2021 Mercedes Sprinter 2500 Review: Cargo Van Life

When the 2021 Mercedes Sprinter 2500 showed up to my house, I thought I had an Amazon package being delivered. It was in the brilliant blue color which is similar to Amazon’s blue. I then realized why the cargo van wasn’t parked in the usual driveway spot. When I attempted to park it, I had about 2-feet of overhang. I did have the longer 170” wheelbase configuration, but there is an extended version to the one I had. Picking my son up from school was pretty entertaining as no one questioned where I parked it since they thought I was delivering packages! I even got a wave from another Amazon driver till he realized mine was a Mercedes compared to his Ram model.
With this being the cargo trim, this was only a 2-seater with the rest being for storage. It also had no windows for the back area to avoid any wondering eyes on any cargo you may be carrying. I would personally go with the crew van model which adds an additional 3-seat bench and then the rest is open to cargo space.
Inside, the Sprinter had extremely comfortable seats. This model had the leatherette option but didn’t have the turning or seat suspension options. The 8” infotainment did have a wired Apple CarPlay system. If this is for personal use, I’d recommend going with the larger 10” screen to make viewing things easier. The camera systems were actually incredibly clear and helpful to get the Sprinter parked in the tightest of spots.
The 3.0L V6 turbo diesel was extremely good at accelerating from a stop. This Sprinter was only rear-wheel drive but there is a 4x4 option available. If you’re planning on taking your Sprinter off-road, you’ll want to opt for that.
At the end of my week with the Sprinter, my family was wanting to research getting one to be part of the van life and go out on adventures.
