made my wall type schedules in a similar way but have encountered an issue with wall joins when the detail level is medium or fine. Wall layers appear not to join as one would expect due to small differences in material names. For example, when "13mm GYPSUM WALL BOARD" and "13mm GYPSUM WALL BOARD (TAPED AND FINISHED)" materials intersect, there is a line separating the materials even though they re for all intents and purposes the same material. Similar issues happen when dimensional lumber walls with 2 different sizes meet. How have you dealt with this issue?
@SergioBarata
@SergioBarata 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Alex, I know exactly what you mean - to fix this the materials assigned to both wall and layers need to be exactly the same. That removes the line. I have a follow up video in the pipe-line to highlight this. All the best and thanks for watching and commenting.

Hello, I read the comments, I have a question. Do you make the details of the walls in a different file? And if so, how would you store everything in a single file? greetings from Mexico

Hi, thanks for watching. No, it is all in the same file.

Well made video but is it just me or where do you get the graphics for the layers? I can create the tables etc but it is the section that is in the wall types that I want to show alongside the table.

I found the answer. It is located here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gGjaenygpZuBrMU which you create a legend and the legend components.

How do you create the wall detail (graphic) portion? Legend components don't allow dimensioning, so I guess you have a better way? Thank you!
@SergioBarata
@SergioBarata 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Kevin, Do you mean when place on a sheet? These are actual walls (not components) so each layer can be dimensioned normally. The wall segments are hosted in another view within the project file. I hope that helps.
@kevins6314
@kevins6314 2 жыл бұрын
@@SergioBarata That helps a lot, thank you. So, to be 100% sure I understand, you have these small walls drawn on a different level (and that level's floor plan) far away from the actual model and place that floor plan view on the sheet beside all the schedules?
@SergioBarata
@SergioBarata 2 жыл бұрын
@@kevins6314 actually, I add an additional phase in my template to host such things. This way it doesn’t interfere when scheduling.

@@SergioBarata One more question: how do you treat materials/elements that aren't a continuous wall layer (i.e. wood or steel framing with insulation in the cavities)?

A bit late to the party :x But if you use the same Material in a different flooring and its in a different position ( so the mark numbers doesnt fit anymore) Do you duplicate the material to fit the number? Does that not cause issues when naming the material because its cant have the same name. Like you got Insulation 5cm in the floor in the 3rd position and you now have the same insulation in a different position lets say 5 in the next one for whatever reasons. Now you cant call it insulation anymore but Insulation 1 or so right?

Thanks for the comment. Yes, what you describe has to be managed. I have a coding system that help manage this - I recommend you use something similar.

Hello! Thanks for your video, could you explain a bit more about how to get the R-Value? I already added the parameter to my material browser but now I don't know how it's used. What formula did you use in your material takeoff?
@popotita

I've also tried to create the schedule but I just get the materials a thousand times, how did you create the Wall Type A header?
@SergioBarata
@SergioBarata Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. I think it would help to re-watch chapter 5. Ensure you have all the fields as shown. You need to use the Rvalue parameter to create a calculated value. This will allow the Rvalue to be “multiplied”. In the filters tab of the schedule, set the type mark as a header by ticking the header box. Also, you will need a schedule for each wall type. Then use the schedule filter tools to remove the unwanted information. I hope this helps. I wish you all the best.

@@SergioBarata Hi again! Thanks for your response. I see you have a separate file for these walls, that's why it's not working on my end. I'm trying it inside my project and it repeats depending on the amount of walls I have. Could you redirect me to the video where you explain how to use it as a linked document please?
@SergioBarata
@SergioBarata Жыл бұрын
@@popotita so I recommend using a phase not using in the project. For example, I have a admin phase in my template which is not used on projects. That is where I model the walls for the schedule. You can schedule elements for linked files by ticking the “included linked files” checkbox. I hope this helps.
