Revitalized: A Fairchild PT-26A Cornell Flies Once Again

This is the First Flight of a Fairchild PT-26A Cornell after it has been once again restored for the second time. The beautiful aircraft was built in 1943 and unbelievably is still flying today. It has been from Cape Canaveral to Oshkosh to Anderson, Indiana. It was mainly used as a trainer back in its hay day. Enjoy!

they were a bit of a slow old dog but fun to see them fly again. I first found a Cornell in an abandoned hangar as a kid in the Interior of BC and played inside the cockpit for years. !

It may have been built as a PT 26, but without the full canopy and the heat exchanger exhaust system,it has effectively become a PT 19

The Pt.26 was built for the RCAF in WW2 due to the cold weather up there.

Are you sure? The PT 19 and PT 26 look pretty much alike. The only major differences are the canopy and the type of engine used.

I worked on this airplane, and it is indeed a PT-26 which was converted to an open canopy and thus really looks like a PT-19. Wonderful flying airplane!

I am starting a 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to redubbing all these aviation videos to remove music and have only airplane sounds: engines, tower and intercom chatter, voiceover describing performance specs and maneuvering advice, etc. Anyone care to contribute? VERY nice airplane, btw. Anybody want to build one? There's one for Only 6 grand in the southwest Kansas Craigslist in pieces as of July 26, 2016: swks.craigslist.org/for/5691033520.html "PT-26 airplane parts, lacking both mid-wings, has the wing cowlings, has 1 fuel tank, original wings available for samples, struts-chromed, complete engine, fuselage and all metal pieces primed, some instruments are re-built, complete history available. Bought parts and planned to rebuild plane, but did not accomplish this due to circumstances. Will also sell for scrap." That last sentence sounds like a threat.
