Reviving an Abandoned Yamaha RX-460 Receiver Amplifier

I recently moved house and stumbled upon a dusty gem: a Yamaha RX-460 from 1993, accompanied by a CD changer! I would have loved one of these back in the day. Join me on this adventure as we breathe new life into this vintage beauty!

I worked at a HiFi shop in Austin, TX when this receiver and CD carousel were introduced and current. Killer combo that we sold a ton of, especially with some nice higher efficiency speakers (like Klipsch or Boston Acoustic). GREAT FIND and not at all surprised this receiver is still alive and kicking.

Nice video. You might want to replace that gold Elna cap. Ive serviced quite a few 460s.and they're always bad. I think the CD has a similar cap as well.

With vintage receivers, unless I see pre-outs on the back it aint worth it to me either. That being said, I'd LOVE to have an all matching vintage Yammie rig! Nice preamp/power amp combo with sufficient juice for a pair of NS1000's, id be in hog heaven : D

One of my 3 Yammy amps is it's slightly bigger brother the AX-550, great amp that's waiting for me to give it a full service, the input selector is hit and miss on all the inputs. The remote of my 2001 AX-596 works on the 550 no problem.
