Well most country take copies of your ID and submit it online on the government's websites. They've been doing it for ages. In Italy, France, Germany, Austria, Portugal, Greece, The Netherlands and Belgium. They've been doing this for ages, they are required by law to submit your documentation for tax purposes and also for national security monitoring.

I have already decided not to come back to Majorca due to the locals being very rude, and now with this new system of storing your personal details that’s just cemented my decision, I’m 55yrs old and been going to Majorca every year since a very young age, I’m more than sure that majorca / Spain will become the worlds worst tourist go to place and will loose a lot of revenue in the future, it’s a shame but the government deserve everything that coming, no tourist revenue = very poor Spain

These rules will apply in the whole of the EU. We decided to remove ourselves. The UK wanted even more strict rules when we were still in it. This is what you want. Your criminal history will also be checked going back 25 years. Where are you going on holiday if Europe is out. America? Similar rules. We decided to become a third country. It is not the fault of the EU and "those foreigners". Holiday in the uK where prices are very reasonable and staff are delighted to welcome you, not forgetting the huge amount of sunshine.

@@johnmchugh4655 No they won't, once they realise that the hotels will be closing (thus displacing loads of people's jobs) and all the shops that are closed because they won't be any tourists (like the Covid year) they won't be very happy bunnies, they'll have to go back to working on fishing fleets, bit like the oil protesters, if you go round their houses you will probably find they have got something made with machinery (driven by an oil product), be a television a fan their shoes, always something made with what they're protesting about, the anti-tourist people basically need as was said to protest about the people who buy houses there not us tourists.

This practically already happens I run 2 Airbnbs in Murcia you have to take passport or national Id info and input the details with the Gardia which they keep for 3 years. You comunícate over mobile’s and have to book with a credit card. This has been like this for years… People really do get outraged over silly stuff.

It used to be that some bars would hold onto credit cards until payment at the end. I would say it goes against bank advice to hand over a credit card to be stored at the back of a bar and would go to another pub. I am lucky that as a resident, these rules don't apply to me, but many hotels take on temporary staff in the summer and a few are not honest. What an opportunity for card cloning plus the chaos when 50 guests arrive at once. Next year could be problematic for many hotels.

- you completely misunderstand what "those locals" were saying. If no tourists return to Mallorca, or any other part of Spain, there will be no economic crash. The tourist business is now mostly foreign owned anyway, and the staff working in hotel & bars are mostly foreign also. "Those locals" are trying to build up an economy that's sustainable and offers something to young people, instead of serving drinks to drunks.....

I have only once taken my credit card on holiday with me. I left it in the safe at a well known hotel in a chain in Benidorm in March 2024. A few weeks later over £700 was spent on my credit card. I do not think this was a coincedence.

Is a dread for visiting next with the new entry system at the border now this hotel check. We visit Puerto Pollensa and like to stay in a villa but with all the break ins this summer we’re worried about staying in one. Unfortunately Mallorca isn’t looking appealing. We will probably still come next summer but if it is a ball ache definitely will reconsider. For the CC check wonder if you can use a single use Revolut card?

I'll never hand over my details. I'm glad it has been put back until December. We are already going to be paying £650 odd on top of our holiday yo take the kids out of school because they moved the holiday dates. We have been a family for 14 years and this is our 1st family holiday abroad. What is this world coming too. I would have thought the incoming entry/exit system would be enough for security/ terrorist reasons. This will destroy travel and tourism. I've been coming to mallorca for many years. But this year was my last time. Firstly my wife was picked pocket .secondly, the hotel tax has shot up. I've all ways stayed at the santa ponsa park. The hotel it self not bad .but it's turning in to a over booked hotel. So I want be coming back..

Think this is part of the ETIAS EES rules governing the entty of third country nationals into the Schengen Area of the EU/EFTA with the exception of Ireland and Cyprus. Hi, Just got back from Majorca Sunday 6th . Usually go to Alcudia but decided to try Palma nova staying at the Globales Palmanova. Something we have never experienced before is rude staff but unfortunenately we have now ! When you hear people say "the staff can't do enough for you " this doesn't apply here. For your information Globales rooms are very small, strangest entertainment room I've ever seen ! Will be waiting to see what happens with check-in situation, but will probably be looking elsewhere in the future. "Majorca You are shooting yourself in the foot."

Forty years of trips to Mallorca and Spain ended by a badly thought out plan. These details are personal and subject to misuse too easily by the criminal fraternity, it would be impossible to police this well enough. It’s a shame but somewhere else will now get our business. Thanks for highlighting this issue.

I’ve not gone to Spain since lockdown was lifted. Spain and its islands were one of our favourites for many years, I gues it’s all over now, especially considering some of this information is a breach of my own rights in my opinion.why would they ever need to have banking details for an all inclusive holiday or my email address, simply no.

We really love Spain. It’s a shame that we won’t be returning if this new policy is implemented. No way I’m trusting their government’s system to safely contain all that information.

It won’t affect my holiday in Spain, I won’t be holidaying in Spain. I value my private information, more than a few days of sunshine.
