I feel like Toph needed to switch his game up after game 2. He was going for shield pressure and shine spike opportunities throughout the entire set and ended up missing a lot of grab opportunities.

He also got a lot of mileage from shine OOS and Usmash OOS. Stric started getting hit by that less and executed better later in the set.

Yep after that second shine spike in game 3 Toph basically stopped getting any punishes at all on stryc. He kept trying to tech chase and cover rolls the same way and failed and didn't adapt for some reason. Strycnine did falco stuff since he wasn't getting punished.

This was in response to Toph and Stric going HAM with technical skill. Fox and Falco are sometimes referred to as "Buttons - The Character" It's also a fairly old term in the FGC, especially jfighters.
