Revoicer is TTS (text to speech) software that can generate mp3 files from text input. You get lots of different voices across many different languages. I have a question maybe you can help me with. I have three books that I wrote in word, then converted them to a PDF file (they are from 210 pages to around 300 pages). I am primarily interested in a program that will let me paste these files (one book at a time), select a natural speaking voice, then convert them to an mp3 file for my own listening pleasure. I've tried Natural Readers and thought it was going to work until I got around page 67 on the first book when suddenly the male voice I had chosen turned into a female voice for some unknown reason. Also, they only allowed 1 million "characters" to convert per month. I don't want to pay a monthly fee or $250 for unlimited use when I will ONLY be using for these three books of mine. What program would you suggest?

@@rromano158 My experience is Revoicer is good for the money and one time fee. I don't know of anything that can take a PDF and then output TTS (not that you've asked me for that). Revoicer does have a 30 day money back guarantee, should you buy it and find it isn't suitable

@@iliasluursema2813 yeah I have just got it I think for the one-time fee it is useful enough. Though the monthly limit was never mentioned even in the fine print (I went back and checked) before purchase. Some of those voices are quite good without the pro. Some of the pro voices even their "main pro voices with giggles" don't sound that good. So pro has its use case but not worth it for me. Happy with my one time fee One thing else not mentioned is you require to get Pro for "corporate use". Though they say you can use it for your monetized content in another section. I am finding out what that is and if it means I can't use it for my pro videos I'm getting my money back They sort of explained that as "so you can re-sell the voice overs" Which doesn't make sense to me because I'm going to be creating pro videos for my clients it will include the voice over and therefore am I in breach of selling the voiceover? How is that controlled ? (Or fair?)

@@iliasluursema2813 also I forgot to mention there is a "sample" button you can hear the first 10 words of your input read out in the voice to test before you "commit to generating the full audio" Though it still deducts from your monthly allowance of words. So you might as well "generate" every time. At least you have access to download it if it's good. If not then you have wasted your character count.

Hello hello again Found out some more info. This is that last time I'll bother you because I've answered all my own questions now. Talking with customer support On basic plan 1. You can monetize your KZbin videos 2. You can create advertising for your OWN company/wares/services 3. Any other personal video use is fine. 4. You CANNOT (legally) create voiceovers for clients e.g. if you are making ads you cannot make an ad for another company. And you cannot create a product that they pay any form of money for. 5. PRO licence requires to do any voiceovers for clients. 6. Unrelated note / when buying standby you were promised 80 voices. But this includes all the languages so in english you may find only 1 up to about 6 across the different English accents. Not all voices are "neural voices" only a few. Not to say the others are bad but limited in their range.

Nice video. I have used Speechelo for about a year and Revoicer seems to be better when it comes to voices...apart from the bugs in voiceover creation lol. The people behind Revoicer also seem to be a bit more transparent than the Speechelo guys. But I still couldn't find any info on how many words per month you get with the normal version or how many words/characters a single voiceover creation can contain.

With the normal version you can use up to 600000 characters per month. I cannot find a way to see the max character/word count per voice session. I suspect you'll only know it when you hit it.

Revoicer and Speechelo websites seem to be suffering from scammy-undelete-software syndrome, using the same UI components on their websites and the same marketing terminology. I'm not at all convinced that they're offered by different people.

@@Big-GVideo interesting. With Speechelo Pro you get 700.000 characters per month - provided this has remained unchanged since I finally got rid of the subscription (47$ every 3 months). They really try to prevent you from getting out. This actually might be more than just "bordering a scam" since quite some people claim they got billed even after cancelling. In my case it was solved since my credit card expired and I didn't bother to change the payment method...so they cancelled it themselves ;-).

@@freetimefilms this actually could make sense. Revoicer might just be a hidden Speechelo upgrade. Some of the voices definitely are the same. Eg. the German Revoicer voice "Lotte" is the same as "Lina" from Spechelo. I'm also pretty sure I recognized a female French voice from Spechelo. And now that I had another look, I'm also pretty sure about Revoicer's English US voices "Caleb" and "Ricky Kid"... I always wondered about the oddity that I couldn't find any hints that Spechelo is developed any further. Revoicer might be Spechelo 2.0. It's definitely better and got more voices.

I guess you have to shop around for these type of things and look on different pages (the first offer you see may not be the best). Its alarming to hear that people are having issues cancelling the pro. Thanks for raising this.

I got it today. The "good stuff" is not that good. The stuff you get with initial package is fine. Just don't get the pro package. The things I find weird though is 1. you can't change your password. 2. no mention of the monthly limit before purchase. 3. Previewing your clips before download i.e. it only plays the first 10 words also deducts from the monthly limit which feels unfair.

Revoicer looks really interesting. Some of their voices do sound a little "robotic". Some don't. It's clearly usable, and yes, a lot less than professional voice talent would cost. However, they don't sound "fully alive" and authentic. They're not bad. And a not-so-attention-paying audience might not realize or care. And you save money. But at this moment I don't think they compete with a good voice actor who can "live" the words and ideas. Also their terms seem a little creepy to me. Why no free demo? Why can I only try it if I pay first? It'd be fine if download was disabled or they inserted noise or something to keep samplers from ripping them off. But "you can't try it, see how it works, or get a sense of the results" unless you give us money first makes me uncomfortable. With pro voice talent where, again, you will pay more, you can have many actors reading a sample your actual copy and get a very strong sense of whose performance feels the way you want it to feel. I'm tempted to give it a try since it's potentially so much less than pro talent. But the slightly robotic, or more like "not quite alive and feeling the text" voices combined with the "you can't try anything without paying first" make me hesitant.

I'm due to do a review (and a versus/comparison) video for Spechello (and ReVoicer Vs Spechello) soon. You're right that they can sound robotic. I used TTS software for a specific part of my podcasts, but I tend to do the voice over myself. My comment comes 11 days after yours, and 14 days after this video was uploaded. I found this video by Googling for Revoicer reviews after seeing their sponsored post on Facebook, which led me to a page that said I had 12 hours to pay a one-time fee of $67 for their product. Major red flag there. I opened the page in another browser, then a third, and the countdown started at exactly 12 hours both times, which shows that there is no actual time period for this so-called "special offer," and it's just a pressure tactic to get people to pay them on a whim. Their time-sensitive pressure tactics, claiming someone only has 12 hours to pay the same amount Big G Video paid 2 weeks ago, is absolutely shady enough for me to not give them any of my money, even though $67 won't break me, because I can't trust any product or company that uses such dishonest marketing practices.

@@LesignerGirl That's correct the timer is there to pressure and if you reloaded the page or revisited it then it would reset. I do lots of software reviews where companies use this tactic.

However, since so many businesses do this, IDK if you can single out Revoicer or any one business as shady. Flickr's old policy was "a free terabyte of photo storage for life". Then Flickr changed their policy to "1,000 free images only." I have way less than 1 TB, but more than 1,000 images so now they constantly send me messages "Your account is in violation of Flickr TOS". It sounds like I committed some criminal act. In fact, I did nothing. Flickr just "moved the goal posts" so that my previous well-below-the-limit account can now be on the other side of the line they moved for their own convenience and can now send me a flurry of "Violator" messages. It's a pretty shitty practice. But again, it's the corporate environment we live in. I live in a country (United States) whose government has, for generations, focused 100% on corporate profits and 0% on consumer protection. Our current president spent 36 years in the US Senate robbing from the middle class to enrich banks. They used to refer to him as "The Senator from MBNA". I feel your anger @LesignerGirl, but don't know what to do with it when abusive marketing is the norm for all businesses.

I review lots of these softwares that are sold in this way. Revoicer are better than most in this type of sales model, but yes there's no trial and there is an element of hard sell. This is one of the reasons why I did a review of this product. I hope the video gave you the insight you needed

Yes. I got the standard version, and checked out the pro voice samples. A lot of those are Amazon Poly. Nice voices, but Talkia and Speechelo also use them. So it seems a few of these speech programs are counting on people not figuring this out.

@@Big-GVideo there are never trails/demos in products like this as customers will hear the voices that are provided with the basic package before making a purchase and hear beforehand that the voices supplied in the basic package are not really usable. Yes, they offer a money back, but why not let users 'try before buying'. There are better options available that are much better. In the end, I ended up using one from Eleven Labs because they do have a demo to try.

@@Big-GVideo the buy and refund model benefits the seller as most will get bored with the product after the refund period is over, and so they are either stuck with a product they don’t use or forced to upgrade. I have researched a few of these text to speech products and did come across one that did offer a demo and once i tried it I was happy. No uplift, no withholding the best voices for the subscription only but an honest website that let you see/hear before you buy. Maybe you can give it a try/review. Eleven Labs is the product.

Thanks for the review. I did sign up for the one-time fee and found some voices that sounded quite realistic. Unfortunately, I could also hear compression artifacts in their MP3 Files. Boggles my mind that a company would develop such a great product but then drop the ball on delivery! I checked with support and they said that because they store the files for a year, it would not be economical to export to WAV files. This apparently is true even for the Pro Version. I doubt that I will upgrade until they change this policy. How could you offer a client mp3 files with compression artifacts??

From a review I read on TrustPilot, the non-Pro version does not allow for commercial use. For me, this is a deal breaker. (Revoicer did response confirming their is a commercial use clause, but didn't clarify.)

I'm looking forward to your review of Speechelo - I tried the regular and found it ok but limited with the number of voices. (I make shadow puppet theatre kits so I'm doing videos of fairy tales and it would help to have more voices and the ability to give it more emphasis like excited or serious. So I later upgraded to professional but I notice it charges me $52 US every 3 months, there are a few more voices but not sure if its really worth it. I don't particularly their interface - when you check in the account section - you have no information on what you really have how much its going to cost you and for how long. I'd prefer a one time fee system, I don't care if the number of characters are limited per month.

There is no mention of a commercial licence, but they do cite KZbin videos, tv commercials and podcasts as use cases. So I would be surprised if they advertised based on use in KZbin videos and then claimed you breached copyright

It does say you can use for KZbin, but doesn't go as far as stating that you have a commercial licence. so you could get into trouble. How someone would know that the voice came from Revoicer is another matter

Speechelo was a huge disappointment., they kept touting that it was only $27 from $97 but the voice selections were limited to like 8 voices and if I wanted more I'd have to add to the plan I have, about $100 extra. I call that bait and switch.

I tried Revoicer, not worth it in my opinion.. the one time fee gets you the basic version.. this should be a free version.. or that fee should be lower.. I tried to work with what they gave me.. I was still drawn in to the fact I could use different tones for dialog.. but it wouldn't let me generate it with the different tones. which was the whole reason I wanted it... it was a waste.. don't get it.

@@Big-GVideo I know, I used the American voice that had tones, but when I wanted to generate it I got some "Voice Failed to Generate" Error. it only worked when all tones were on normal.. wasted so many of my characters limit trying to get it to work with the tones I wanted but I kept getting the same error.

Firstly, thank you Big G for the review. It was very helpful. I was very put off by the fact that not all of the voices had Tones. This variety is what sold me on the product and I find this to be very deceitful. As a matter of fact, most of the 160+ voices that you purchase on the Pro Version do not have the Tone option.... Also, there is not a whole lot of customization to the voice acting. By the way, the Preview option also costs Character Points ? Really ??? That makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Lastly, the bugs for a paid software (67 + 127 yearly sub) like this it completely unacceptable. I will say that in the Pro version, the merge worked and so far, I did not experience that "plus" whatever garbage it was adding to the beginning of the audio clip, so many they fixed that. Regardless, wish I would have seen this review before making the purchase. I would have never bought it.....

Hi, it's not a problem. Revoicer does have Czech. It has 2 voices one male and one female. The male is a pro voice though, so you'd need to upgrade to get this

Hi. Kayla is available on the standard version (no pro upgrade required) and she has lots of different voice tones (10 in addition to normal). Examples are angry, whispering etc. Hope that helps

Revoicer has character limits, so you may struggle to get the whole book done in a month. While other softwares show you how many characters you left for a sing;e speech generation (say 2000 characters) revoicer doesn't. So you may have to do the conversion in many go's (and manualyy too). There's no import feature from PDF, you'd have to do many copy and pastes

Do I have the copyright only until I subscribe to them (for example, for a period of 3 months, 6 months ..... ) or do I also have the right to use this voice when I do not subscribe to them and continue to use the voice generated by their app on my KZbin videos? In other words, do I have copyright only until I have a subscription?

Really interesting question. As the voices between providers are the same or similar it would be difficult for a tts provider to find videos that were created using their product. Typically stock sites allow you to use their items on a perpetual basis, but it ultimately comes down to the contract agreed. I’ve looked at the t&cs for revoicer (revoicer.com/terms) and it doesn’t give any mention of use.

Be mindful when use Revoicer!! When you process the text to voice it will fail. It will only play a couple second of your script and force you to re-process (which uses up your monthly character allowance). It is a very frustrating issue. It does not affect all the voices, but a select few of the good ones will bug out with incomplete processing.

I'm not sure what's going on with your account, but to add music you first have to generate the speech. Only when you have speech, can you add music. So I'm puzzled as to how your speech generates with background music? I can confirm that when I just tested speech generation, no background music was present.

I don't see why it cause any issues. I'ved used similar products and had no repercussions. There isn't any mention in the T&Cs that I looked at the forbidden using for monetisation. They also cite KZbin videos as a usecase on their website

Thats one of the things they mention on their site that you are allowed to do. "Can I monetize my youtube videos" and it has a reply in the positive -yes. However there is also mention of the corporate license so I am trying to enquire what that is i.e. can I create client videos with it
