@@KincadePavich I highly request this video, im currently looking for a trail bike and a project bike . I’ve been watching your videos along with some others, trying to educate myself on how to work on bikes. Myself and Im sure many more would highly appreciate a video talking about what to look for when shopping for used bikes . I’ve seemed to find a lot for a good price that say they run good but how do I know I’m not gonna run into issues like these such as previous mechanics making non beneficial add ons/repairs. Great videos keep it up!!

Pro tip, when resurfacing a cylinder try to go in an infinity symbol type pattern to avoid shaving too much off from one side, as you’ll find your fingers might weigh down one side more than the other. Also, make sure to regularly clean your sand paper, the shavings can build up and glaze the surface, reducing the bite on the gasket. Love the rebuild, not to much or to little!

We've had a few '02 KX's. That year is really the best of all from '97-'06 - best motor character for sure. A "must do" however, is to put '03 triple clamps on it. Makes it a whole new bike that can actually turn with the front. A friend who was a race mechanic gave us all the goods on making KX's haul, so we implemented a few of his suggestions with great results...

Hi, Use 1/4" to 3/8" green tempered shelf glass. Make sure is is on a perfectly flat surface. I use an old counter top. You need copper jaws on your vice. I'll make a pair for you. I have that (20) vice/s..Great job on the rebuilds. I'm 62, Hobby machinist. I'm looking for a Cr250r late model. I had 3 and sold all of them, back in the day. Urrgh! Serb or croat? Redbud is our track.

If you ever have to cut a sleeve or even a bearing off, cut it with a die grinder but don’t go all the way through, then take a cold chisel to your cut and it’ll usually split along that cut and won’t damage the shaft, I use this all the time at work.

Bro, i had a 96 xr600r that was street legal when i bought it in 2015, and 90% of the spokes wouldnt tighten or loosen. I was broke at the time so i just rode it anyway. The rear wheel ended up exploding, cracking the wheel and luckily i was only going about 10mph in a turn. Lowsided and even with jeans on my entire shin was skinless! Always check old wheels and spokes!!!!

iCat spark enhancer is what the component installed in line was. We used them on my 85’s back in the day and it would make the spark plug so hot it would embed the electrode into the top of the piston. Not from hitting it but from heat alone

Must be satisfying to do this. Makes me want to get an old 2 banger and take my sweet time over it. If I can even break even on a sale, I'd be happy. I used to be a welder and metal finisher/polisher so, I have a few skills to call on and friends that still work there could come in useful lol. Even have a powder coating oven that could do frames with. Maybe one day..... The ONE thing I don't like or rather, like less, is the black rims on modern bikes. Prefer gold or bronze personally or silver. Gunmetal would look cool.

This was an amazing project, great video. The only thing I don't get is why you didn't strip and pain the frame, you said it wasn't a priority, but it really wouldn't have added much to the significant amount of detailing you did, and definitely would've popped. Nevertheless, sweet bike man, great work!
@KincadePavich

Stripping a frame by hand with factory paint is nearly impossible to do right. I can't fit a frame in my cabinet. So I'd have had to pay someone a couple hundred bucks to blast it, set me back another few weeks, etc. Just was not high priority on this project. But I totally understand why everyone wishes I did haha.
