This is why Hanukkah is important, and why Yeshua made a public announcement during this time. The Jewish people had almost totally become Hellenized. Except for a small sect led by the Maccabees, the line of David would have eventually become totally unrecognizable. We need to be thankful for this time. No Maccabees, then no Judah, and the line of David ends. No line of David, no more line of Messiah. No Line of Messiah, then no Messiah. No Messiah, and we are still lost in our sins. The way Hanukkah evolved into the modern day event we have now was a satanic attempt to keep the Jewish people focused on senseless stuff and to keep them from knowing their Messiah.

Thanks I really liked the focus of this message and exposure of the garbage and the real content. I wonder what they actually did for the Feast of Dedication at the time of Christ, perhaps not eat donuts?

There is no such thing as year 0. It goes from 1 BC to 1AD.

You are right when you say that Yeshua did not celebrate Hanukka (in John 10: 22-23), but I think there is no link at all between Yeshua's birth and Hanukka and Xmas times ! Hanukka is just a civil jewish feast and Xmas a very pagan feast, do not you think ? Shalom.Jacquy Mengal

+Jacquy Mengal He at least observed it, went to the Temple during it's celibration. And....used the occasion to declare Himself the waited Messiah.

+Elena Hartrick There is no evidence that He had celebrated Hanukka when He was walking in the Temple's area. Yeshua often went to the Temple to teach people, because He was a Rabbi ! (Mat. 26: 55). But I do not say this is a sin to celebrate Hanukka. This is just a no biblical feast, but a Jewish feast. Shalom.

It seems to me that for the most part, the only time Yeshua was in Jerusalem was during the festivals and important times such as Hanukkah. Yeshua recognized the importance of the feast of dedication, although he knew the temple had become corrupt again.
