Reviving a Kindle 3rd gen (keyboard), model number D00901

So I got a Kindle 3rd gen (keyboard), model number D00901, that refused to charge or turn on.
I tinkered a bit and finally brought it back to life. It was a fun DIY project. I only thought of documenting the repair after I got it back to life, so there are photos missing from the steps inbetween, but I explained whole the process.
Usually these old devices are pretty sturdy, and I was sure something could be done to save it. Chances are you're here because you might be in a similar bind. Google offered me little help, so passing on the knowledge. Good luck fixing yours ;)

friend! you are wonderful!! I've been trying to revive my Kindle for months. It had exactly the same characteristics you describe. The problem I have is that after cleaning the contacts, I can't put the tab in its place. How did you make them?

I cleaned the contacts and placed it back. It was very delicate and while trying to place the plastic cap, the wires sprang away. I looked for them on the floor for 10 minutes. Luckily I don't have carpets so in the end I found them. It took watchmaking skills to place them back and put the plastic cap back on...

@@OctavianDunare When I removed the plastic cover, the switch also tripped. So I don't know if the copper legs go between the contact or on it. What an exercise in patience awaits me 😵‍💫. But the important thing is that thanks to you, the kindle revived. Thanks a lot, man!! 🙏🏻

@@osquitarcas between. The copper legs short up, between themselves. They should roll on the contacts below. One of them is slightly bent so it only makes contact when you slide it to one side.
