Reviving My Gerbera Plant, Plus Repotting

My Gerbera hasn't been doing well and with a recent thrip infestation its lost most of its leaves. In this video I remove all of its dead leaves and investigate its root system. I discover its been planted far too deeply in the past, covering the crown and causing issues such as rot. So I repot the Gerbera into better free draining compost and raise the level of the plants crown to ensure it has a good air flow and won't rot.

I just copied your lead. Mine had succumbed to root rot. So the only difference is that I did not add new soil or fertilizer. But now the rotted roots have been cleared anf the roots are exposed to air. There was a surprisingly deep root system. Now that it is fall though I'll be happily surprised if anything grows back. For now I no leaves at all. A pot of earth with the upper exposed roots (what's left of plant. Also, I had not known thaty they come wrapped in felt so I cleared away the rotted bit of felt that I found on mine but it wasn't much.

I had exactly the same, my Gerbera rotted from the middle, and I now I think the crown was buried to deep, unfortunately I threw it away, great video I hope your goes on to produce some flowers.

You most likely over watered it.

Mine has grey/black shades on leaves. Even on new ones. New leaves dry up and due before they grow their full size. I sprayed contact fungicide and also mixed it with water and then added it to soil. No much improvement. 😢

I just bought a brand new gerbera only to find it badly wilted the next day. Also the flowers. So sprayed with washing liquid mixed with some aphid spray. 60ml of washing liquid to 5 litres of water. Will that work?

I just cant support channels like this. Too many videos that are not educational "what if" scenarios. Had you took the time to show us a better result weeks (or a month) later then it would have been helpful. Gerbera dont like to be relocated at all and I assume this was a failure.

I bought 6 gerberas from a greenhouse the soil was just coco peat moss peat 0 nutimrients so i made my own potting mix soil i use cocopeat, perlite, peat moss, vermicompost and compost. I can tell they like bc the are bloomig like crazy i also repot 3 of them, i didnt had any problem relocate them.

It continued to suffer for a while with thrips and aphids, but its growing lots of new leaves now and even its first flower bud of the year. I'll do an update in a few weeks when it flowers.

You need to soak the roots, fertilize and transplant to a larger pot and add new potting soil.
