I can understand the price, it's not like they can produce the car in the masses. They decide to take precise build brand new, with materials and investment on the craftsmanship to get the desired results for the customer, not to mention with current modern tech configured in a a 60 year old car, not easy to do. So far this is the only company I've heard they make these cars brand new off their place. I love these cars because they have modern configurations, definitely on my bucket list.

It's a modern hot rod same as a Fiberglass 32 Ford body on a new suspension with a LS motor. It's not a Shelby anything. C. Shelby was a road racer as were his early cars not a compromise of confort vs ability to go around a corner fast. They didn't need huge Horse power numbers because they were light weight. The current Mustang is a Mustang and about 100x better than the original. The original was a Ford Falcon with a different body and a V8. The current car has it's own chassis and motor - a much, much better automobile. BTW - the first Mustang I drove regularly was a 1965 starting in February of 1965 so I'm quite familiar with the car.

I enjoyed listening to this and don’t think many people could take an original car, improve it greatly, and keep it as original as possible within reason. To me, this is the same as buying an old house in the style that you like, but having modern plumbing, electricity, and features like a jacuzzi, walk in showers and closets, entertainment center, better insulation, efficient and storm proof windows, brick grill, cabana. Of course it’s not going to be inexpensive and cheap. Some will think it’s waste of money and others will think you are paying for quality craftsmanship. I like what Revology and Singer cars (Porsche) in California is doing for car restoration. They take fantastic cars and update them as if they had modern technology, 50 years ago. Great job.

It amazes me how ugly, lackluster, week, and lifeless modern cars are. I do not know how automotive companies stay in business. I guess bailouts taught the modern car companies nothing except they do not have be held responsible for an inferior product. The Mustang in the video is gorgeous. Today, well, I guess today cars make more fuel efficency. But there is way more to a car than fuel efficency. Modern car designers seem to have tragically forgotten this.

@indridcold8433
@indridcold8433 4 жыл бұрын
@@mikebri5274 The crappy anemic engines are likely the government regulations of various nations. But something really can be done about the hideous looks of the junk that is out today without putting much of any effect on crash tests, exhaust regulations, and fuel economy. We are likely stuck with the crap engines we have for a while. Just two days ago a Malibu with a destroyed engine came in with only 51,000 miles on it. The turbo is just too much for the tiny engines. The high pressures are bad for these thin walled, four cyclinder cart engines. It is amazing how many los mileage cars we have been getting into the shop the last eight years or so. It is not small things they come in having trouble. It is catastrophic engine damage, destroyed transmissions, and burnt electronics. Of course, none of this has to do with the hideous looks cars have today. But the problems are more than skin deep. The cars today are horrible. I guess it is good for business for me. But ten years ago, cars came in with major failures only above 200,000 miles. Most cars today will not make it to 120,000.

@indridcold8433
@indridcold8433 4 жыл бұрын
For us gear heads, that is the way to go. But for the people that pay others to do everything for them and have trouble toasting their own bread, they get these restomods. But they are going to pay a lot for them. That is the price people pay for more money than brains. I have seen this in many aspects of life. I saw a guy trade in his fully paid Crown Victoria that he just paid in full because the said it took too much gas. He told me it was costing him 250 a month. He traded that beautiful, fully paid, Crown Victoria for a hideous little economy egg Toyota Yaris. When I asked him how much he was paying a month he told me he got a bargain and was paying only $435 a month. What an idiot. On top of that he has to pay full coverage on a new car, excise tax for a new car, registration for a new car, and still has to pay a fuel cost. That idiot had more money than brain.

If you can do better, can afford to take 6 months of your life off, and have a facility with a lift, fabrication equipment, an industrial sewing machine, and a paint booth, source all of the parts, materials, electrical, tools, and spray guns, then by all means, go right ahead. The rest of us will be happy to criticize your results, ad nauseum.
@indridcold8433
@indridcold8433 4 жыл бұрын
@@bryanhallman8183 I built my own. It is likely considered very ungainly and too unfamiliar to be appreciated by anybody but me. However, it did start its existence as a standard production vehicle. Only the transmission remains completely stock. Even the spark control computer has been flashed to nonstandard settings. I had a keyless ignition with a transponder card long before it was implemented in a production vehicle. My lighting was changed to LED long before it was in standard production also. I would often get comments on it. The engine has a custom intake system. The entire dashboard and controls are all custom wired. The doors do not have power windows nor a crank. The body still somewhat reflects what the standard production model looked like but almost all of it except the main body has been changed. Axle ratios, suspension, engine cooling, rear brakes, lighting controls, radio, dashboard, seats, carpet, tyre size, bumpers, top, windows, exhaust system, and much more have been changed to something I created or to an aftermarket part I wanted. The transmission is the only thing stock and it is starting to fail. I have plans for exaclty the transmission I want to install in it. But as you mentioned, others will critisize it add nauseum because it is so unconventional and rather antiquated looking. But she has become a friend to me and it is likely we will never be apart. I wonder if the engineers that design the modern hideous automotive atrocities feel as if what they designed has become a friend to them or not. Perhaps this may be why there is such a grotesque similarity from model to model today, the engineers fell in love with a certain design. Maybe to the engineer the lackluster, bland, ugly, weak, designs are really quite beautiful to them.

@@indridcold8433 Thanks for your response. I can fully appreciate how hard it is to build, or restore a car from the ground up. My comment was directed at Hugo, whom I don't think can understand, that not everyone has the level of expertise, time, or the space requirements to undertake building a complete car from scratch. R3 is willing to sell a fastback or a convertible, 65-70, with a suspension for $32K. You still have to come up fenders, hood, and trunk, supply a drivetrain, wheels and tires, interior, electrical, gas tank, and basically everything to complete the process. Now, you've done that, and that's awesome, but, you and I are in very different situations. I would have to pay a garage to rent space to work on it, buy all the tools, welders, lift, materials, fasteners, odds and ends, and frankly, I can't do that. If you can't knock Porsche, Mercedes, Ferrari or Lamborghini for what they charge, how the hell can you then sit back and knock these guys, for building cars that are on that same level? It just doesn't make a whole lotta sense to me.

I think he's overestimating how "annoying" a few squeaks and bumps are. I drove a 66 GT fastback for years and never had any issues with random squeaks. Maybe my car was just better taken care of. Anyway, most Mustang fans aren't going to pay a $100k premium just so they can fly through potholes...

I love these early Mustangs. Every year after the first release in late 1964 they gained weight and bulk just like Americans have. I had a Mustang,a Camaro, three GTO's, an El Camino, two Corvettes, and an SS Nova during my younger years. My only pet peeve with Detroit muscle cars was the ugly, stupid and completely dumb vinyl tops. Jeez I always thought they ruined the great lines on these old cars. The other thing I absolutely detest are automatic transmissions in muscle cars. I see these beautiful restored cars and only rarely do they have manual transmissions in them. Are we that bloody lazy?

@@rearview2709 While I am used to seeing 3 speed and 4 speed slush boxes in older muscle cars, it wasn`t until dual clutch automatics came into being in the last number of years for racing and street performance cars that they have been looked at with the "cool" factor. Having said that I have never seen anyone owning late 1960`s GT 350`s or original Cobra`s with automatics.Though I am certain some guys bought them for their wives who did not know how to shift. A real manual transmission is still way cooler than an automatic anyday.

@@dr.hugog.hackenbush9443 Yes, thanks. that sounds fantastic...I am pretty old school and the day will come and already has for Millenials that most cannot operate a manual or even change a car tire. My four sons learned to drive when they were 12 to 13 years old on manual GTO`s I owned. They owned manual BMW M3s, M4`s and M5`s.[One has a DeLorean] Now they are shifting to Teslas one by one so that ship is sailing away,lol. Very few if any new cars have manuals, and though the autos are faster shifting,for 99.99% of the time the manual sounds so much cooler as you run through the gears on a sunny day.

@@studebricker2845 These cars aren't is "good" chape, they are in flawless shape with modern everything, an expensive paint job and one-off wheels, and with a history of innovation by this company and everything is flawlessly integrated and proven. Now, granted, not every gearhead isn't interested in a car with this much engineering and modern technology, for sure, but to think that a car built without the aforementioned upmarket goodies. That works for me, but, for those who want what they want, this car is pretty much perfection. If every gearhead wanted what you guys want, then Chip Foose, The Martin Bros., Dave Kendig, and the many other custom builders would be in a different business. It isn't just about you guys. Not everyone that wants their dream car can build one in their garage.

However I also have a few classic cars including a 65 fastback and couldn’t imagine not hearing and feeling the raw power of my petro cars. Working on these cars is just as much fun as driving them. What would a person do with an electric car? You can’t wrench on them. They are part of history and part of the allure of owning them is working on them. By the way I have made more money percentage wise by buying and selling classic car than I have ever made in the stock market and I’v done well there are well. The bottom is NOT falling on classic cars. Where are you getting your information from?
